Nestled in the quiet mountains of Hakone,Kumo Inn Hakone (雲の園箱根) is a small Japanese-style Inn surrounded by nature.
The building, which retains the charm of the Showa era, has been carefully renovated to preserve the warmth of the past while offering a comfortable and relaxing stay today.
Located in the Gora Onsen area, the inn is within walking distance of Gora Station, making it a convenient base for exploring Hakone while still enjoying a peaceful atmosphere.
Relax in our garden, unwind in a private bath, and take a break from the busy pace of everyday life.
Like clouds—stay freely, quietly, and let time slow down during your visit to Hakone.
"We had a wonderful stay at Kumo Inn. The traditional Japanese-style room was spacious, spotless and very comfortable. The private onsen was the highlight of our stay and made the experience truly special. The peaceful surroundings and beautiful nature made it the perfect place to relax.
The communication before arrival was clear and check-in was easy. I stayed here with our 5 year old daughter and felt very welcome.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t complete the Hakone Loop because the ropeway was suspended due to bad weather. That was of course beyond the accommodation’s control and it didn’t affect our enjoyment of the stay.
If we return to Hakone, we would definitely stay at Kumo Inn again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic and relaxing Japanese experience."
Hibarino | A Garden Retreat in Sengokuhara, Hakone
Tucked in Sengokuhara, one of Hakone's celebrated hot spring districts, Hibarino is a garden ryokan built on the quiet beauty of wabi-sabi. Each of its 11 rooms, spread across five distinct categories, opens onto its own semi-open-air bath — steam curling into view of a dry rock garden and rustling bamboo. Soak beneath the stars, and the noise of the everyday fades away.
Arrival begins with a patissier's welcome sweet in the lounge. Come evening, a kaiseki dinner built from ingredients sourced across Japan carries the meal through the seasons, followed by cocktails and local sake at the Bar Space, where the evening slows to its own rhythm.
A partnership with beauty innovator Reborn brings stem-cell-derived essence into the bath water and in-room showers — a rare pairing of onsen and cutting-edge skincare.
Sengokuhara itself is an art lover's stretch of Hakone, home to the Glass Forest Museum and the POLA Museum of Art nearby. Twenty minutes by car from Gotemba IC, with free on-site parking, or 45 minutes by bus from Odawara Station — Hibarino makes an easy, unhurried base for exploring Hakone.
"Hakone Skylark Nai Hot Spring Hotel really exceeded expectations! Meals are the biggest surprise. The banquet dishes for one berth and two meals are fresh and exquisite. Every mouthful can eat the chef's intentions. The breakfast and dinner are very rich, the taste is gentle and high-end. It’s so pleasant to go to the bar to have a drink after soaking in the private soup. The atmosphere is quiet and elegant, there are many choices of wine, the bartender is very professional, and the mountain view is slightly awkward, and the healing feeling is full. The service is intimate and the environment is quiet. It is worth coming again for meals and bars!"

"The best place in Hakone. Everything is close by. There was an issue with the free shuttle upon check-in, but this is due to the fact that you can't contact the hotel directly, only through Trip.com support. We made the most of it upon check-out. In the room we were assigned, we discovered in the evening that there was no hot water. The next day, we were moved to another room. The onsen are wonderful – there are communal ones, which we went in the evening and were alone in, and there are private ones – they are small and more like jacuzzis. We liked the communal ones better. They provide yukatas and a basket – very convenient for the baths. The Japanese-style breakfasts are unusual. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are available almost all day, and coffee machines are located on all floors and are available at any time. There is a grocery store nearby. There are many good restaurants near the station."

"This hotel is brand new and offers fantastic amenities like a fully equipped kitchen, a very clean washer and dryer, and even a dishwasher! The best part is the in-room hot spring bath. Every evening, I looked forward to soaking in the 'natural hot spring components (Yunohana)'. It was incredibly relaxing! I learned that this type of spring water is excellent for relieving fatigue, joint pain, and is even good for your skin. Since I stayed for 5 days, the only minor inconvenience was the lack of an outdoor recycling area, so I had to contact customer service online for trash pickup. Aside from that, everything else was perfect!"

A hot spring resort hotel for adults surrounded by greenery
"The staff were incredibly kind and helpful when we needed to go to the 4th floor or when I got confused about the stairs. My husband mentioned that he got soaked when he went out for a cigarette in the rain, so he wished the roof eaves were a bit longer to provide more shelter. Thank you for everything! We'll definitely be back."
