The hotel is right in front of the sightseeing boat, which is very convenient. The sea view room was great, the view was endless. The room was quite comfortable. The air conditioner is a bit loud, so those who are sensitive to sound should wear earplugs. The air conditioner may blow onto the bed, but if you sleep with your head and feet upside down, you won't be blown by the wind.

Pillows were a bit thin for us. Other than that, everything is wonderful. They even have a coffee grinder. Lovely for a coffee drinkers like us. The location is great if you are looking for peace and love the sound of nature

The onsen baths are, without a doubt, the crown jewel of the resort. In the Main Building, the basement offers an extraordinary variety of baths, from the enchanting Cave Bath to the rustic Log Bath, carved from a thousand-year-old tree. The Bubble Bath delivers a gentle, soothing soak, but the Massage Bath steals the show. With water shooting from a high ceiling, targeting sore muscles in the shoulders and back, it’s a deeply therapeutic experience. Nice location with free parking. Facing the lake and next to the Lake Akan Sighseeing Cruise. Close proximity to shopping street for wood craft and souvenirs. Great dinner but breakfast so so. A bit noisy at the eatinv place as many guests are sit in a hall for dimner.

Shin-Akan is obviously an old hotel. The buffet is OK. The highlight is that there is a large public outdoor swimming pool upstairs. It is mixed for men and women. You need swimsuits. The hotel has prepared them. You can wear theirs. There are swimsuits in the bathroom, or you can wear your own. The open-air hot spring is quite good. You basically take a bath in the hotel's hot spring. The bathroom is very small. In winter, Lake Akan is completely frozen. Maybe because of the weather, you can hardly see any scenery. It is more fun to play snowmobiles and snow sleds. The hotel has a very big problem, because there is a self-service grill for dinner, and many people will grill meat. The restaurant is completely open on the first floor, making the whole building full of the smell of barbecue, which is very bad.

This is an old hotel that opened in 1976. The overall facilities have the feeling of that era. Although it is old, it is still relatively clean and hygienic. Considering that labor costs in Japan are relatively high, it is acceptable not to provide daily hotel cleaning for multiple-day stays. Those who mind this can avoid this hotel. The breakfast environment is very good. On the 10th floor of the hotel, there is a very good view overlooking Kushiro, which feels like a dream back to the Showa era. The space of the triple room is relatively large because it is set up in the corner of the building. I think this is good.

The hotel was great! The onsen was really just a public bath, but was still comfy. Free snacks on the top floor like ice cream, yakult at different timings made it even better. There was even free ramen supper on the ground floor at night. Room was comfy. Location is great, with the airport bus stop just around the corner, and other bus stops to bring us around.

Excellent location, right in front of Nusamai Bridge and walking distance to the fisherman wharf. There are a lot of eateries around the hotel, all with pretty good reviews. Breakfast was great too, lots of selection and taste good. The only thing I don't quite like was the room. Booked a 3 bedded room, room was clean, no view, basic amenities, nothing special about the room. Air con is controlled by a centralised system, I went in June, and it was too warm at night. I feel the price is quite expensive for the room.

Although it was supposed to be non-smoking, I smelled cigarettes when I entered the room, so I gave it 4 stars, but it is a good enough environment for the price. The station and the bus terminal are right in front of you, so you can start your schedule for the next day right away. It was a once-in-a-few-years heavy snow day, so the warm hot spring was very appreciated, and the breakfast included was very helpful as the next day was a 7-hour bus ride to Sapporo.
