4-Star Hotels in Sichuan, China

On our first night, we were given a street-facing room, and the noise from passing traffic disturbed us in the mornings. After a quick chat with the front desk, the staff immediately and graciously moved us to a larger, quieter room at no extra charge. Their problem-solving efficiency was excellent, and their attitude was incredibly gentle. We also received complimentary breakfast during our stay, which offered a wide variety of delicious options. The location is very convenient. It's a short taxi ride to Baoguo Temple, Fuhu Temple, and the Maluqiao Food Street, making it easy to get around with kids. The overall ambiance is a quiet, comfortable, and clean new-Chinese Zen-style courtyard. When traveling, such genuine and thoughtful service is a rare find. They didn't pass the buck when problems arose and made every effort to help guests. If I ever return to the foot of Mount Emei, I wouldn't hesitate to choose this place again. I genuinely recommend it to families traveling with children.

The hotel itself is quite good. The location is excellent, right by Jinjiang Park, near Jiuyan Bridge, and Anshun Bridge is practically on its doorstep. It's also very close to the bar street, Lan Kwai Fong, and Taikoo Li. The overall service was good, and the rooms were decent. Most rooms have a small balcony with a view, and the facilities inside were complete, clean, and well-maintained. Although the breakfast was simple, it was balanced and offered enough variety. There were mainly two downsides. Firstly, it's very close to the bars, which made it quite noisy. The noise from Jiuyan Bridge quieted down around midnight, but Lan Kwai Fong downstairs kept going until three or four in the morning without stopping. Plus, being close to Taikoo Li meant luxury cars often sped by with roaring engines late at night. Aside from these objective factors, it seems the room's soundproofing wasn't ideal, making it hard to get a good night's sleep. Secondly, during the National Day holiday, the balcony door in our room was left open by the cleaning staff after they tidied up. This let in a lot of mosquitoes, especially since the temperature in Chengdu isn't low at this time of year, which affected the quality of our rest.

We stayed in Meishan for a week for a sporting event. The hotel has clearly seen better days—especially compared to many newer properties in the area (aging lifts, worn carpets, etc.). We chose it mainly for three reasons: breakfast, gym/pool, and laundry facilities. 1. Breakfast The daily buffet was solid and met expectations. It featured a typical Chinese spread: hot stir-fried dishes, vegetables, meats, buns, dumplings, fried rice/noodles, porridge, plus a live station for dan dan noodles, eggs, and simple meats like sausage or ham. There was also a rotating Chinese dessert (e.g., red date with longan, green bean soup), along with some Western options like salad greens, yogurt, bread, cake, and fresh fruit. Since we stayed a full week, we appreciated the small variations. That said, we were surprised by the limited fruit selection—mainly oranges and watermelon—especially given the abundance of fresh fruit available locally. Breakfast vouchers are issued daily and must be presented before dining. 2. Gym & Pool This was the biggest disappointment. Both the gym and pool were completely closed, and the entire floor was gutted with no visible renovation activity. It looks like these facilities have been—and will be—out of service for quite some time. This was a major letdown, as it was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. 3. Laundry There is only one washer and one dryer for the entire building. We were concerned about availability, but only had to wait once. The 15-minute wash cycle helps with turnover. However, the dryer takes a long time and unfortunately shrunk all my cotton clothing. I’d recommend partially drying cotton items and then air-drying them in your room. Package Perks We booked through Trip.com, which included a small daily package: a plate with two oranges and some snacks, complimentary coffee or tea in the lobby, and a free transfer to the high-speed rail station (must be booked at the front desk one day in advance). There were also canned sodas included, which we didn’t use. Room & Noise We were initially assigned a room facing the plaza, which was very noisy. After requesting a change, we were first told the hotel was sold out—but after some persistence, a park-facing room was “found.” This room was significantly better: quiet, bright, and pleasant, with birdsong in the morning. We were told these were actually an upgrade, and that road-facing rooms are even worse due to constant traffic noise. 4. Smart Room Features (“Xiao Du”) We did enjoy the smart room system—“Xiao Du,” which works similarly to Alexa. It can control the curtains, TV, room temperature, and lighting, which is a nice modern touch. However, it was also a bit frustrating at times—for example, it would automatically turn off the lights in the bathroom sink area. The lighting there is already quite dim and not ideal for doing makeup. It would be helpful if the hotel could improve lighting around the mirror (brighter bulbs would make a big difference), or even better, install a mirror by the writing desk near the window where there is natural light. Smoking Smoking is allowed in the hotel, and we did notice it in the lobby, elevators, and corridors. Thankfully, our room itself was fine. Housekeeping turns off the AC and opens windows when cleaning, which seems to help ventilate lingering smoke. Location & Surroundings The hotel is in a convenient area. A nearby park is lovely, with traditional structures and inscriptions related to the Su family. Within a short walk is a lively commercial plaza with restaurants, bubble tea shops, salons (I tried a newly opened nail salon), and more. Getting around via Didi is easy. Overall For the price, the hotel offers decent value. However, the closed fitness facilities were a major downside. If we return, we’d likely try a newer hotel—but this one works if you prioritize cost and location over amenities.

The hotel facilities are complete, with a gym and laundry room. The hotel also has its own restaurant, which is convenient for dining, and in-house guests even get a 20% discount. Our rooms were upgraded, the service was good, and check-in was quick. They also added us on WeChat in advance to send us the location, so we weren't worried about finding the hotel. Overall, we're satisfied and would still recommend it.

