"Everything about Three Tree Hill is amazing. Melanie was super helpful when we made our reservation and any questions that came between then and our stay were all answered. On arrival we were greeted and had a lovely welcome drink. We arrived rather late as our flight had been delayed. We were shown to our room which was spacious and perfect for our 4 night stay. We didn't realise there was a nature reserve next door so we were very happy to see the game and chubby unicorns. The food was incredible, they love to feed. Everyday we were spoilt with delicious home made dishes, cakes and utter goodness. We did a couple of battlefield tours which were excellent. Rueben is a credit to the team and we loved hanging out with him on Spionkop. We had the pleasure of Simon & Reuben for our trip to Ladysmith. We loved the museum and seeing the different sites. We also enjoyed our walks on the property as well as the sundowners. It was a safari experience without the safari! Thank you so much for looking after us so well. We will never forgot it and we will always recommend you."

"The Drakensberg is truly one of the wonders of the world. The Lodge is well kept and pristine. There was some work being undertaken during our stay and seems they are expanding. During this time, we did not notice any construction noise before 8am and after 5pm. The are enough facilities on the lodge to keep you busy on the site. The Lodge is also well located in the area to explore other sites around the area. The Lodge has parking available - it is allocated per unit. The check in was quick and easy. Take extra few bags of wood with you if you like to light fires. They sell it at the reception. There is parking at your Unit - right outside. We had a self catering unit. The appliances were all new and modern. There was everything we needed. The rooms were all en-suite - well partitioned off - so each family member could retire to their room and get away and relax if they wanted to The cleaning service was fantastic and professional. The towels were great size. The Jacuzzi was an added bonus and great for relaxing after a day of hiking or tourism. Stop off at the Thokozani Tourism Info Centre and ask for advice on planning your trip around the area. They are such lovely people offering great insights and advice about routes. The journey between sites can be quite long. The SPA: Outstanding! There is an onsite spa. The team is fantastic and they have such a wonderful spirit of making you feel relaxed. Book in advance if you doing more than one massage. The service is professional and the massages were great. There is only one steam room so you share with your friends or family."

"This review is relatively objective being my 20th road trip, this year staying at 17 properties over a 43 night period. I have previously stayed at some of the other luxury Drakensberg lodges/hotels. Easily found. Friendly, professional and efficient staff throughout, especially one of the female ‘hands on’ family owners. Spacious, clean, well equipped and comfortable dual aspect chalet with a pleasant sitting out area overlooking the well maintained grounds. The comfortable public areas were spacious and well equipped, but to my taste lacked a little old world/school charm - but that’s a very personal opinion/preference. Excellent food, well cooked, presented and served. I hiked up to the look out point on nearby Montusi peak via the Bushman’s art cave. Somewhat challenging in places and especially so with the gale blowing on the summit. Of note is that hikers have an in/out register for their movements. Other, longer staying guests, had guides and hikes arranged in the surrounding mountains by the very helpful staff - see my earlier comments. The property is on some up market agent’s touring itineraries, but the small groups I encountered reflected the quality of the agents. It all comes at a price, but provides value for money. Recommended"

"An excellent overnight stop or even a short stay. Nothing to difficult for owners. We were booked to stay on a Saturday night in July. We realized enroute that we would arrive around 10am and decided to phone and find out if we could postpone our booking till 23 Aug. Absolutely no prob, it was done. Then we left Kruger 3 days early so phoned them again to find out if we could change booking to 21 Aug. No problem. Thanks to them there are not many Guest Homes that would be so accommodating. Well done. Food also delicious. Ample safe parking even if you towing a caravan."
