"Overall a Great Stay, Though Service Left Room for Improvement. We recently completed a 3-day, 2-night stay at this hotel, booking a package that included both breakfast and dinner—which I highly recommend. While many local guests opt for day trips or single-night stays, staying two nights allowed us to fully enjoy the experience. Property & Amenities: The property is a traditional, slightly dated onsen hotel in terms of room amenities, but the public areas are well-maintained and clean. The location is also extremely convenient. Service Experience: Most of the staff—including the male receptionists, buffet team, and bar staff—were wonderfully welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately, our interaction with one front desk staff member, Ms. Morikawa, was disappointing. Although she understands English, her attitude towards us was noticeably cold and distant. Having traveled extensively throughout Japan and internationally, the contrast in hospitality was clear, particularly when we observed her interacting warmly with Japanese guests right after being dismissive with us. We felt compelled to bring this matter to the attention of the Front Desk Manager. While we rarely feel the need to raise service concerns in Japan, we felt it was important to share our experience regarding being treated differently as foreign guests. Aside from this incident, we enjoyed our time and appreciated the efforts of the rest of the team."

"If you enjoy an expensive, overcrowded hotel with little personal service, you've come to the right place! Pay premium to do your own check-in and scan your own passports too! The saving grace for this hotel are the rooms: Such a gorgeous view of Lake Toya! You can also see Mt Yotei in the distance, as well as the beautiful Nakajima island in the middle of the lake. The rooms are spacious and you can watch the nightly fireworks from the comfort of your balcony. Both the breakfast and dinner buffets are served in the cavernous Le Vent restaurant where the spread is fairly extensive but arguably underwhelming. Did I mention a JPY 11k (that's right) lost room key card charge?? A 7-pointer for me and I would search for alternatives if I were to stay at Lake Toya again."

"This is a long-standing four-star Japanese onsen ryokan in Lake Toya, located at the entrance of the onsen town. If you're driving from Muroran, it's the first hotel you'll reach, making it very convenient for loading and unloading luggage with a chartered car. The female staff at the front desk spoke fluent English with no accent and at a moderate pace, making communication very smooth. Her English proficiency was even better than the front desk staff at Hilton Niseko. The service follows a traditional Japanese ryokan style. Upon check-out, they print the accommodation tax receipt and place it in an envelope, adding a nice touch of formality. The stay included dinner on the night of arrival and breakfast the next morning. The restaurant offered great views and a wide variety of food choices. There were many individual travelers and almost no tour groups, making it good value for money, though the food taste was only average. The onsen facilities met four-star standards, with appropriately sized pools and uncrowded shower areas. However, the changing rooms lacked lockers; clothes had to be placed in open baskets, with only small cabinets available for locking valuables, so privacy for clothing storage was somewhat limited. The hotel is not far from the fireworks boat pier, but it's not the closest, and the fireworks boat experience was mediocre. Being at the end of the onsen town means a bit of a walk to reach the shops."

"Right by Lake Toya, super convenient! It's one of the many hotels lining the lake. The facilities here are pretty decent. The front desk staff spoke English well and even told me about the nightly firework show over the lake. Breakfast was also quite good, and it seems like a popular spot with lots of guests from Taiwan and Hong Kong. The room was a bit small, but perfectly fine for a solo traveler. It had a safe and a TV. Lake Toya's natural scenery is beautiful; I'd definitely go back when the weather's nice. The hotel also has free hot springs, great for warming up and relaxing."

Thoughtfully, they arrange for you to change into comfortable slippers and offer a welcome drink; everything flows naturally and without pretense. I particularly remember a young female staff member with glasses who, with her fluent English and attentive, thorough explanations, made me feel incredibly comfortable and respected. Encountering such dedicated individuals during a trip is undoubtedly a rare stroke of luck. And the hotel's facilities are full of surprises! Outside the large public bath, complimentary drinks are available, along with table tennis and arcade games, adding a playful touch to your relaxation. The lobby features Japanese snacks and board games, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere; the relaxation area on the second floor is even more serene and comfortable – once you sit down, you won't want to leave. The dining experience here is simply sublime. Various alcoholic beverages are kept in ice buckets, freely awaiting wine enthusiasts! Dinner is exquisite and innovative; each dish is a stunning work of art, so delicious that it makes you want to return just for the food. Breakfast is delicate and abundant, awakening your taste buds and setting a wonderful tone for the day. The shiso soda thoughtfully provided in the in-room mini-fridge is incredibly refreshing after a hot spring soak, leaving a lasting, pleasant aftertaste. The toiletries have a delicate fragrance, leaving the skin soft and comfortable after use – even these small details are not overlooked. The overall service is friendly and sincere, without being overly familiar, yet maintaining just the right amount of professionalism. It truly feels like a 'just right' luxury experience! The hotel's surroundings are quiet and pristine, and transportation to and from the lakeside is convenient. Whether taking a taxi or using the hotel's shuttle service to JR Toya Station, it's effortless. It feels like Hotel Premium Lake Toya is not just a hotel, but a cherished memory of a journey. Here, the scenery is more than just scenery, and the service is more than just service – it's a reason to return to square one and rediscover the beauty of life."

