GGuest UserIt was a wonderful place. Quite as I wanted. My room was with lovely details and everything well prepared. Train station was 6 minutes walk and the beach just across the street also 2 minutes walk only. With approx 15 minutes walk you could be in the next bigger area with food shops restaurants and the nice river. I could book a private 50 minute outdoor onsen time and it was awesome. The stuff are absolutely friendly and helpful. I felt so comfortable and had no wishes. I would come back.

GGuest UserThe room and environment are great, and the service is also very good. I just asked the front desk to borrow an adapter, but there was no adapter. In addition, the Western food reserved for dinner was said to be the default on Ctrip, but I did not choose Western food. Why should I go to a Japanese-style hotel? Maybe they all ordered Western food, but after negotiating for a long time, they changed to Japanese food for one night. I don't know who should be blamed for this problem.

AAnonymous UserDuring check-in, the ********* woman provided a very detailed explanation and communicated well in Mandarin. The hotel room wasn't particularly beautiful, but it was just right. The breakfast was delicious and generous. The staff were all very friendly. The hotel's ocean-view hot springs are beautiful. Although the weather prevented us from enjoying the best views, the view from our room was still excellent.

11371811****Service: 5/5 – On September 5, 2025, Typhoon Pipa swept across the Izu Peninsula, causing the Izu Kyuko Line to suspend all services during the day. The hotel arranged a minivan to transport all checked-out guests to Izu-Kogen Station, a 40-minute drive. Onsen (Hot Springs): 5/5 – The hot spring area is a classic, aged traditional ryokan, but the cleanliness is impeccable. The hot springs are certified, and both the men's and women's outdoor rotenburo baths are unique, with the main large bath facing the coast. Food: 4.5/5 – Both breakfast and dinner were a slightly lavish kaiseki style, and the portions were more than generous. Even our two big appetites were completely stuffed. We experienced seven different ways of preparing Kinmedai (splendid alfonsino) over two days, including a whole fish served on the first night. The lobby offers complimentary Suntory beer, which is quite good, along with free snacks. However, soft drinks are not free and need to be purchased from a vending machine. If you have specific room type requests, you can communicate them with the ryokan in advance, and they genuinely try to accommodate them. When staying at this type of old-fashioned ryokan, it's best to state your needs directly, otherwise, it might affect your experience. Higashiizu Town is a rural town built into the mountains. Shopping is decent thanks to an Aeon supermarket, but dining out isn't very convenient.

MM391173****This was my first time staying at a hot spring hotel, and choosing Atagawa-kan on my first day in Izu, Japan, was the best decision ever. I booked two nights for just over 800 (yen/yuan) a night, and the service was attentive and detailed. The ocean looked beautiful and serene during the pre-dawn blue hour. The outdoor onsen offered stunning panoramic views of the sea. There's an ice cream shop on the first floor; I highly recommend trying the Japanese yuzu flavor – it's delicious. Next to the hotel, there's a restaurant that's convenient, tasty, and affordable. By 6 PM, it's completely dark, and there are very few people on the streets, making it incredibly peaceful and quiet – perfect for a leisurely stay. Most places here close around 8 PM. I love Izu; visiting during the off-season was a fantastic experience.

GGuest UserThis is a bit worn out and simple hotel. The best things were the extremely friendly and helpful staff, as well as the super delicious dinner & breakfast that was included in the price. I ate maybe the most delicious croissant ever here. The variety and the quality of food was great. Things to improve are  the facilities, especially the onsen. It’s very small but more importantly, it wasn’t well maintained and there was no emergency button. When my mom felt like fainting, it wasn’t possible to call for help.  Also the air conditioner in the room was very loud, making it difficult to sleep. All in all, good stay.

GGuest UserThe room was spacious and clean! It was a real treat to relax in the open-air onsen while listening to the sound of the ocean. On a regular weekend, there weren't many people, so the bathhouse felt like a private rental. While the facilities are definitely a bit older, they have a charming Showa-era vibe which actually made the stay quite fun. Be prepared that there aren't many restaurants or convenience stores nearby; dinner requires about a 20-minute walk one way. However, it's very close to the sea, making it convenient for fishing! The Wi-Fi signal on the 6th floor was decent. The TV is quite old, and only some channels work, so you'll need to patiently press the channel button a few times to change it, haha. The duvet was very soft and comfortable for sleeping. Overall, the value for money is really high!

AAnonymous UserA really nice resort hotel. The room was spacious, and the private onsen bath was very clean. The peculiar smell was likely from the tatami mats. We had the hotel's set menu for breakfast but didn't have dinner at the hotel. The supermarket next to Izu Kogen Station offers abundant sashimi, enough to eat your fill. The photos show the places we visited during our stay, and it was all very relaxing. Having seen some less favorable reviews, let me share my own experience. The hotel's occupancy is highly seasonal, so there might not be many staff members, but they all provided attentive service. During our stay, the station pick-up and drop-off service was always well-arranged. When I'm on vacation, I prefer to relax and not be disturbed, so I opted out of daily room cleaning. I've stayed at some older Japanese-style hotels, similar to those in areas like Shikoku's Oboke, and this level of service is pretty typical. Of course, perhaps I just haven't visited enough Japanese resort hotels to generalize. Overall, I highly recommend staying here. Don't set your expectations too high, but it delivers on all the essentials for a relaxing getaway.

GGuest UserThe hotel is right by the sea. The view from the window of the room is very beautiful. Dinner and breakfast are complete and delicious. There is an outdoor onsen upstairs of the hotel. And there is a private onsen as well. The staff are willing to serve even though they can't speak English. But try to communicate with the guests Overall worth the price paid.

LLThe staff are very polite and always willing to help. The room is big and comfortable. The sound-proof work is also effective, so I hardly hear any noise from rooms nearby. However, note that the hotel is in the middle of a mountain. If you don’t drive, you have to rely on the car service which the hotel offers (free of charge but not always available). It is almost impossible to go by foot. However, I must say the hotel staff has always tried their best to cater your needs, which I appreicate very much.
