Great hotel in a great location!
The check in process was smooth, the friendly staff fully engaged at the point of service. The two story hotel foyer was wonderfully furnished for an immediate photo shoot!
The room was very clean and very spacious! I asked for one at height with a view!
Hotel facilities boast:
- fitness room (free for guests)
- beauty parlour
- two restaurants, although only one was open during my stay. The breakfast buffet was amazing!!
- rooftop swimming pool, also closed during my stay
-a great club bar!
There was even a guest laundry room with washing machine and drying area (free for guests)
Location is everything and this hotel is just a few minutes walk from a range of other local venues and restaurants, although who wants to stay too local in Naitobi, the city that Hever sleeps?

I booked a 2-night stay over Saturday and Sunday while waiting for my 1am flight on Monday. I had just returned from a safari and was extremely tired, hoping to get some rest. Unfortunately, starting around 4am on Sunday, there was a lot of noise coming from the room directly in front of mine. It appeared to be a group occupying multiple rooms, shouting and moving between them.
I called the lobby twice, and while the receptionist was kind and responsive in contacting the group, the noise continued, and I eventually gave up on trying to sleep.
Later that afternoon, the tap and shower in my room stopped working. I had to call again to have it fixed, and even after it was restored, there was no hot water. I had a VERY cold shower.
That said, I genuinely appreciated the food and the aesthetic of the property—the African artifacts in the hallways and the soaring ceilings made the place feel very special. It’s the kind of atmosphere I’d love to return to. However, because of the disruptions and inconvenience I experienced, I don’t think I’ll be coming back unless necessary.

The management is very formal, the staff is well trained, the room hygiene is done in general, but it is good in Kenya, and the breakfast is delicious.

I had an excellent stay at the Best Western Plus Meridian Nairobi! The hotel is clean, comfortable, and conveniently located in the heart of the city, but what truly makes it special is the amazing staff.
A big thank you to Lazarus, the Duty Manager, for his professionalism and warm hospitality — he went out of his way to make sure my stay was smooth and enjoyable. Also, Patric, the porter, deserves special mention for his kindness and always being ready to assist with a big smile. Both of them made me feel truly welcome and at home.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Nairobi — the service, comfort, and friendliness of the staff make it stand out. I’ll definitely be back!

The room decor was really comfortable, with a retro luxury style. However, the downside was that the facilities were just too old. After checking in, I found that the faucet was broken and it took ages to fix it, eventually someone had to come and repair it.

The hotel is quite new, the front desk and lobby guys are very good and smiling.
The only thing is that there are no restaurants nearby. But the hotel also has a restaurant.
Although I didn't use the rooftop swimming pool, it looks good.

It's more of an apartment hostel but it's very good. There are multiple beds in one room which gives it a hostel feel. The owner is so incredibly nice but he doesn't really speak English, just Chinese. Hotel is in a good location right between Yaya Mall and Chinatown. Area is safe as it's the Kilimanjaro area and there are guards for the building. When you enter the building tell the main guard you want to go to Elephant Hotel and he contact the boss to come down and get you. The room is very clean and the WiFi is very fast.

