I stayed for 3 nights at the Wasabi Hostel Nagoya.
I took the Nohi Bus from Takayama, which took about 2 hours and 30 minutes to reach its final destination, the Meitetsu Nagoya Bus Terminal. The fare was 3600 yen. Using Google Maps, it was about a 700-meter, 10-minute walk to the hostel. Actually, getting off at JR Station would have been closer, but I wanted to check the Meitetsu train schedules to Atsuta Jingu and Chubu Centrair International Airport, as well as the Meitetsu bus to Matsumoto. Being my first time in Nagoya, the different lines and companies were quite confusing and disorienting.
_The hostel is located near a transportation hub, surrounded by various shopping malls, restaurants, convenience stores, and supermarkets, making daily life very convenient. It's also relatively easy to get to attractions like Osu Kannon, Oasis 21, and Nagoya Castle by subway.
I stayed in a female-only dormitory on the fifth floor, which had about 30 beds. The beds were spacious, and the bedding was soft and comfortable. Each bed had a safe with Chinese instructions, as well as an outlet, a bedside lamp, and a small TV. Due to the overall space constraints of the hostel, the aisles between the beds were very cramped. There was a small luggage room. On the fifth floor, there were 3 shower rooms and 2 toilets, providing facial cleanser, shower gel, shampoo, and body lotion. There was a self-service coin-operated washing machine for 200 yen per wash and a dryer for 100 yen for 30 minutes. Toothbrushes, toothpaste, bath towels, and slippers all had to be purchased separately. There was a common lounge area on the first floor where everyone's shoes had to be placed in shoe lockers. The first floor also had a refrigerator, microwave, and oven, and complimentary miso soup and tea were provided. The staff were gentle and friendly, providing thoughtful and enthusiastic service; despite me not knowing English or Japanese, they patiently explained everything to me.
What confused me was that having traveled to Japan multiple times and stayed in many hostels, guesthouses, or hotels, this was the only place where the shower water pressure was low. I don't know if it was only on the fifth floor during peak water usage hours at night, but for me, this was the biggest drawback.
Overall, if you're traveling solo in Nagoya and looking for an affordable and convenient place to stay, this hostel offers good value for money.
This hotel is a solid option for travelers looking for a clean, comfortable stay near Nagoya Station at a reasonable price. The room is small but well-equipped with essentials like slippers, pyjamas, a hairdryer, and a water boiler. While bottled water isn’t provided, it’s convenient to purchase from the nearby Seven Eleven or Aeon store.
One of the best aspects is the peaceful environment. Unlike some modern hotels with thin walls, this one has good soundproofing, and the sliding door adds extra noise isolation. The air conditioning is individually controlled, making it easy to adjust the temperature precisely.
The hotel itself looks quite new and is kept very clean. I had a comfortable stay. The staff were friendly and professional, with one gentleman at the front desk standing out for his attentive service and clear explanations of the facilities.
Location-wise, it’s about an 8-minute walk from Nagoya Station, though there is no covered walkway. The neighborhood feels safe, and there are plenty of dining options at the station. Some guests mentioned concerns about the curtain, but I found it adequate for blocking sunlight.
Would recommend for short stays in Nagoya!

Japan's 9h capsule hotels are quite renowned, so I made sure to try one out this trip. My overall impression was excellent. The other guests were very considerate, and the hotel itself was spotlessly clean. The lockers were surprisingly spacious, and there were plenty of large, well-maintained shower facilities. Plus, the location was incredibly convenient.
This hotel is located right in front of Obu Station, about a 15-minute train ride from Nagoya. Even though it was a weekend, it cost under 10,000 yen and included breakfast, making it a great value. Hotels in Nagoya city seem to be quite expensive on weekends lately, but this hotel offers reasonable rates not far from Nagoya.
For breakfast, they offer side dishes made by local delis, and, as you'd expect in Aichi Prefecture, they even have kishimen noodles. The fact that this is free is fantastic.
Although I didn't go out during my stay, be aware that you need to leave your key at the front desk if you plan to leave the premises. Also, there's only one elevator, so you might have to wait, but the emergency staircase seemed to be open during the morning hours.