Objectively speaking, the front desk service was excellent, and the hotel lobby and courtyard environment were also very good! However, there was a strange smell in the hallway, and an indescribable odor in the room itself. When I got into bed after washing up at night, the duvet and sheets felt damp and uncomfortable. There was also a persistent smell of urine, which wasn't coming directly from the duvet or sheets, but it lingered throughout the night. I tossed and turned and couldn't sleep well. In the morning, I woke up with many red bumps on my arms and legs. I've booked so many hotels on Ctrip, mostly prioritizing a good environment, and this is the only one that has given me such a bad experience. It's the only hotel that has made me feel this uncomfortable. I originally planned to give feedback to the front desk when checking out, but there was a family of foreign tourists complaining, so I just left without saying much. Anyway, the service itself was commendable!

My stay here far exceeded my expectations. The hotel's overall environment is quiet and elegant, with clean and fresh common areas and a simple yet grand decor that creates a wonderful atmosphere. The room facilities are very new, the bedding is soft and comfortable, the bathroom fixtures work smoothly with stable water pressure, and the room has good lighting and ventilation. The cleanliness is excellent, with no dust in the corners. The amenities are comprehensive and very convenient for daily use. The staff are gentle, polite, and responsive. The location is convenient for getting around, and the surrounding area is not noisy. Overall, the value for money is excellent. It's suitable for both short trips and quick business travel, making for a comfortable and relaxing stay. I had no regrets, and I'll definitely prioritize this hotel next time I visit. I highly recommend it!

After descending from Mount Siguniang and arriving in Chengdu, I spent a long time choosing a hotel. After much deliberation, I decided to end my Chengdu trip on a high note, and the entire stay far exceeded my expectations! The hotel's location is truly impeccable, situated in the heart of Jinjiang District. Within a few minutes' walk, you can reach Chunxi Road and Taikoo Li commercial area, making shopping, sightseeing, and finding Chengdu's local delicacies incredibly convenient. It's also not far from the subway station, offering easy access to popular attractions like Tianfu Square, Kuanzhai Alley, and People's Park. The front desk staff were warm, professional, and efficient during check-in. They patiently explained the hotel facilities and breakfast times, actively recommended local authentic cuisine, and even provided handwritten Chengdu guides. Their attentiveness was exceptional, and there were even welcome gifts, showing polite and thoughtful high-quality service in every detail. The guest rooms are spacious, and overall, it was the cleanest hotel I stayed in on this trip. The floors, tabletops, and bathroom corners were all spotless, without any dust or strange odors. The bedding was soft and fluffy, and the mattress had just the right firmness, allowing me to quickly relax after a long day. The wet and dry separation in the bathroom is a given, with the shower and toilet placed separately. The most pleasant surprise was the soundproofing; despite being in a bustling area with a food street downstairs, closing the door completely blocked out the outside noise, making it quiet and comfortable. The room was well-equipped, with high-quality toiletries and a diverse selection of beverages. The floor I stayed on also offered a nice city view. The hotel boasts rich facilities, including a 24-hour gym, perfect for a quick workout after sightseeing. The self-service 24-hour laundry room with a drying function is a lifesaver – after providing your room number, your washed and dried clothes can be delivered to your room, so you don't have to set an alarm to pick them up. This is incredibly practical for long-term travelers, offering a one-stop solution for laundry. There's also a late-night snack service for guests, and breakfast starts quite early, featuring a rich variety of Chinese and Western options, with a particularly delicious chocolate bread. In the prime location of Chunxi Road, where every inch of land is precious, having such a high-value-for-money stay is truly rare. This hotel significantly enhanced my trip, and I will definitely prioritize staying here again on my next visit to Chengdu!

The room was clean and tidy, with a pleasant fragrance. The breakfast offered a rich variety of options. It's conveniently located close to Kuanzhai Alley, making it easy to get around. The front desk lady was beautiful and had an excellent service attitude. When we left, she even gave us cute panda headbands and bottled water, which made the whole experience fantastic.

This trip with friends to the Echeng Hotel was a really satisfying experience overall. The front desk service was excellent; check-in and check-out were both quick. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic, patiently assisting with any questions we had. We stayed in a twin room, and both single beds were spacious and comfortable. The mattress had just the right firmness, ensuring a great night's sleep. The hotel's location is superb, making it easy to get around. Restaurants, shops, and attractions are all easily accessible nearby. Room hygiene was top-notch, and the cleaning staff were very polite, diligently tidying the room every day. The hotel also offers a free laundry service, with plenty of washing machines and dryers, so there's rarely a need to wait – very convenient for travelers. Additionally, the hotel provides a parcel receiving service, and the front desk even thoughtfully offers tea. Overall, the service, environment, facilities, and convenience were all very satisfying. I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next trip and would recommend it to friends!

On a spontaneous trip, I unexpectedly discovered this hidden gem of a guesthouse. The location is superb, just a three-minute walk to Huangwan Tourist Center. The room was spacious and bright, and the bedding was incredibly comfortable. For someone who frequently travels for business, the comfort of the bedding is immediately noticeable. Good bedding leads to good rest, which is essential for enjoying the next day's adventures. The breakfast selection was rich, and although it was a set menu, the variety was thoughtfully put together. Some guests mentioned the portions were so generous they couldn't finish it all, and I even took some eggs and yogurt to eat on the go. The soy milk at breakfast was absolutely amazing! The owner said it's freshly ground every morning, which explains its delicate and silky smooth texture. With all these fantastic qualities, the handsome owner offering complimentary pickup and drop-off at the high-speed rail station almost feels like an afterthought, hahaha! Businesses that are thoughtful and high-quality truly deserve recognition! Oh, and before I left, I also bought their 'Piao Xue' jasmine tea – it tastes great and isn't expensive, perfect for both gifts and personal enjoyment!
