"Before my trip, I booked a quadruple room at the Suimeikan hotel in Gero, Japan, through Trip.com. The booking confirmation stated '2 floor mattresses,' but the pictures showed two beds. I assumed the room configuration would be two beds and two floor mattresses. However, the front desk assigned me a room with four floor mattresses. I felt this wasn't what I had booked, and after almost an hour of fruitless discussion with the front desk, they insisted this was the room type I reserved. They said if I wanted a room with two beds, it would be considered an upgrade and require an additional payment of 17,600 JPY for two nights, which I obviously couldn't accept. Ultimately, I had to call Trip.com to complain. Trip.com's communication with the hotel also led nowhere, and in the end, Trip.com covered the cost. I really have to praise Trip.com's service here; their response to my complaint was very quick, and their solution after failing to negotiate with the hotel was decisive. I'm very satisfied with that, which is why I typically book all my travel through Trip.com. While their prices might sometimes be slightly higher than other platforms, their after-sales service is absolutely reliable. When issues arise, you realize that this slight premium is definitely worth it."

"Environment and Service: The hotel is quite large and relatively new, with a big courtyard perfect for a stroll. There's also a shuttle service to and from the station. The only minor drawback is that rooms on one side face the train tracks, which can be a bit noisy, and the soundproofing isn't great."

"This is by far the most traditional Japanese-style hotel I've ever stayed in, and it set a wonderful tone for our Nagoya trip. My parents absolutely loved it. **Service:** Standard Japanese service – very attentive. Although English communication was a bit challenging, they diligently used translation software. **Facilities:** Impeccable! I enjoyed my favorite onsen; the outdoor bath was truly exceptional, and the indoor one was also very spacious. The room decor was classic, just like something out of a Japanese drama, and someone even came to prepare our beds in the evening. At first, I worried it might be cold, but the electric blanket underneath was incredibly warm. So unique! For dinner, even though the variety was limited, the chicken wings were exceptionally delicious, and the fishball hotpot was also very good. My dad even complimented the rice! **Cleanliness:** Very good. Despite the older facilities, everything was spotless. **Environment:** The outdoor foot onsen looked so interesting, but I didn't get to try it this time. You could easily spend half a day just exploring the hotel itself. If you're not rushed, staying two days to fully soak it all in would be wonderful. The hotel is located at the highest point in Gero. Walking slowly downhill from there, time seemed to slow down, and everything felt peaceful and serene. I will always remember this place. ☺️"

"This is a quintessential traditional Japanese onsen ryokan. The hot springs leave your skin smooth and your muscles relaxed, the beef is delicious, the facilities are spotless, and the service is incredibly thoughtful and attentive (even though most of the younger staff are Burmese, they're exceptionally well-trained and just as good as Japanese staff). I especially recommend the private onsen – soaking in the hot spring while watching trains pass in the distance is like something out of an anime! Plus, the massage therapist grandpa here is skilled and reasonably priced; just make sure to book early. A post-bath pressure massage from him will melt away all the day's fatigue. This ryokan is within walking distance of all the attractions. If you arrive outside of shuttle hours, you can use a designated taxi from the station for free. I'd love to visit again during autumn leaf season."

"What a satisfying trip! The duplex room had a living room on the lower level and a bedroom, bathroom, and open-air bath on the upper level, fulfilling my long-held dream of staying in a duplex. The hotel was huge, with public baths on the 2nd and 8th floors respectively. Both were large and very comfortable to soak in, but the open-air bath in the room was even more convenient and relaxing, especially in the morning while enjoying the view – a wonderful experience. The room was fully equipped. Dinner was arranged at the Western restaurant, and my husband said the sound system there was incredibly expensive. Breakfast was a buffet, mainly Japanese-style, which didn't quite suit our tastes."

"I decided to come to Japan on a whim as the Qingming Festival was approaching. I found that the ticket price from Shanghai to Nagoya was cheap, so I decided to come to Gero to soak in hot springs for a few days. The flight arrived on time, but there were a lot of people at the customs. I arrived at the Meitetsu entrance at 13:50. I bought the express train to Nagoya Station at 14:14. After getting off the train at 14:35, I immediately rushed to the JR entrance according to the instructions. I actually caught the 14:48 Takayama Express to Gero. I took a free taxi to the hotel at the door after leaving the station. The presidential suite has many rooms. It should be recently renovated and the facilities are quite new. The meals are good. The first day was Hida beef hot pot, the second day was Hida beef barbecue, and of course there were crayfish and abalone..."

"The hotel service was very thoughtful, and they even had staff who spoke Chinese. The room was very comfortable. We booked a private onsen, which was wonderful, and the room itself was spacious, bright, and fully equipped. There was plenty of hot water, and the bedding was comfortable and warm. The public bath was also clean, tidy, and well-appointed. The hotel's location is excellent, and they even provide a free shuttle bus, which was a very considerate touch. There's a Lawson convenience store nearby, making it super convenient for shopping. It was also very easy to visit the nearby Shirakawa-go village. Our vacation and leisure experience was fantastic. Both breakfast and dinner at the restaurant were abundant and delicious. Thank you for your excellent service!"

