We are proud of the quality for the low price.Room with two meals is from 6,000 yen (tax excluded)!

"The location itself is practically impossible to get to without a car. Parking is conveniently provided, as it's exclusive to the ryokan. The surrounding atmosphere is very satisfying. However, you'll need to rent everything from towels to yukatas at the ryokan. Breakfast is simple. There's a nearby place offering free sulfur hell steaming, so you can just buy eggs and cook them yourself (50 yen). You can also make other sulfur-based dishes if you'd like! I was disappointed that there was only one hot spring, and the water wasn't particularly special. Overall... Spend more and go somewhere better."

Ryokan Minawa

9.7/10
Amazing

The bad reviews of the service were for the agency and Ctrip customer service. Later, Ctrip customer service apologized to me sincerely. It is best to book on the official website yourself. The agency is too bad. The service of the hotel is excellent. The hotel is in Kurokawa Onsen. I am a free traveler and do not drive myself. The transportation is inconvenient. There is no train, only bus, and there are only three buses a day. The Kurokawa Onsen bus station is an unmanned station with no toilets, no taxis, and no business. Based on some common sense about the inconvenience of transportation in the secret hot spring, I asked Ctrip customer service to make an appointment for the station the day before, and was told that there was no pick-up service and I had to walk there myself. At that time, I felt that it was wrong. Apple navigation said that it was 20 minutes away. As a result, I was dumbfounded when I arrived at the station. I contacted the hotel myself. The front desk did not speak English well. He asked me where my name came from and immediately knew that he sent a car to pick me up. When I arrived, the driver bowed and apologized to me. It took 5 or 6 minutes to drive to the hotel. It was all uphill without signs. When checking in, the hotel staff said that they wanted to ask me how to get to the hotel, but the agency was a landline and no one answered. The hotel has always had a pick-up service. Yueguangshu Hotel is almost perfect. There are only 8 rooms, each of which is very good, and the facilities and supplies are extremely attentive and of excellent quality. Each room has two indoor and outdoor hot springs. The hot spring water is of excellent quality and is really skin-beautifying. The food is top-notch and very enjoyable. In addition, the hotel does not need to find staff who can speak Chinese. Japanese employees are much more polite and enthusiastic. It is enough to use translation software or gestures. The main reason for coming to Japan is that I like the enthusiasm and uncompromised service. In short, Gekkoju is worth a try and I will come again. The water quality of Kurokawa Onsen is well-deserved. There are also high-quality hotels such as Takefu. It is up to you to choose a budget. They are all quite good, but it is too deserted and the transportation is inconvenient. There are no convenience stores or coffee shops, only two or three restaurants. If you want to stay a few more days and stay in a few more hotels, you don’t know where to go after checking out at noon.

The service was excellent, and the food, both breakfast and dinner, was great. The onsen was comfortable and clean. It's a shame that the massage chair required a coin-operated subscription; normally, hotels of this caliber and price shouldn't charge extra for it.

Pros- spacious villa, quality bedding and large private indoor onsen( see picture 13). We also like the public outdoor onsen in the sister ryokan nearby. There is a little cafe there you can buy drinks and coffee, run by an adorable old couple, very nice and polite. We spent a lot of time there just chilling and listening to the music. Cons- Living room: we were only able to book the western style villa as it’s a little last minute trip. The living room is basic, bland, with sofa, instead or tatami. Our room 512 is next to the car park. Parking lot in front of your main door is not very pleasant. Food : just soso. Nothing extraordinary. See picture. No horse sashimi, the presentation of the steak is really ordinary - disappointing. Perhaps because we had such an amazing meals in the previous ryokan this became a massive letdown. Dinner served in a large public dining room, lack of the privacy and intimacy ther ryokan provide ( we had private dining room in another ryokan 野之花during this trip). I got to see other couples but also feeling like we are being watched. Service- served by young people, not much attentiveness you would expect in traditional ryokan, lack of the warmth and ritual. Reception- 3 star at best. A basic room with uncomfortable chair while you wait to be checked in. We arrived around 2:30pm, and was told that check in can only start at 3pm, and please wait. So we sat at the hard chair and forced to watch the promotional video until 3pm. Conclusion - 3.5 star ryokan, not the most exciting or exclusive villa we have stayed. Maybe it would get better once the trees grow thicker and staff better trained. The sister Ryokan nearby has better feel of environment and feels more established.

