"The room was very clean and the front desk staff were really friendly. I asked for a room facing away from the railway tracks and they happily switched it for me. I booked this hotel for my Kumano Kodo trek. It's small but has everything you need: a bathtub, shower, desk, and carpet. I forgot to take photos, but the room was probably around 8-9 square meters. It's quite small, but the soundproofing was decent. I booked breakfast included, which was pretty simple. I arrived early because I had a train to catch, so I just grabbed a quick bite and headed out. It's located in the countryside, so there aren't many places to explore, and a lot of shops close early. I ended up getting dinner from a convenience store, which was conveniently located right next to the station. P.S. The electric kettle was surprisingly made of plastic!"

"This is one of the famous onsen hotels within the vicinity of Kumano Hongji area, it is ideal for pre-hike stay for preparation/familiarization of the area or a post-hike relaxation to wrap the hike.
Awesome Onsen, outdoor one even better (though it was close to zero in the morning and at night, you definitely get unforgettable experience)
There is buffer breakfast as well as dinner for you to enjoy, especially for dinner, beyond my expectation.
The hotel also provides free parking lot for the guests.
Downside was the facility within the room, quite simple and basic. But you came here to hike and explore the area, so for the location, onsen and the nice food, 4 out of 5 ⭐️.
Plus, Ms. 萌音 at reception speaks fluent English and provided a quite detailed tips on some of trekking routes for my consideration and willing to help to send the postcard for me as the Post Office was closed on Sunday, many thanks to her!"

The Japanese-style breakfast buffet in the morning is also quite extensive. For dinner, you can head to the nearby Komyoji area, which is small but excellent, with many family-run eateries. I chose a tempura restaurant where they prepared the food right in front of me – it was delicious! "We booked this traditional Japanese hotel the night before because we were heading to the Kumano Kodo Trail early the next morning. It was a bit beyond our expectations. The ocean is right behind the hotel! 🌊 Before boarding our flight in Shanghai, I sent an email asking about the hotel shuttle service. I saw the reply email upon landing in Osaka, and everything was perfect! The next day, after checking out, while waiting for the shuttle, the waiter brought us rice balls, saying they'd help us with our hike. It was so touching, even though it was just rice balls. The hotel also offers free ramen in the evening. The portions for a one-night stay and two meals are small, but they look exquisite. Highly recommended."

"J-HOPPERS is conveniently located. Just walk straight ahead after getting off the bus; it's at the fork in the road, or you can find it at the fork next to Tangfeng Prince. Google Maps is wrong; it leads to a long detour. It's also very close to the Millennium Hot Spring. I stayed in an 8-person room, each with individual capsule-style cubicles. The space was good; I could sit up and there was still plenty of room. The hot spring was very comfortable. Breakfast was free, consisting of congee. Even better than the facilities was the guesthouse's genuine hospitality and warm service. The owner even helped me carefully research the ticket purchase process for fishing in the river."

"It was out of our expectation. It is a standalone apartment that has everything you need. It is better to register all the guest’s information online via the email. That will make your check-in more convenient. We were impressed with the backyard. We planned to have dinner there. Unfortunately, it was cold and raining. We definitely wanna stay there again. It’s at a very great location, close to the shopping center, and the bus stop of Kumano hiking, just in a few mins walk. Even you don’t do hiking, it is also good for a bunch of friends for a retreat."

"A bit minimalistic (shared bathroom and restroom) but otherwise very friendly, clean, with standard set of amenities (TV, WiFi, refrigerator) for this type of hotels. If you are doing hiking and have to stay for a night, this place has almost unbeatable price. Highly recommend."