Gero Onsen is one of Japan's leading hot springs. Please enjoy the beautiful skin in the open-air bath where you can spend a relaxing time in the clear air.

"+ : beautiful, traditional Japanese hotel with nice tatami rooms. The room was spacious and confortable with all necessary amenities. The outdoor onsen was great and almost empty when I went. The breakfast buffet is ok. - : a LOT of stairs in the building (very difficult for elderly and disabled people, but also people with big suitcases!). There is a car that theoretically can pick you up at the train station or drop you off but I couldn’t use it when I arrived because I received no information on it beforehand or when I left because it only starts at 10am. The onsen is not tattoo friendly and you have to pay for the tattoo cover. Staff was kind but most of the time unable to offer solutions Overall, a beautiful ryokan but for the price, you can find better."

A hot spring inn located on a hill above Gero Onsen. Surrounded by rich nature, the hot spring town is full of life and becomes even more atmospheric after sunset when the lights are lit.

"First, the food was pretty good. You can pre-order an extra menu for dinner; check the hotel's official website for details. Both dinner and breakfast are buffet style, and you can sit anywhere. The hotel's location is a bit inconvenient; the entire walk from Gero is uphill and exhausting. You can book a shuttle bus or take a taxi; it's about a 3-4 minute walk. This time, I chose a room with a private open-air hot spring bath, which was very comfortable. The large public bath on the second floor is also quite spacious. The hotel has a complimentary relaxation area where you can sample plum wine and fruit juice popsicles. There are massage chairs on the first floor for 300 yen for 15 minutes. The lounge on the second floor has complimentary foot massagers."

Gero Hongyekan Wanboting is really great! In Japan's three famous springs, Geroizumi, the service is very good. There is an open-air bath on the roof of a sister hotel, and there is a car to pick up and drop off at any time from 9 to 12 in the evening, which is very convenient. The water quality is so good, the sun that soaks up the skin will slide down when it falls on it. A wonderful hotel experience! The beauty at the front desk drove me out to buy urgently needed products when I was in an emergency. Every detail was great. The Japanese-style room was also spacious. I really like this place. I will definitely go again if I have a chance, and I will definitely stay here again. hotel. Breakfast is included, and the environment and ceremony are very beautiful! The hotel itself has indoor and outdoor hot springs. When it snows, get up early in the morning to soak in that outdoor hot spring, which is quiet and beautiful! Its sister pavilion has a very strange inclined elevator, and the hot spring water is the smoothest I have ever soaked in.

33HrocketA charming and comfortable traditional Japanese ryokan. The location is excellent, directly opposite the JR station; you can easily reach it by following the pedestrian signs across the railway tracks. The staff were incredibly warm and attentive. They kindly allowed us to store our luggage before check-in, which was great for exploring the onsen town without any burden. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious and ample Japanese meals (washoku), for which you could confirm a preferred seating time. Complimentary coffee was also available in the first-floor lobby lounge. The onsen facilities were excellent, including a lovely open-air bath (rotenburo). Overall, we were extremely satisfied and would highly recommend this ryokan.

I was worried about getting around because it seemed remote, but they provided pick-up and drop-off service, so it wasn't a problem at all. The food was delicious, the room was spacious, and the hot springs were wonderful. The staff were also very friendly, which I appreciated.

GGuest UserStayed there for two nights. In-room onsen was good, staff at reception excellent. Food was simply terrible. Rice was cold (personally it’s simply unacceptable in any Japanese restaurant except for sushi may be?), the chef seems to enjoy making fusion dishes (and except that they were unappetising). To name but a few, we had strawberry mousse for starter, tofu (which was bitter) and pickles with miso for mains, and who’d put diced apple in an apple sorbet?? (Felt as though I was biting into ice cubes). The waitress was also extremely impatient and rushed us through our meals (we finished our dinners within 35 minutes, breakfasts 20). I honestly cannot recommend this hotel. Sorry, but no.

GGuest UserThe train arrived at Gero Station. I originally planned to walk to the hotel, but I saw the hotel sign as soon as I got out of the station. It was quite a surprise. The check-in process was very smooth. When we went through the formalities, the luggage had been delivered to the room. Then we arranged dinner and breakfast, explained the bathing time, and ladies could specially choose their favorite bathrobes, each one was different. The only drawback was that the bathhouse on B1 did not have an open-air bath, and the men's and women's baths changed at midnight. The next morning, I got up early to go to the open-air bath on the 5th floor. The hotel also had several buses to Gero Station the next morning.

YYuzuojianThe shaking of the elevator 🛗 spills the cup of coffee. I felt very dangerous. Welcome drinks were very good. The service of Oden 🍢 and Ramen 🍜 is the best. The private open-air bath was not good, but the underground bath was good. For dinner, grilled meat on a pottery plate 🥩 Hobamiso is delicious. Free alcohol drinks were also good. The water splitting of the sub-flowing water in Hida was the most fun. At breakfast, Orange 🍊 was very sweet and delicious. I wish I had ice cream. In terms of price, I will give you a passing score. In addition, please provide customer service. I would like to use it again. Fireworks 🎇 also looked a little!
