The open-air bath was great, but the hotel has too many stairs, which is inconvenient when you have luggage. The parking lot is outside, and although they drive you there to park and pick you up, it's still a bit of a hassle. Both breakfast and dinner were buffets and of high quality.

+ : beautiful, traditional Japanese hotel with nice tatami rooms. The room was spacious and confortable with all necessary amenities. The outdoor onsen was great and almost empty when I went. The breakfast buffet is ok. - : a LOT of stairs in the building (very difficult for elderly and disabled people, but also people with big suitcases!). There is a car that theoretically can pick you up at the train station or drop you off but I couldn’t use it when I arrived because I received no information on it beforehand or when I left because it only starts at 10am. The onsen is not tattoo friendly and you have to pay for the tattoo cover. Staff was kind but most of the time unable to offer solutions Overall, a beautiful ryokan but for the price, you can find better.

I made a last-minute booking and went to Gero Onsen without realizing it would be packed with young people. The inn was pretty much as I expected, neither exceeding nor falling short of my hopes. I only had breakfast, which again, was fairly standard – nothing great, nothing terrible. My overall impression is that it could be much better if they put a bit more effort into renovating each room individually.

The hotel is old. However the onsen is great. Umbrella was provided for room guests if it rains. Also the breakfast variety is wide. The key is the foot massage machine is amazing. Thank you

It was my second hotel in Gero. Staff was very friendly and give me the room in accordance with my needs. The dinner and breakfast was excellent. Just one thing is necessary to take in mind, when you are planning to stay. There are some internal stairs and if you have some problems with legs, it can be difficult to go to some facilities. The onsen on the roof (open) was fantastic, but other one - on the 1 floor - a little bit difficult to catch.

We used this hotel for our honeymoon. The interior was rather old-fashioned, suggesting it might be a hotel that was acquired and is now being operated by another hotel. The service didn't meet our expectations considering the price, which was a bit disappointing. The view from the balcony leading to the open-air bath was nice, and as long as there was the hot spring water from Gero Onsen, we were somewhat satisfied. However, alcohol was an extra charge at dinner, which made the price unsatisfactory.
