"I had originally planned to book the Kamenoi Hotel in Kikatsuura, but I found this one in Tanabe at the last minute and decided to change my plans. The hotel has a shuttle bus from Tanabe, but it seems to leave around 2:30 PM. We arrived around noon, so we opted to go ourselves; a taxi would have cost around 85 yuan. The hotel scenery is beautiful, perfect for a quiet vacation and a few extra days. There are several scenic spots nearby, probably a national park, with stunning views. It was quite windy that day, but we still managed to walk around the island.
The hotel service was excellent. They even provided local snacks and green tea in the room. The best part was that from afternoon until 9:00 PM, the hotel lobby offered complimentary red wine, white wine, plum wine, beer, and snacks – that was fantastic! We ordered three simple dishes for dinner, which were quite good (it would be much more cost-effective to book a set menu that includes dinner).
In the evening, we went to the large public bath for a soak. The outdoor view of the sunset was amazing."

"The hotel is very nice and still feels brand new, with a great location close to Kii-Tanabe Station. The staff were friendly, the check-in process was fast, and the room was very clean and comfortable.
The laundry facilities, ice machine, and vending machines were all excellent. We also appreciated the free breakfast and complimentary coffee/tea in the afternoon.
This hotel is highly recommended and perfect as a starting point for the Kumano Kodo journey. One suggestion would be to offer breakfast earlier or provide breakfast boxes for hikers starting early in the morning.

"Beyond imagination, it was so much fun, truly perfect for summer! My kids loved digging for hot springs by the river, and for the first time, they actually enjoyed soaking in them. It's a shame we didn't bring swimsuits and floats, otherwise, we could have had a water fight! Dinner was also good; although the variety wasn't huge, there was enough to eat. The service was excellent, and the hotel was very clean. The only minor complaint is that the dryer didn't quite get clothes completely dry even after half an hour, so I wasn't entirely satisfied with the dryer."

"On the Kumano Kodo (Kumano Kodo Trail), near the Kawayu stop, the onsen hotel I chose is right across from a natural river bath. The hotel offers free shovels so you can dig your own bath in the river. I recommend bringing a swimsuit. The hotel also has its own indoor and outdoor public onsen. I booked a room that included the outdoor bath. Staying only one night might be a bit too much. I booked a one-night, two-meal package. Without meals in the mountains, you'd probably only be able to eat instant noodles. The Kumano beef served here was excellent. There's also a dedicated bus stop at the entrance with direct buses to Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine and Shingu."

"這個房間是因為之前預訂的旅店在我出發的前一天沒有確認訂單後我唯一的選擇，也成為了我這次熊野古道中邊路全踏破的完美開局。出了車站就碰見來接我的太田先生（60歲），簡單交流後他給我一本要到熊野古道館才能買到的小冊子，並且上面已經把古道外圍最遠的一個章蓋了，今天新手村的任務就是NPC帶我把其他兩個章蓋好，並讓我先嚐試2小時的山道徒步為明天的出發熱身。
太田先生全程熱情解説並沒有收取我額外任何的費用，距離他家步行3分鐘有羅森的便利店，我買了很多補給和晚餐，誰知道我住的房間裏早已被塞滿各種免費暢飲的飲料。房間安排在二樓，有廁所，但洗澡洗衣服要去樓下。房間面積超大，比我在京都的家還要大一點，晚上陽台可以看到完美山谷日落噢！廁所有點年代感但非常的乾淨，廁紙也是超厚香香的！浴室和洗面池配的各種洗漱用品齊全到可以不用打開洗刷包了！
忙了一下午的太田先生晚餐衹是簡單的泡麪和肉丸，這讓我有點過意不去。晚餐後我們聊了很久，太田先生居然是半個中國通，如果大家有機會入住請多和他交流吧。
雖然這裏看起來離出發點有點距離，但有羅森便利店的加持和太田先生的熱情款待，這裏絕對是熊野古道出發的幸運地！我非常推薦！"

"We arrived late at night. The guy at the front desk greeted us warmly. He used a translator to explain the situation and asked if we needed our luggage transported (he could help transport our luggage to the next destination). He also asked if we needed to soak in an outdoor hot spring. The next morning, I opened the curtains and saw the beautiful sea. It's far from the station and it's dark at night if you walk. I recommend taking a taxi, which costs 1,000 yen one way."

TrissyIt was out of our expectation. It is a standalone apartment that has everything you need. It is better to register all the guest’s information online via the email. That will make your check-in more convenient. We were impressed with the backyard. We planned to have dinner there. Unfortunately, it was cold and raining. We definitely wanna stay there again. It’s at a very great location, close to the shopping center, and the bus stop of Kumano hiking, just in a few mins walk. Even you don’t do hiking, it is also good for a bunch of friends for a retreat.

Dinner and breakfast are exquisite, you can also help wash clothes, and the boss is very enthusiastic. Although the bathhouse is public, basically no one can soak at night. The most important thing is that ice water is provided in the morning. It is really a great help to hike!

The entrance was a bit hard to find, but locals were super helpful and guided me right to it. The hot spring bathhouse is huge, and the water is flowing and very clean. No waiting around, so I could just relax and enjoy the soak. It was perfect for relieving the muscle fatigue from hiking the Kumano Kodo.

ShanyuWe reached the hotel on foot from Hongu Taisha Shrine via Ohitsuchi, passing by Yumine Hot Spring Street. It takes about half an hour to walk from the hot spring street. I’m not sure how to get there by car. The hotel environment is very good. It’s a completely Japanese-style resort hotel. It’s quiet and far away. The crowd, the service is enthusiastic, and the hygiene is up to standard. (Note that there are no showers in the rooms, you have to go to the large bathroom.) The hot springs are very big and unique. The dinner is also good. I have a good rest. There is a shuttle bus to the palace when I leave. ( You may also be able to make an appointment) Watase Onsen is worth experiencing!

_SamW_Stayed for two consecutive days. The hotel staff was very friendly and could communicate in English. No matter what the problem was, they were very enthusiastic and tried their best to help you solve it.
1. There is a free shuttle bus to Hoshinmon Prince Shrine and Hongu Taisha Shrine every day. In addition, the front desk can arrange a free shuttle bus from the hotel to the bus station.
2. You can ask the front desk to arrange for your large luggage to be sent to the next hotel (hotels that are too far away may need to pay a small fee, but hotels that are very close are free)
3. You can ask the front desk to prepare a lunch box
4. The family's private bath is very clean and comfortable. When no one is around, you can request a private bath.
The dinner food was delicious! A highly recommended hotel!

The room was very clean. The landlady was kind and could communicate in Chinese using a translation software. I ordered her breakfast for 800 yen and it was very comfortable. I didn’t know what to choose from the meal. I just ate what she made and I was very satisfied. This B&B can pick you up from the station. I don’t speak Japanese, so I can only walk there. When I left, she drove me to the station. I liked it very much! The bus runs twice a day, and it’s difficult to take a taxi. The pick-up and drop-off is very pleasant.

I booked a budget room at this hotel for a one-night stop in Kii-Tanabe before setting off on my Kumano Kodo hike. The location is super convenient, with the train station, bus stop for the next day, convenience stores, the tourist center, and many restaurants all just a few dozen meters away. The hotel is older, and the facilities are basic but adequate. My room wasn't very large, but it was very clean.