"Very cool. Unrivaled ocean view room. The carpet is a bit wet but just pass on slippers. Does not affect the experience. Super cost-effective at just over 300. Breakfast is a bento box. You need to pay extra for the buffet. There is only one restaurant five minutes away. There is a Lawson convenience store 15 minutes away. A taxi from Tanabe or Shirahama costs about 2,000 yen"

"There were not many people when I checked in. There were outdoor hot springs, separated for men and women. The service staff are very enthusiastic, and there is a young man who can speak Mandarin and is very good. The hotel facilities are slightly older. Luggage can be sent. They can also drive you to the bus stop for free in the morning. But there is nothing around the hotel. It is on a hillside. Get off at Xiatang Peak. There are not many buses."

"這個房間是因為之前預訂的旅店在我出發的前一天沒有確認訂單後我唯一的選擇，也成為了我這次熊野古道中邊路全踏破的完美開局。出了車站就碰見來接我的太田先生（60歲），簡單交流後他給我一本要到熊野古道館才能買到的小冊子，並且上面已經把古道外圍最遠的一個章蓋了，今天新手村的任務就是NPC帶我把其他兩個章蓋好，並讓我先嚐試2小時的山道徒步為明天的出發熱身。
太田先生全程熱情解説並沒有收取我額外任何的費用，距離他家步行3分鐘有羅森的便利店，我買了很多補給和晚餐，誰知道我住的房間裏早已被塞滿各種免費暢飲的飲料。房間安排在二樓，有廁所，但洗澡洗衣服要去樓下。房間面積超大，比我在京都的家還要大一點，晚上陽台可以看到完美山谷日落噢！廁所有點年代感但非常的乾淨，廁紙也是超厚香香的！浴室和洗面池配的各種洗漱用品齊全到可以不用打開洗刷包了！
忙了一下午的太田先生晚餐衹是簡單的泡麪和肉丸，這讓我有點過意不去。晚餐後我們聊了很久，太田先生居然是半個中國通，如果大家有機會入住請多和他交流吧。
雖然這裏看起來離出發點有點距離，但有羅森便利店的加持和太田先生的熱情款待，這裏絕對是熊野古道出發的幸運地！我非常推薦！"

The river across the road with geothermal heat was a wonderful surprise. Having a cool dip in the river followed by a relaxing bath in a self created rock pool at the edge was so relaxing after a days walking on the Kumano Kodo. Very quiet area compared to Yumonime Onsen village a few kms down the road.

Large room with a great view of sea, clean and cozy. I was arriving late which passed the check-in hours due to flight delay. My sim card cannot make phone calls in Japan and I was afraid of not being able to check in. Fortunately, the front-desk gentleman was waited for us until midnight and helped us check in. And he guided us to find the vending machine to find the food even not speaking English. It’s a very positive experience to live here.

Right in front of the bus stop Kamaya-Mae I think.. Kind hosts who speaks a reasonable amount of English. Dinner smelled delicious but I didn’t go for it because I wanted to try the other restaurant in the area. If I return to kawayu, I will come back here.

GGuest UserThis hotel is perfect for a relaxing one day stay. It’s right beside a sapphire-blue river in the middle of the mountains. The in-room onsen is more than big enough for two people and they also have communal baths. They also offer a free shuttle to the start of a stretch of the Kumano Kodo if you want to hike the next day.

no expectations when i booked it… i just need a room for a quick stop to the city! Itt was good enough… they said it was old, but it was ok for me and had a good stay during the night! The best part is i was close to the transportation terminal. i would stay again in here if i come back

Good location in Wataraze Onsen area, with bus stop at 8m walk. We stayed in a cabin, and it's got all you need except showers, which is in the main building in the onsen facilities. Friendly staff and they have a small shop where you can get some supplies. We were 2 but our cabin could fit 7. So it is more for families or friends.

GGuest UserThe room was very clean. The landlady was kind and could communicate in Chinese using a translation software. I ordered her breakfast for 800 yen and it was very comfortable. I didn’t know what to choose from the meal. I just ate what she made and I was very satisfied. This B&B can pick you up from the station. I don’t speak Japanese, so I can only walk there. When I left, she drove me to the station. I liked it very much! The bus runs twice a day, and it’s difficult to take a taxi. The pick-up and drop-off is very pleasant.