SSIR JAMESMy wife and I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a much-needed staycation at the Swiss-Belinn Hotel, and I’m thrilled to share just how phenomenal our experience was. A great stay is made by three things: comfort, food, and service, and the Swiss-Belinn knocked all three out of the park.
The Foundation of Comfort: Top-Notch Cleanliness
I want to start with something that truly stood out: the cleanliness. The hygiene and tidiness across the entire property were absolutely top-notch. Our room was immaculate spotless, fresh, and welcoming making it instantly feel like a safe and relaxing sanctuary. This level of attention to detail and care is the foundation of a great stay, and the housekeeping team deserves massive credit.
The Taste of Excellence: let’s talk about the food. It wasn't just good; it was genuinely amazing. Every single meal was a memorable experience. The culinary team clearly operates with passion and expertise. From the beautifully prepared breakfast spread to the delicious evening dining, the quality, flavor, and creativity of the dishes were outstanding. It made every moment of our staycation feel like a special occasion.
The Heart of the Hotel: Dedicated and Professional Staffs.
To the entire team at Swiss-Belinn, thank you. You are the heart of this hotel.
We were consistently impressed by how committed and dedicated every staff member was. Whether we were interacting with the front desk, the restaurant servers, or the support staff, we were met with genuine smiles and proactive assistance. YYUSUFMU5What an amazing experience! Me and my wife have luckily travelled to many countries and stayed in a range of hotels and this was one of the most comfortable and welcome experiences. Our first time in Nairobi so we didn’t know too much about where to stay until we spoke to some people. They mentioned the area to be safe and also recommended this hotel as a great way to be comfortable in Nairobi. You have security in entrance and exit and they were super nice. All the staff in the hotel were accommodating and showed us around and had us alll the info we needed. We got breakfast included and stayed for 3 nights. The breakfast was exactly what we needed. You have a range of foods to choose from and I’m sure you’ll find something you like! The food at the hotel is halal which is great for us too. Our room was cleaned and refilled every day and they were respectful and details in their service. We also used the gym which was super great. Enough for you to get a good workout in too. The location is next to Sarit Centre, perfect to access the Masai Market (on specific days) and also shops of all kinds.
Big thank you to the team and everyone involved! Will definitely choose this hotel if I’m ever in Nairobi and also one I’d recommend to friends and family.
YYao bukeyanThis is a relatively new and luxurious hotel in Nairobi. Security is very strict, with security personnel questioning guests at the entrance, dogs checking for explosives, and even armed security personnel checking bags in the lobby. However, there's no need to worry about security; it's purely a government requirement. The staff at the hotel are very nice, from the front desk to the concierge and the restaurant. Everyone is friendly and willing to help with any questions.
The hotel has comprehensive facilities, including table tennis, darts, a gym, and an outdoor swimming pool. The restaurant offers a rich breakfast and excellent coffee.
The hotel's location isn't very central, so there are no restaurants nearby. You can either dine at the hotel or take an Uber to the nearby village market, which offers both food and shopping. It's very convenient.
KKay KiatThey provided three meals, if you are a Chinese tummy I had the chance to stay at Xiaomi Homestay in Kilimani, Nairobi, and it was a refreshing mix of comfort, convenience, and cultural charm.
Location & First Impressions
The homestay is tucked away in the lively Kilimani neighborhood, which makes it easy to access restaurants, shopping malls, and transport. The property itself feels modern, clean, and welcoming — a good balance between homely warmth and hotel-like comfort.
Comfort & Amenities
The facilities were a big plus. The gym was well-equipped, making it easy to keep up with workouts, while the swimming pool was perfect for relaxing after a busy day in the city. Both amenities added great value to the stay, especially for anyone who enjoys fitness and downtime in equal measure.
Meals & Dining Experience
One of the standout features was the inclusion of three daily Chinese meals. This made the stay very convenient, especially for anyone missing home-style dishes or simply wanting a reliable, flavorful option without having to step out. The meals were hearty, authentic, and gave a unique cultural touch to the experience.
Atmosphere & Service
The overall atmosphere was warm and peaceful. The hosts provided thoughtful service, striking a nice balance between giving guests privacy and being available when needed. It truly felt like a home away from home, with just the right amount of care.
TTongxiaozheThe service is very good, everyone is very welcoming! The hotel interior is very modern, I feel it meets my requirements! Clean, tidy and comfortable!
GGuest UserThe accomodation is absolutely top range and comfortable and the place has so much to offer. Unfortunately, it appears to be running on auto pilot or poor management. These are the things which really annoyed me: 1. Arriving at night, the signage is not well lit and we struggled to establish whether we had arrived at the right place, especially the security personnel at the gate were not being very helpful. They have never been given any training to help them understand that they are the first point of contact between guests and the residency. 2. We arrived on a ”Jazz Night” but, although I am a jazz lover, it should not be foreced upon everyone. The layout of the dining area is very poorly thought out. There was no maitre d'hotel or someone to direct us as to where we should go if we wanted to eat and not listen to music. Eventually we found someone to help us walk past the music area and squeeze past the tight space to go past th bar to the dining area. The whole layout is kind of back to front. The dining area should be more easily accessible and there needs to be a way to separate the main dining area without getting rid of the dining tables in the music area. 3. The dining area is exposed at the back and there was a strong could draught that night, because the rear part of the dining area is exposed to the elements.