I was hesitant after reading the reviews, but since it was the end of the year and prices were high everywhere, this was the cheapest option, so I decided to stay here for one night.
Amenities: Toothbrush, cup, razor, comb, shampoo, conditioner, body soap. No basic skincare, so bring your own if you need it.
Room: The wallpaper had been repainted, the air conditioning worked well, and the room had a bathtub, shower, and toilet, which was nice. However, the toilet didn't have a washlet, so the seat was very cold. I purchased a disposable toilet seat mat at Seria near Kanayama Station. The room's slippers were cloth, and although I'm not particularly picky, I couldn't wear them, so I purchased disposable slippers at Seria and used them instead. The furniture was old, but I didn't use them, so it didn't bother me. The hair dryer had a strong airflow and the shower had good pressure, so I was satisfied. There was some noise from doors opening and closing on the same floor, but it wasn't particularly bothersome. The view was nice. Kanayama Station or Higashi Betsuin Station are the closest, but it was less than a 10-minute walk from Kanayama Station. There was a Family Mart and a 7-Eleven along the way. The beds were clean, which was nice.
There was a water heater like a Tefal. You'll need to buy water.
The hotel room is general and the Wifi is weak, but there was beef bowl and curry in the breakfast buffet, and it was very good for the people who wanted to eat guts from the morning. The quality was also high.

Fantastic location within walking distance of a well connected metro stop. Nagoya castle and Nagoya station also within walking distance. The unlimited soft drinks on the 11th floor is a really nice touch with great variety. Great amenities. I’ve stayed in capsule hotels in Berlin, Prague and Hong Kong before but this one in Nagoya is S tier. Highly recommend.
The hotel is located right at the entrance of the station, which is very convenient. The service staff is very friendly. Although the room is small, it is very clean! The breakfast menu changes every day. This is a very attentive hotel!
The bathhouse is a bit small, which is a pity~

GGuest UserThe room was small like an old business hotel, and I was worried about the smell of cigarettes, but the location is about 20 minutes by subway from the center of Nagoya, and it is very close to the station. Convenience stores were nearby and convenient, so I thought it was good to stay on business trips.
RrickathkThis hotel is located near the exchange road. There is free parking. There are plenty of parking spaces and there are free breakfast. There are many choices for breakfast. There are also many restaurants next to it. It is a good travel experience.
RRomanIt’s a nice guesthouse divided between two building. There are many amenities, in the check-in building there is a nice cafe with coffee and food. It is close to subway and several nice cocktail bars. The only drawback was insects in the capsules that bit me :( should be desinfected.
GGuest UserThe hotel's location is great, right across from JR Nagoya Station, and there are tons of food options nearby. The downsides are that the room is small, the bed is 1.2m, and the soundproofing isn't great. There's an all-you-can-eat BBQ place for 5500 yen per person, a chain unagi (eel) restaurant for 4500 yen, and a Ton-yama ramen shop for 1000 yen. I highly recommend all three – you won't be disappointed! Finally, a word about dynamic pricing (or 'big data price gouging' as I see it): I checked the hotel price a day before and it was over 400, but then I saw it for just over 300 at 3:50 PM on the day itself. That's a 100 difference – what a rip-off! 😭😭

GGuest UserThe hotel is located in the largest shopping district in Nagoya, Sakae, with convenient shopping and transportation. The room is indeed small, but the price is high.
AAveskkHotel is very close to Railway/ Subway tracks , u can hear the cargo trains going all day all night . No way u can open the balcony window and sleep. Room is good with every inch put to use as Japanese style. Near by Subway is convenient for traveling.
Hotel staff did not keep our luggage after we checked out and we had to travel to Nagoya Palace carrying out luggage bags . Usually hotels allow you to leave your luggage for few hours after u checked out. That caused us to leave the city as soon as we could.
