"My stay here last year was great, so I decided to come back for my round-the-island trip this year. When checking in, I asked the front desk about motorcycle parking. The staff member, whose name tag said 'Intern,' told me I could park anywhere on the white lines along the road next to the hotel. I then asked if the parking lot across the street, where I parked last year, was still an option. A man and a woman next to the counter said that was for cars and heavy motorcycles (even though I wasn't riding a heavy motorcycle last year either). I said 'okay' and went to look for white lines on the road next to the hotel (as shown in the photo). Turns out, the road had just been repaved and there were no markings at all. If you expect us to find our own parking, you should at least clarify that the road markings are gone. I'm not a local, so how would I know what markings used to be there? And the full-time staff member next to the intern also just replied, as if it wasn't their problem, 'You can park on the white lines nearby.' Where exactly are these 'nearby white lines'? Anyway, the breakfast was good. If you're on a budget, I highly recommend this place."

"For the location, it's quite far out from the center of Hualien. So you will need to hail a taxi or call the reception desk to book a shuttle bus to pick you up from the station and to the station. Another thing to know is that Uber doesn't work here so you will need to download another app or just physically hail a taxi. However, this is the best hotel I've stayed so far in Taiwan. The room & toilet are extremely spacious and clean. There is a lot of facilities in this hotel that includes a free pool table, ping pong table and swimming pool for you to enjoy. The breakfast buffet is also quite good with a lot of selection as well."

"The location is truly excellent, but the hotel is clearly showing its age. You can tell they make an effort with the cleaning, though. Also, for some reason, the air conditioning couldn't be adjusted – I woke up cold in the middle of the night and had to turn it off completely. Staying on the top floor (8th floor), you could distinctly hear the booster pump running, but thankfully it wasn't too loud."

"This was a wonderful guesthouse. The owner was very welcoming and talkative, and proactively contacted me to let me know my approximate arrival time. I was very satisfied with everything in the room, and what I loved most was that it was just a short walk to the beach. The only downside was that we couldn't see the sunrise due to thick clouds. The breakfast was delicious, but unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures."

"The location is super convenient, just a few minutes' walk directly across from the station. There are also plenty of convenience stores and restaurants nearby, so you have lots of dining options. The hostel lobby is really well-decorated, and there's free coffee and milk tea available, which was perfect for relaxing while waiting to check-in before 3 PM. The room was a four-person dorm with a private bathroom, and my stay was very pleasant. They offer free breakfast, but the selection is a bit limited – mainly just bread with different jams and ham. I had a wonderful time in Hualien! I hope to come back here again someday."

Best best best hotel we have ever stayed in. Services provided was excellent. All staff were very genuinely. It really felt like a 5 star hotel. We stayed in another 5 star hotel in Jiaoxi which is No. 1 in Jiaoxi but the service cannot be matched. Well done to all the staff. Room was always clean. Thank you to the staff who cleaned our spectacle. It was a nice gesture. Different snacks were topped up everyday. The face mask provided was so good! Surrounding of the hotel was very nice. We had the gorge view and OMG! We don't mind waking up to this view everyday. We hope they will contruct a stairs for guest to go down to the gorge. It is a waste to just see it from the top. Breakfast was good. We could see that they have made an effort to label which is vegetarian and which is not. It's very thoughtful of the restaurant. However, we had a seafood porridge and thought it was purely seafood but notice there was chicken in it but not written. Maybe they can improve in this. Kids are very well entertained in this hotel. They have a huge play room for them. Indoor pool with heated pool is enough to keep the kids occupied for 2hours at least. They also have daily activities and some are free. Thank you Silk Place for the wonderful stay. We will be back.

Well strategic location Hotel. The room is bright. But the room housekeeping is very poor. Eventhough i requested to clean the room, the auntie did not clean it. She just tidy up the bed very fast and change new towel. Never vacuum/mop the floor, dust and hair on the floor very obviously. So don’t expect she vacuum the bed if u request to change the bed sheet. Got flea/ bed bugs. I thought my eczema flare up. But once both my parents also experienced the same. And I noticed the bed sheet got a few spots a little dot. Then yeah it’s bed bugs. I hope the housekeeping auntie can make it better.

The room doesn't come with bottled water, but there's a water dispenser available. The bed was really comfortable, and the view was great. I booked a sea-view room, so I could see the ocean. It was so relaxing and comfortable to soak in the tub while looking out at the sea. It was a perfect time to unwind.

Had a very underwhelming experience for the money that we paid for this hotel. Decor was very outdated (i.e. 2000s), which was understandable as this is an old hotel. Service staff was quite rude when we asked for directions and recommendations for food and things to see around the area. Do note that the carpark is very small and there are no parking lots surrounding the area. When we checked in, the carpark attendant told us that their carpark lot was at full capacity.

This hostel is absolutely fantastic! It's about a five to six-minute walk from Hualien Station. The beds and towels are very clean, and the bathroom is spacious with a large mirror. You can even enjoy a view of the mountain city from the room. The staff are friendly and enthusiastic, and they offer free bicycle rentals. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next visit!

During my recent trip to Hualien, I had the unique opportunity to stay at the Peace Prison Cafe Inn Hostel, and it truly exceeded my expectations. As soon as I arrived, the prison theme instantly caught my attention. The rooms were designed to resemble prison cells, which added an intriguing and immersive element to my stay. One thing that stood out to me was the absence of a traditional reception desk. Instead, to gain entry, all guests need to do is call the contact number provided, which adds a touch of mystery to the experience. The lady working there was exceptionally helpful and patient, even taking the time to explain how to use the facilities in Chinese. Her assistance made my stay all the more enjoyable. As a solo traveler, I couldn't help but appreciate the eerie vibes that the place exudes, especially since I'm a fan of horror. Every night, I found myself immersed in an atmosphere that perfectly catered to my taste. It's not often that you come across a hostel that provides such a unique and thrilling ambiance. Cleanliness is always a priority for me, and I was pleased to find that Peace Prison Cafe Inn Hostel did not disappoint in this aspect. The rooms were well-maintained, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant stay. It's clean, it's close to the train station, where you can rent a scooter to explore Taroko National Park, also have a gas station next door to refill your scooter and you are next to the main road to go to the National Park. There is enough stuff to cook yourself something. Communication with the landlord on self check-in went well and I could check-in earlier because my bed was free, actually I was the only guest in the dorm on my first of two nights. It was calm and the entire hostel & bathroom was very clean. I liked, that you can buy razors, one-way towels, toothbrush kit for a small fee, even if I didn't need it. The only downside, and that's why I gave it -3 stars in amenity was, that the mattress was so hard, it felt like sleeping on the floor. The room had a bit of strange moisture smell, but I could get used to it quickly. If there would be a thicker, less hard mattress, that place would get total points. On the back door / balcony you have a nice view of the mountains. (The picture attached is taken from the road, but if you crop the lower half, it's what you see)
