Guest UserThe hostel is located in the old town, in a great location, very close to Nanqiao Bridge and Yulei Mountain. The owner is very talkative and a seasoned hiking expert; hiking enthusiasts are welcome to chat with him.

Guest UserYou might be a little worried if you don't know how to check in until the last minute, and if you don't speak English or Chinese.
When I arrived, the owner was very kind and helped me with a lot of things.
The kitchen window was wide open, so it was a little cold inside the building,
and the bunk beds had no curtains, so there was no private space at all,
but aside from that, the environment was very good.
There were people always occupying the living room and sofa, which are shared spaces, and I'm not sure if they were tourists or related people, but you might find it a little uncomfortable.
There were no particular cleaning rules, which are common in dormitories, and the check-out time was arbitrary, which was nice, so I felt it was a laid-back place that was typical of Chengdu.

Chengdu is a very comfortable city to stay in. Even though it rained occasionally during my few days here, there's a lovely atmosphere perfect for enjoying a coffee in a cafe and watching the rain. The facilities here are quite comprehensive too! You can watch movies, play games, chat, sing and play instruments, have a drink in the evening, and even hit the gym in the basement. It's fantastic!

Anonymous UserThe location of the hostel is very good, but the cleanliness was terrible. There were literally mushrooms growing near the sink in the bathroom. On top of that, I had a horrible experience with another guest in my dorm. When I arrived, she approached me wagging her finger like she was lecturing a child, demanding the room door stay open for fresh air because she disliked perfume (even though the AC was running). The next day, she flung the door wide open even tho she saw me getting dressed, which led to an argument. The night before my checkout, between 10 PM and 1 AM, she opened the door 3 times. When I woke up past midnight due to her noise, she was loudly complaining and slammed the door open. I was mad and immediately closed it and told her in English to be quiet. She grabbed my arm and tried to push me aside to open the door, while shouting at me and saying in English that this is a public room. She went to the reception to complain about me. The staff immediately blamed and accused me of spraying perfume in the middle of the night without even asking for my side of the story. Later, it turned out I hadn't sprayed anything. Although the staff eventually apologized, the way the situation was handled was completely unprofessional and unacceptable.

Zongtu25The location is fantastic, less than a ten-minute walk to Wenshu Monastery, and it's really easy to find. The environment is very quiet, and the beds in the quad room are bigger than dorm beds. There are also dedicated lockers for your belongings, which is a thoughtful touch. The en-suite bathroom has an East Asian style, while the room itself is decorated with a charming wooden, classic touch. The bedding smells lovely, with a subtle floral scent, and there were no hairs or dander – very clean. There's air conditioning and a very responsive hot water system. Most importantly, it's very close to both Wenshu Monastery and People's Park.
This hostel is truly unique! What really captivated me was the cat downstairs; I honestly could spend all day just petting that sweet kitty. I'm very satisfied and definitely planning a second visit in the autumn!

Guest UserI stayed at Chengdu XiangPi Inn for one night (April 14–15, 2026) and booked a bed in the 6-person male-only shared room. Overall, it was a solid budget-friendly option, but there are a few things worth noting depending on what you’re looking for.
The biggest plus is definitely the price—you get exactly what you pay for, and for a short stay it does the job. The room itself was fairly basic but functional. The bed was decent enough for one night, and the space didn’t feel overly cramped despite having multiple occupants. That said, privacy is minimal, as expected in a shared dorm setup.
Cleanliness was okay, though not perfect. The shared bathroom was usable but could have been maintained a bit better, especially during busier hours. If you’re particular about hygiene, this is something to keep in mind.
The atmosphere was quiet enough when I stayed, and most guests were respectful, which made it easier to rest. Staff interactions were limited but smooth—check-in and check-out were straightforward without any issues.
Overall, Chengdu XiangPi Inn is a practical choice if you’re traveling on a tight budget and just need a place to sleep for a night or two. It’s not luxurious, but it’s functional and reasonably comfortable for short stays.

Guest UserExcellent, excellent! I simply have to give this a huge thumbs-up! I was a bit worried about staying in a hostel by myself, but ”Starry Shuttle” was truly fantastic. The room design is really tasteful; it's not like the cramped, traditional bunk beds. Each bunk has its own little private space. The common areas are also very spacious, and I met some great people I could chat with. You can see in the photos that the details are handled really well. To get this kind of environment at this price point is truly ”excellent, excellent”! Full marks, highly recommended! 💯