"This hotel is a hidden gem where I stayed for three nights. It has four floors, with the entrance and front desk located on the second floor, accessible by an elevator. On the first floor, there are separate male and female onsens (hot springs), each with three indoor baths and one open-air bath. The changing rooms are equipped with washing machines and dryers (laundry costs a very affordable 100 yen per wash, and you can buy a laundry pod at the front desk for 100 yen). The hotel offers a set breakfast (included with the stay) and dinner (can be added on arrival for 3300 yen per person), both served individually rather than buffet-style. Breakfast times are 7:00, 7:30, or 8:00 AM, while dinner is at 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, or 7:30 PM. There's a friendly Chinese-speaking staff member from Beijing at the front desk. The guest rooms are Japanese-style tatami rooms, offering views of Lake Toya and a popular photo spot. Each room includes a safe, kettle, cold drinking water, sterilized cups, a writing desk, a table lamp, a massage device, and lotion, among other amenities. The hotel also features a coffee bar and a souvenir shop near the front desk. Each room has a toilet and a sink, but no shower. The only downsides are that the entrance door to the room and the bathroom door are quite low, probably around 1.8 meters, and there's no drying room for ski gear (though with permission, you can place your ski equipment on the floor in the front desk area). The air conditioning has three powerful settings, so it never felt cold. The windows are double-paned."

"Stayed at the Deluxe Villa in WE Hotel Toya Dusit Collection and it was honestly one of the nicest stays during our Hokkaido trip. The villa was extremely spacious, clean, and beautifully designed with a very modern Japanese style. What surprised us most was how big the villa actually was — it came with 3 bedrooms, 3 toilets, a large living room, dining area, laundry room, and even 2 floors. It truly felt more like staying in a luxury private house rather than a hotel. The atmosphere was very peaceful and relaxing, perfect for a getaway near Lake Toya. We especially loved the warm wood interior, tatami-style seating area, huge windows, and cozy living space. The bedrooms were comfortable and the entire villa was very well maintained."

"*⭐ Amazing stay at Toya Kanko Hotel with Lake View* Booked a Lake View room and the view was unreal — woke up to Lake Toya right outside the window. At night we could see fireworks from the room, zero crowds needed. Felt so special. *Highlights:* 1. *Private onsen option*: Booked a private family onsen and it was worth every yen. Clean, spacious, and relaxing with lake views. No rushing with others. 2. *Fireworks*: Room faced the lake so we watched the nightly summer fireworks from bed. Hotel staff even told us the timing. 10/10 experience. 3. *Room*: Spacious Japanese-Western room, tatami + bed. Clean and well-maintained. 4. *Location*: Right by the lake + short walk to shops. Buffet dinner had local Hokkaido food too."

"Though small, it has everything you need. As a solo traveler, finding accommodation in Lake Toya is a big challenge, let alone one with such an excellent location. It's truly impeccable ❤️. I enjoyed the fireworks over the lake and strolled under the cherry blossom trees."

"What a fantastic stay! I initially chose this place because I wanted to experience Lake Toya's beauty on a budget, and I was genuinely impressed. While its location isn't as central as some of the more popular hotels, Lake Toya itself is huge, offering unique views from every angle. The traditional Japanese-style tatami room was incredibly spacious – a rare comfortable stay during my Hokkaido trip. The owner was also very kind. I had booked a dinner and breakfast plan for two people, but when they realized I was alone, they doubled down on my dinner portion! The variety was great, and the food was delicious – I ate until I was completely satisfied. Plus, since it's not one of the super popular hotels, it wasn't too crowded. I practically had the hot springs (including the outdoor one!) all to myself in the evening. After my soak, I bought a couple of beers, and enjoying them while watching the snowy scenery brought such a sense of peace. I even went for another dip before checking out in the morning, feeling completely refreshed as I concluded my Lake Toya trip."
