Harbin Taiping International Airport (HRB) Overview

The Harbin Taiping International Airport is in the Daoli District. It is 37 kilometres away from the centre of Harbin in a south-west direction. This airport is a major hub in northeast China and is known as a 4E-class aviation hub. 

There are more than 20 airlines fly from the Harbin Airport every day. These airlines include Chinese airlines and international airlines that connect to Russia, North-east Asia and South-east Asia.

Some of the Chinese airlines are China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Sichuan Airlines and Air China.

Harbin Airport Terminal Layout

Harbin Taiping International Airport is a place that has been getting bigger and better over time. It now has two passenger terminals - T1 and T2.

Terminal 1 (T1)

The old terminal is for all the flights and the regional flights. This terminal takes care of flights to Russia, South Korea, Japan and South-east Asia. It also has some seasonal flights.

Terminal 2 (T2)

The new terminal opened on 30 April 2018. It is much bigger and handles all domestic flights. T2 also has design elements inspired by Harbins ice and snow culture.

Harbin Taiping International Airport has lots of things to help people who are travelling.

Wi-Fi & Charging Facilities

Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi is accessible across both terminals, lounges and waiting areas. To connect, simply select the network and follow the pop-up instructions for quick verification via passport or mobile phone number.

Charging points are widely distributed throughout both terminals. You will find power sockets and USB charging ports at most seating areas, near departure gates and in food court zones. 

For travellers who need a quick top-up, portable power bank rental services are also available at kiosks in T1 and T2 arrival halls.

Currency Exchange & Banking

Currency exchange counters and international ATMs are distributed on the ground floor and departure floors of both terminals. Most ATMs accept Visa and Mastercard issued by Singaporean banks. 

Note that Alipay and WeChat Pay are the dominant payment methods in China — it is recommended to set these up before your trip.

Luggage Services

• Luggage Storage: Available in T2 near the ground transportation entrance. 
• Luggage Wrapping: Service counters on departure floors offer protective wrapping for fragile items.
• Lost & Found: Located in the baggage claim area of T2. You will need to provide your flight number, travel date and a detailed description of lost items for assistance.
• Baggage Carts: Free luggage trolleys are available throughout the airport, both landside and airside. You will find them near entrances, check-in counters and baggage claim areas.

Health & Family Facilities

• Medical Centre: A fully equipped medical room in T2 provides first aid and basic medical treatment for minor injuries or discomfort. 
• Baby Care Rooms: Baby care rooms with changing tables, nursing chairs and hot water supplies are available in both terminals. 
• Accessibility Facilities: The airport provides wheelchair assistance, accessible restrooms and priority boarding for passengers with reduced mobility. 

Dining at Harbin Airport

Harbin is famous for its unique Northeastern Chinese cuisine with Russian influences, and the airport's dining outlets showcase local food alongside familiar international brands.

Local Harbin & Northeastern Cuisine

Authentic Guo Bao Rou (锅包肉 — sweet and sour crispy pork), Harbin Red Sausage (红肠), Di San Xian (地三鲜 — potato, aubergine and green pepper stir-fry) and various dumpling specialties are served at food courts in T2.

Don't leave without trying: Harbin red sausage is a local specialty with Russian origins — smoky, garlicky and absolutely delicious. You can buy vacuum-packed versions at the airport to take home as souvenirs.

International & Quick Bites

Global chain restaurants including Starbucks, KFC, McDonald's and Pacific Coffee operate across T2. Convenience stores such as 7-Eleven and FamilyMart are on every floor, selling packaged snacks, drinks and ready-to-eat meals for quick bites.

Soft seating with USB charging ports is distributed throughout all waiting halls. Paid massage chairs in T2 allow you to relax tired muscles after a long flight.

Overnight Layover Tips

Harbin Airport is open all the time, so you do not have to worry about it closing. You can stay inside Harbin Airport if you have a wait for your next flight. The quiet areas near the gates at T2 are really nice at night because they are not crowded. These areas have seats and they are warm, which is great when you have to wait for a long time at Harbin Airport.

Duty-Free Shops

These shops are for people who are leaving Singapore. They sell things like makeup, fragrances, liquor, cigarettes and products from famous international brands. The prices for some skincare and perfume brands are good compared to stores. They have a lot of cosmetics and nice stuff.

Local Souvenirs

There are shops in both terminals that sell things that're special to Harbin. You can find vacuum packed Harbin sausage and Russian style chocolates. They also have handicrafts. Siberian tiger themed souvenirs and ice sculpture inspired gifts. These Harbin things are great to bring to your family and friends in Singapore.

Winter essential: If you are visiting Harbin during the ice season, you should pick up hand warmers and thermal insoles at the airport convenience stores. They are cheaper than the ones you find in the city centre tourist shops in Harbin.
