1WanderAwayThis place was a bit expensive for Marseille imo and paying to hold luggage was definitelya first for me. The staff was friendly, though. There is an itty bitty cafe downstairs but when thr room fill up, it'sa pain to order anything. I was in a room with a leaking sink drain pipe and water got everywhere. B'c there are no towels, I had to dry it up with my own personal towel and then buy a new one for myself. So. I then needed to go to a laundromat which there is ine conveniently around the corner. Pricey. Location of the hostel is pretty close to all transport so it was easy to find. The city is beautiful so I'll come back again.

Guest UserWe stayed in Sofitel Marseille for 3 nights in the summer of 2023.
The hotel is located right on the periphery of the old port of Marseille where all the shops and restaurants are located. It takes about a 15-minute walk to get from the hotel all the way to the centre of the old port so the hotel is fairly insulated from the hustle and bustle of the old port. The exterior of the hotel looks a bit dated but the interiors feel very fresh, clean and bright.
We upgraded our room to a deluxe room facing the old port at the reception and we thought it was worth it. We never tired of waking up to a view of the old port with a clear blue sky. The room itself was quite clean and spacious. There was enough room to open up two luggages and still move around comfortably. There is also a turn down service where the staff will put out the bedroom slippers and play some nice Jazz music when you come back.
The bed was nice and comfortable and the pillows were fluffy. The only complaint we had was that the air conditioning would turn off in the middle of the night. The air conditioning control did not seem to work and it seems like the air conditioning is centrally controlled so the in-room controls did nothing. I could not sleep the first night as it was too warm and stuffy so we asked for a ventilateur (fan) the next day. That helped us to sleep better. Obviously, if you are planning to stay during the winter months then the heat at night should not be an issue.
The staff at the reception were always pleasant, warm, friendly and polite. We were upsold the room with a view when we checked in so that should say something about how friendly the staff were. It was EUR70 per night for the room with a view and it included overnight parking (EUR27 per night) so it was really only about EUR50 extra per night. The valet and the concierge were all very helpful and nice and they all speak English well enough.
If you intend to park here, do note that the roads within the hotel property can be quite narrow and the parking lots are quite narrow as well. It may be worthwhile getting the valet to help you park your car at least for the first day because driving from the car rental agencies at the Marseille train station to the hotel was stressful enough for us.
We paid around EUR300 - 350 a night but we thought it was worth it and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience.

I chose this hotel because it is close to the train station and convenient to take the airport line the next day. The location is very good, just a few steps from the subway station, two stops to the old port. Most of the attractions in Marseille are around the old port.
There are not many hotel rooms, the room is not big or small, if you open two large boxes, there is a little restriction on walking.
The room rate is early, there are not many breakfast options, there is a courtyard where you can eat breakfast, you can have a cup of coffee in the courtyard.

Much better than expected! The early flight arrived at 9 o'clock, and the room was ready! Victoria, the front desk lady, was very enthusiastic and spoke good English. She answered all kinds of questions carefully, including various matters about chartering a car to Nice. But the hotel's charter and taxi reservation are a bit expensive (50%+ premium vs. market, I chartered a car for 400 yuan, the hotel quoted 600 yuan; Uber 15 to the train station, the hotel charged 25 yuan...) This may be the only point that is not so ok, but this is an additional service outside of accommodation, so it is not included in this rating.
The room facilities are very new, and the inner courtyard is very quiet, I like it very much.

Second stay at this hotel. Convenient for when traveling to / from the cruise port or airport. The hotel itself is very nice, small but great character and good facilities. We had a double floor mezzanine family room. Great room with comfy beds, clean, good amenities and nice bathroom, fridge, coffee machine etc so everything you need. There are two big downsides to this hotel that are out of their control. The old big French doors / windows look great but are not good at all for sound. We were on the 5th floor and heard cars, sirens, mopeds and people until the early hours and this does impact sleep. The second thing is the area, not a pleasant place at night. Lots of
Homeless, rough sleepers and not a welcoming place. For us, simply going there to sleep and be comfortable and have a nice room it was good and we’d stay again, but it is expensive when you consider the area and noise at night vs some other better located hotels in Marseille

1. On June 17th, I had a 'Still in' sign on my door during the day. Although I went out for lunch, I didn't remove the sign as I didn't want anyone entering my room. However, when I returned in the afternoon, I found that the room card I had left in the power slot was gone, stolen! I immediately went downstairs to report to the front desk that my room card had been stolen from the slot inside my room. The front desk had no idea who had entered my room, meaning the person who stole the card could re-enter my room at any time. There was absolutely no security during my stay. The front desk staff were completely unhelpful and showed a passive attitude.
2. On June 18th, around 9 PM, I was taking the elevator downstairs when it broke down and wouldn't open. I was trapped inside, continuously pressing the emergency button. It took several minutes for someone to respond, but still no one came to help me get out. The elevator was a sealed space with no air circulation, which was very uncomfortable. In the end, I had to use all my strength to pry open the door myself to escape. I immediately went downstairs to complain to the front desk. There were two staff members on duty at the time; one sat there as if nothing had happened, while the other had a terrible attitude, stating that he had called maintenance and that the broken elevator was not his problem. I asked, 'Shouldn't you have helped me get out first? If maintenance never arrived, would I have been stuck in an airless elevator?' This hotel clearly has no SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for elevator breakdowns, simply abandoning guests trapped inside. When I complained after freeing myself, instead of apologizing and comforting me, the duty staff member argued with me, saying he was only responsible for calling maintenance and nothing else. He even dared me to complain to hotel management, saying he didn't care. There was absolutely no service quality.
3. From the theft of my room card from inside my room to being trapped in a broken elevator with no assistance, this hotel offers absolutely no security and terrible service quality.

The location is very convenient. The hotel has access control, which is relatively safe. Free luggage storage. There are not many simple cafes around. Breakfast was added, which was very amazing. The staff are very polite

The biggest advantage is that the train station is very close. The train station is on a high ground. It is very difficult to pull boxes in the city, such as the old port. It is recommended that the subway taxi is closer. The whole Marseille has various heights and lows. ibis is mainly soundproofed. The sound of other neighbors closing the door is not loud outside the window. Breakfast is really good at this price hotel.