GGuest UserI recently stayed at the Argyle Grand Hotel near Nairobi Airport for a short transit visit and overall found it to be a well-designed and welcoming property. From the moment we entered, the grand high-ceiling lobby left a strong first impression. The space is both elegant and vibrant, with a lively café that adds to the hotel’s energetic atmosphere. Although our stay was brief and we didn’t get to explore the entire property, a few key observations stood out:
Room Comfort & Facilities The room was spacious, well-maintained, and offered a comfortable environment for rest. All essential amenities were available and thoughtfully arranged. However, one practical inconvenience was the design of the bedside power sockets. If you’re using a larger adapter—such as the standard Apple three-pin plug—you won’t be able to connect it properly due to the tight placement. A more flexible socket layout would greatly improve guest convenience.
Room Service Pricing
We attempted to order a glass of juice and were quite surprised by the pricing. The staff informed us that a single glass of juice costs KES 900, with an additional KES 1,000 delivery service charge—surpassing the cost of the item itself. As someone with over 18 years of professional experience in the hospitality industry, this was the first time I’ve encountered a hotel charging a room service delivery fee that exceeds the price of the item. This pricing structure felt unreasonable and could certainly benefit from greater transparency and guest-friendly adjustments.
Reception & Staff
The front desk team was highly active and professional. They ensured all guest details were carefully managed and provided helpful support throughout the stay. Their warm demeanor and attentiveness were much appreciated.
Shuttle Service
The hotel provides an airport shuttle service, which is a valuable and convenient offering. The driver was polite and extremely helpful. However, punctuality was an issue. We were informed that the shuttle would depart at 5:00 AM, and we arrived in the lobby 10 minutes early. Unfortunately, the shuttle left 15 minutes late because other guests were delayed. For an airport transfer, such delays can cause serious inconvenience—especially for guests with early flights. We recommend enforcing a maximum wait time of 5 minutes to ensure fairness and timeliness for all travelers.
Noise Levels While the room was otherwise quiet and relaxing, there was noticeable music playing in the evening, which may disturb light sleepers. This is something to consider if you’re seeking an early night before a flight.
Final Thoughts
The Argyle Grand Hotel offers a visually stunning environment, comfortable accommodations, and excellent service from its staff. With a few adjustments in pricing policies and shuttle scheduling, it has the potential to deliver an outstanding guest experience. For those transiting through Nairobi Airport, it remains a solid and worthwhile option for a short stay.
GGuest UserOverall this hotel was good. The breakfast food spread was amazing and the A-la-cart items you could order at dinner were very fancy and delicious.
The staff was friendly and kind (but they often seemed overwhelmed with work). There was a huge walking path in the back of the lot. The grounds were beautiful. The hotel was clean. The gym was small; it included a rack of dumbbells, two or three treadmills, an elliptical machine, and one yoga mat. The water jug in the gym was empty.
We wouldn’t stay here again because there are really nice hotels nearby for 1/3 of the cost. Maybe the food variety wouldn’t be as good as Eka, or less beautiful grounds, but Eka was not worth the extra cost. We stayed two nights and the entire time couldn’t see where the $125 a night value was coming from.
Sadly, the other Nairobi hotel ratings on Trip are lower, like 3.5. An example hotel is Maison Royale. But if you’re looking for a good hotel just a bit less fancy, go somewhere else.
JJason2023Good location if you want to be fairly central with a few minutes walk to plenty of bars. Uber is very efficient and cheap here if you want to travel out. The staff were very good and the restaurant/bar is 24/7 (I believe). Room was lovely. Overall, although I think Nairobi is a little on the expensive side, this was ok. I tried to book again for after the safari but it was more expensive so i went to the Swiss Belinn instead, which was cheaper and the same standard (a little further away but again, Uber and Bolt are super efficient and cheap here).
TIPS FOR FOREIGNERS COMING INTO KENYA:
1. Get your currency outside of Kenya, the exchange rate here, particularly at the airport, is absolutely awful - I found them to be offering upto 35% less than the actual rate.
2. You only really need a small amount of cash here - most places you will visit accept card.
3. DO NOT BUY A TELKOM SIM CARD. It is absolutely useless, even in Nairobi but does not work AT ALL on safari.
4. Uber and Bolt are very good here.
5. If you are doing safari and your trip does not include the national park fees (payable in USD), make sure you get those before arriving - the banks and ATMs here are very unreliable if you want USD.
6. Do not pay extortionate hotel prices for laundry - find a local company who will collect and deliver your laundry for a fraction of the price like Smartfua Laundromat.
7. If you go on Safari, try not to sit on the back of the vehicle - it gets VERY bumpy.
