"Conveniently Located, but Wouldn't Return Due to Room ConditionOn the bright side, the hotel has an excellent location. It was easy to locate and surrounded by various attractions and convenience stores. The staff at the front desk was polite and accommodating as well. However, the room condition was disappointing. Right after checking in, I noticed a severe musty smell reminiscent of damp, old laundry. Thankfully, the friendly staff provided a handle to open the window, so I aired out the room while eating dinner outside. However, the room was extremely small."

"Excellent stay in Kumamoto! The hotel was clean, modern, and very comfortable. The room was well-maintained and surprisingly spacious, with all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to assist with any questions. The location was convenient, with easy access to public transportation, restaurants, and popular attractions. Check-in and check-out were smooth and efficient, making the overall experience hassle-free. Great value for money and one of the highlights of our trip to Kumamoto. "This hotel is really nice and conveniently located right on top of Sakura Machi mall, so there are plenty of food options and shops for shopping. Right across the street is a pedestrian street, which is great for walking around. It’s not too crowded, so the atmosphere is quite relaxed. There’s also a major bus stop right downstairs, which makes it super convenient—especially if you don’t have a car. If you’re traveling between cities, this is likely a main stop you’ll pass through. For those who drive, you can find parking nearby. The hotel may offer parking discounts at certain locations, but I’m not entirely sure which ones. The hotel itself is beautiful, modern, and smells really nice—feels new and well-maintained. Amenities are quite complete as well. The bed and pillows were just okay, slightly leaning towards the uncomfortable side. However, the bathroom is excellent, with a separate standing shower and a small bathtub. The room I got was also quite cute, with a small sofa area, which was a nice touch."

"Facilities: A very good hotel under Mitsui, the facilities are decent. Although it's a bit old, it's still very good. Hygiene: Very clean, but I mistakenly selected a smoking room, so there was a bit of an odor. Environment: It's very close to Sakuracho, so entertainment and shopping are very convenient. The Kumamon bear at the hotel is really lovely. Service: There was a Chinese-speaking staff member who provided very attentive service throughout and even informed us that there are free drinks on the second floor."

"Having lived in Japan for over ten years, I have to commend this hotel. It far exceeded my expectations. 1. Right outside the door is the largest local bus terminal, making it incredibly convenient to get to the airport, Aso, Amakusa, and Fukuoka. 2. The price is half or even less than half of surrounding hotels. I originally had no expectations, thinking it would just be a cheap place to crash. 3. While the hallway decor looks a bit dated, it perfectly aligns with the MUJI団地 (housing complex) design philosophy. You even use a traditional key to open the door. 4. Although the room has an old-style Japanese business hotel decor, it's exceptionally clean and very spacious. The room design is well-thought-out, making it comfortable and secure to use. 5. Both check-in and check-out at the front desk were handled with meticulous care and polite, professional service. This is something even much more expensive hotels I've stayed at elsewhere often fail to deliver. 6. I stayed here for five consecutive nights and had a great experience. I would definitely choose this hotel again for future family trips."

"Staying at OMO5 Kumamoto by Hoshino Resorts was a truly delightful surprise! The hotel boasts an excellent location, right above a bustling shopping district in the city center, making it incredibly convenient for shopping and dining. What impressed me most was the exclusive outdoor viewing terrace – I could sip coffee while gazing at the magnificent Kumamoto Castle, and both the daytime and nighttime views were absolutely captivating. The room design, with its warm wooden tones and modern feel, was thoughtfully laid out, making for a relaxing and comfortable stay. Combining Hoshino Resorts' signature attentive service with excellent value for money, this is definitely my top recommendation for accommodation when visiting Kumamoto. I highly recommend it to everyone! However, there's one thing I need to mention: even when the air conditioning wasn't on, there were constant drafts of cool air, as if cold air was wafting up from the floor. This was quite uncomfortable."

"Trip.com wouldn't let me cancel, but I ended up getting the Dormy Inn Hot Springs for its lowest price ever! A double room for just over 300 [currency unit]! Couldn't resist! It's right opposite the Kumamoto Sakuramachi bus terminal, literally a stone's throw away. There's a shopping street, a Gyomu Supermarket, and a tram station nearby. As always, they have 24-hour coffee, tea, and ice cream, along with hot springs, laundry, and late-night ramen... My friends who know Dormy Inn will understand! I wanted to do two consecutive cycles of washing and drying, so I put in 200 yen. The next day, a Japanese guest saw me and told me I had to wait for the first cycle to finish before putting in more coins. I reported this to the front desk, and without a word, they refunded the 200 yen I overpaid. ❤️ Love it! Staying for two nights was an absolute steal."
