Only thing I disliked was the water in the hot spring. It was not something you could dig, and the “hot spring” (outdoor) had a lot of sediment from dead leaves that made it feel a bit dirty."

"Aside from a minor hiccup before check-in, I was completely satisfied from the moment I checked in until my departure; it exceeded my expectations. Before check-in, Ctrip emailed me that the hotel would send me the check-in code in advance. However, on the day of our hike, we still hadn't received any email. I also emailed the hotel in advance, but couldn't get through. Tip: Don't worry, and there's no need to call ahead. There's a check-in box at the entrance. There's a small room with instructions for self-check-in. You can use the iPad inside to call Teams directly. It turned out that even calling ahead didn't explain it. After checking in, the room was fully equipped, with a dining room, living room, and small garden. Breakfast and dinner were stocked in the refrigerator, and there was a washing machine, dryer, oven, microwave, and coffee maker—everything was available. It completely relieved the fatigue of the first day's hike. I was very happy!"

"I come here every year for 3 days, but you need to drive in, which might be inconvenient for people from mainland China. However, there's now a direct bus to the guesthouse entrance, which is great. If you're just looking to relax and enjoy the hot springs, this place is fantastic, and you can also visit Mount Koya on the way. I've uploaded the bus schedule."

The breakfast was plentiful, with yogurt, coffee, bread, fruit, and fruit and vegetable juice. He even kindly drove me to the last two places on the Kumano Kodo trail where I could get my stamp."

The hotel is right next to the main road, but there is no traffic at night and I had a good sleep. It's close to takijiri oji or takahara by car or bus. The bendo dinner box was delicious and there was more than enough. Beautifull view over the river and the forest"

"A nice ryokan with beautiful private baths. There's a public onsen and a delicious, inexpensive cafe nearby. The staff is polite, and some even speak English. You can reserve a seat on the free shuttle to and from the village center at the reception desk. There are also several bus stops nearby. I have large tattoos, but they allowed me to use both the public and private onsen."

"The location is excellent; the hotel shuttle bus from the entrance of Hongu Taisha Shrine provides quick access. The hotel is a standard Japanese onsen hotel; although it's a bit dated, it doesn't feel old. After a day of hiking the Kumano Kodo's Nakaheji route, soaking in the hot springs at the hotel was incredibly relaxing. A stay here is a must-do – the dinner and breakfast are very plentiful and are some of the best onsen meals I've had in recent years. The best onsen hotel near Hongu Taisha Shrine on the Kumano Kodo – highly recommended!"
