"Overall, the hotel’s cleanliness was excellent; however, the service was disappointing—starting at the reception, where staff made promises they failed to keep and evaded their responsibilities. I had handed over clothes for dry cleaning, but they were returned having undergone standard washing instead. Furthermore, the clothes were not clean, and an expensive shirt was ruined. The staff refused to take responsibility, claiming I had not specified dry cleaning—which was untrue—though I was eventually paid £100 in compensation. That was my experience during my stay."

"I was a little worried after reading the reviews, but everything was fine after checking in. The room was large, the hot water was good, and the location was very convenient. The only shortcoming was that there was no information from the hotel before arriving, which was puzzling. I had to actively find a way to contact the store to inform me. It would be perfect if this could be improved. However, this price is considered cheap here, so there is no need to worry about no one booking. Hi!"

"The place was amazing and situated in a great place. Very near to a lot of amenities like bars and restaurants plus some shops. The staff were amazing and so polite. We was made to feel like we was at home. Our room was huge and had a great view of the gardens. Breakfast was outstanding and very tasty highly recommend. "Location: It takes about 10 minutes to walk from Windermere Railway Station. The way to go is downhill, and the way back is uphill. It is quite close. The accommodation is self-check-in, there is access control, no elevator, you need to carry your luggage, the highest third floor The room is quite big, health ok, hot water is a bit slow, the room has heating Hotel breakfast (8:30 ～ 9:30) is not bad, there are many choices, you can fill in the table at the door one day in advance. "Rum Doodle, well it was our first time at The Lakes and it certainly won't be our last! The location was just right with being part way between Windermere town and Bowness and was walkable to both. There were plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in walking distance as well as lake Windermere itself. We found Rum Doodle with ease and was greeted at the door with a smile and friendly man (the owner but didn't catch his name). We were bought a fresh glass of apple and orange juice to our room which was refreshing after a long drive to Windermere. Our room was comfy, not too big or too small, a wardrobe, seating in the bay window, hairdryer, hot drink making facilities, wine glasses with cork screw and bottle opener. Very modern, clean and well presented bathroom with soft and fluffy towels, and a really nice shower. The bed was very comfortable and welcomed after a busy day exploring the surrounding area. Breakfast was really good with cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt, toast, and then a choice of breakfast which were great too. We had a pleasant and informative chat at breakfast with the lady that works there who gave us the heads up on some driving routes to try and avoid which was really useful. After a day out exploring we went back to Rum Doodle to a cleaned room and freshly made bed with the tea and coffee replenished, so we were able to just drop and the bed with a nice cuppa and biscuit. Then out for a walk, some lovely food and a couple of drinks. We couldn't recommend The Lakes and Rum Doodle enough! Well worth every penny"

"The room is clean and tidy, the bath is convenient, you can cook, the service is thoughtful, and the scenery is superb. It takes 15 minutes to walk up from the gas station under the mountain, and the road is beautiful. There are many rural roads to continue to move forward, the scenery is getting more and more beautiful, passing through several small villages, it is convenient to eat and drink. It is easier to get motion sickness by taking a nearby bus, and the time is more than 1 hour."

"Let’s start with the absolute best part of the stay: stepping out of the back of the hotel. The mature gardens stretch right down to the water’s edge, complete with the hotel's own private jetty. Sitting out on the terrace with a coffee in the morning, watching the mist rise off Windermere and the boats drift past, is worth a massive chunk of the room rate alone. Because it’s located right in the heart of Bowness-on-Windermere, the convenience is unbeatable. You can park up (fair warning: parking is a hefty £25 per day) and completely forget about your car. The Bowness boat piers are a two-minute stroll away, and you are surrounded by local pubs and restaurants."
