The location is very convenient! It is very convenient to go to the train station, famous shops, and night markets! It is within walking distance! The hotel provides free bicycles! Also, if you arrive early, you can store your luggage! The hotel also provides a piano! Free breakfast! Although the hotel looks old inside, the room is very spacious! There is also a big bathtub 🛁! Family Mart is opposite the hotel, which is very convenient!I like hotel Free breakfast , very local style .

Convenient location close to the main local train station. Nice and helpful staff. They offered set meals for breakfast which are more than sufficient. Room is same as the pictures. Got stuck in a typhoon and they allowed late check out. Will stay again.

We stayed 2 nights at Chiayi Hotel. The receptionist was helpful when we arrived at night. The parking space for cars is two blocks away and we had to walk for a while but that’s wasn’t a big deal. The hotel is about 800m to the train station or 15 mins by walking. The breakfast was okay. We opted for vegetarian meals. All in all, we would love to stay here again if we ever come back to Chiayi

This is a new hotel or it has just been renovated. The facilities are good. The room is clean and cosy. The breakfast is much better than expected.

We weren't entirely satisfied with the initial room, but after discussing it at the front desk, they offered us other room types. We ultimately chose one that was more to our liking, and the service was excellent. They even provided us with an air pump. Overall, it was pretty good. The downside is that the price keeps getting higher and higher; no wonder people prefer to spend this much on international travel and fewer on domestic travel. Everything was okay afterward; it was just average, nothing special, so I won't elaborate further.

SSautjeWe had a pleasant stay. The location is ideal for exploring the surrounding area. The staff is professional and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. The beds are on the firm side (Asian standard). We also made good use of the facilities such as the water dispenser and the washing and drying machines. The VIP lounge made us feel very welcome.

GGuest UserThe room was comfortable and simply furnished. While the walls and ceiling showed a bit of age, they certainly didn't look dirty or run-down.
We stayed in a quad room (corner unit) this time, and the layout was quite peculiar. The bathroom was a triangular space, awkwardly fitted with a bathtub and an inward-opening door. It felt incredibly cramped for even one adult and one child to shower. To make matters worse, the door was right next to the showerhead, causing water to constantly spray out through the gaps during a shower. Definitely a poor design!
Overall, my impression was decent, and the cleanliness was average. However, considering the room and the price, it still offers good value for money.
The absolute highlight, in my opinion, is the fantastic location! They also have an affiliated parking lot.
On a side note, there's a Lin Family Fen Yuan (tapioca dessert shop) right next door, to the left of the hotel. It's incredibly chewy and delicious – highly recommended! 😍
The Wenhua Road Night Market is also a pleasant 8-10 minute walk down the alley diagonally opposite the hotel. 👍

Ddisplay_name_We had a great stay at the hotel! The facilities were fantastic, with a fun foosball table, PlayStation, and an awesome breakfast and supper. The gatchapon and board game room were a unique touch that really added to the experience. The room itself was very comfortable, and I especially liked the AI assistant for added convenience.
The only downside was the location—it was a bit far from key attractions. While there was a bus stop nearby, we couldn't catch the bus due to a detour from ongoing construction or something. Despite this, it didn’t detract too much from the overall experience. Highly recommend this place for a fun, comfortable stay!

AAnonymous UserThis hostel is super close to Chiayi train station, which is incredibly convenient. It's located down an alleyway, so it's not noisy at all. Light Hostel is by far the most satisfying hostel I've ever stayed in, both in terms of cleanliness and facilities. It offers great value for money:
1. The lobby has individual shoe lockers, and you change into indoor slippers before entering the rooms, which is very hygienic.
2. The dorm beds have blackout curtains, providing privacy and preventing disturbances from roommates. There's a small reading light at the head of the bed, so you don't have to worry about dim lighting when reading or using your phone at night. There are hooks at the foot of the bed for hanging clothes or towels.
3. The bathrooms are exceptionally clean and tidy. If you're an early riser or come back late, there are hairdryers in the common area, so you don't disturb your roommates. Each room has its own water heater, so you don't have to wait long for hot water when showering.
4. The lobby has a water dispenser with 24-hour hot water, and both the kitchen and common areas are very clean.
If you're visiting Chiayi, Light Hostel is an excellent choice!

GGuest UserChiayi is a quiet town on the edge of alishan mountains, as such there are not many major shops and eateries around. South Urban is a luxurious hotel standing in the middle of the quiet town. The popular food and night market are within 15min walking distance from the hotel (there is u-bike stand just opposite the hotel, but there were no bikes available when we headed out in the evening).
The hotel staff were generally friendly, but there are not many amenities available to guests. There were only hair dryer and bedroom slippers available. The hotel did provide two bottles of water, and there is a water dispenser at the lobby if guests need more water.
Other tourist attractions within 20-30 minutes walk around are prison, Hiroki village, railway park.

LLU CHENGTSUNGThe room is comfortable, the high floor has a beautiful view, and the balcony overlooks the plain. It is adjacent to Nice Department Store. The restaurant in the department store is good, and there are restaurants of similar quality in Japan.

MMatejHI chose An Lan Jie Hotel primarily for its location, and it did not disappoint. It's literally a 3-5 minute walk from Chiayi Train Station and the bus pick-up point for Alishan . If you're planning an early morning trip up the mountain, you simply cannot beat this convenience. There's also a Family Mart right across the street and plenty of local eateries nearby .
The staff were a highlight—genuinely friendly, helpful, and spoke good English . They provided clear instructions for self-check-in (the whole place uses digital door codes, so you don't need to worry about losing a key card) .
I stayed in a private room, which was clean, comfortable, and exactly as pictured. The common area on the 14th floor is a real bonus—it's beautifully decorated, has a great city view, and offers free tea and coffee for guests . The bed was comfortable, and the Wi-Fi worked well .
A few small things to note: the bathrooms are functional but can be a bit compact [7]. Also, be aware that towels aren't provided (you can rent one for a small fee), so you might want to bring your own .
Overall, this is a fantastic, budget-friendly option for solo travelers or couples who prioritize location and cleanliness. It’s the perfect base for exploring Chiayi and catching that first bus to Alishan. I would definitely stay here again.

AAlb33My husband and I were visiting my brother. Stay there for two nights. The celling was quite low and the bathroom was OK. However, overall cleanness is a bit below standard. The flooring in the shower seemed dirty and well used, we were not confident to walk in the shower with our bare foot.

GGuest UserGreat location near the Chiayi train station. Very convenient if you plan a day trip to Alishan. However we found ants and cockroaches in our room. It was manageable on a budget but if insects make you uncomfortable I would not recommend.