Is this spa hotel well equipped? The room facilities are very thoughtful and in place, there is a private hot spring in the room, which is very comfortable. The staff is cordial and hospitable. They took the initiative to introduce the surrounding environment, and there was a row of people relaxing and feeding the ducks for free, which was really interesting. The breakfast was delicious and rich. The staff was very considerate and knew that my grandma didn't eat fish, so they replaced her breakfast with fried chicken. I will stay in this hot spring hotel next time.

It was the greatest experience I have had in onsen hotel staying. Everything was the greatest with no room to complain. Exceptional service, nice private onsen (reservation required), spacious and clean rooms, free drinks, dinner with wagyu beef, quiet and relaxing environments. I left my jacket in my room, after I left, they even email me to offer options if I want to have the jacket back. They finally arranged to courier the jacket to my hotel I stayed afterwards (courier fee COD). I appreciate this service a lot, they truly want me to have a nice trip with no regrets. I highly recommend this onsen hotel, very valuable for this low price!

It’s a good private house. But I’m won’t recommend if weather is cold or raining, or if you’re traveling with young kids. I travelled with my family with two toddlers. The bath and onsen are outdoors, not quite well lit and not well covered. The hot water water pressure is low, and the water is either very hot or very cold. It was a cold, raining and windy that night. It was a horrible experience for us because of the above, and the kids had a lot of trouble taking a bath. And we were worried they might catch a cold. And strangely the door lock of the bath is locked from the outside and not from the inside. Also remember to buy food before entering. We bought ours and cooked our own dinner. Otherwise, it’s a good private house, probably best for adults.

The service was absolutely incredible. The location was a bit awkward, being a 5-minute drive from Kurokawa Onsen (but a 30-minute walk). I emailed them beforehand to explain the situation and requested a pick-up, which they happily accommodated. We even missed our pre-booked highway bus from Fukuoka to Kurokawa and had to change the time on the day, but they still helped us. The highway bus was incredibly slow, making us 40 minutes late for our agreed-upon pick-up time. I almost teared up feeling both apologetic and grateful to the elderly owners, who helped us so kindly without showing any sign of inconvenience. I want to express my sincere gratitude again. Thank you so much! Thanks to them, my four friends and I had a wonderful trip in Kurokawa. The owner's wife advised us in Japanese to book a taxi for the evening from the information center. However, as our Japanese isn't very good, we kept putting it off and ended up not booking one. As a result, after finishing our onsen and dinner, my four friends and I had to walk for over 30 minutes along a dark forest road to get back to our accommodation ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ. For others, please make sure to book a taxi for your return trip at the information center as soon as you arrive at the onsen. It's a very rural area where you can't call for a taxi, and cars are rarely seen after 8 PM. Walking back to Mori No Cottage is just not something a person should do. It was so hard. It was dark, scary, and the uphill climb was exhausting. Aside from that, the accommodation itself was excellent. It was a wooden cottage, and I heard the owner's husband designed it himself. It was a very comfortable, clean, and pleasant place to stay. The next day, we had to return to Fukuoka, so they helped us with a pick-up to the highway bus stop at 9:30 AM. However, they dropped us off at the wrong spot, and it could have been a big problem if we hadn't moved to the correct location. We almost missed the bus again. I think there was a communication error because our Japanese isn't very good. It turns out we were supposed to get off at Fukuoka Airport, not Yufuin or Beppu. Thankfully, we managed to get to the correct stop, so there were no issues in the end. I think it's crucial for others to communicate very clearly. All in all, I was truly grateful and happy.

We had a wonderful stay at the Power Spot Campsite. The owner was super friendly and helpfull. He helped us with all of our questions and gave us some great recommandations. We arrived on a rainy day with our bicycles and were so happy about the cozy tiny wooden house and a warm shower. We had an amazing view of the mountains and the shrine and it was even possible to make a campfire infront of the little house. It is a magical place. Also there are many cute and friendly cats. We would defenetly visit again!

The room was spacious. It was my first time staying in a dome-shaped room, and it was very comfortable. The buffet had a lot to choose from, so I was able to eat healthy food. There were a lot of people, so we had to wait a little, but it wasn't a problem. The surrounding facilities were also well-equipped, so we were able to use the various relaxation spaces. I'd like to go again.
