"Unfortunately, this hotel was extremely disappointing for the price. The property feels very run down and poorly maintained, making it hard to justify the expensive rate. While the staff were genuinely fantastic, friendly, and helpful throughout the stay, the condition of the hotel itself really let the experience down. The bathrooms were not properly stocked in there was no hand soap provided, and the conditioner bottles appeared to be watered down. The entire place had a strong musty smell, which made it feel unclean and outdated. On top of that, the shower pressure was incredibly weak, making even basic comfort an issue. Overall, the service from the staff was the only real highlight. For the price being charged, the hotel seriously needs upgrades and better attention to cleanliness and amenities."

The hotel breakfast is very average, and the single restaurant set meal is about a few dozen dollars in the evening, and the taste is OK"

Bubu, Wati, and Mosese are simply the best and the owners ~ Tarei and Rod of course. I stayed here two weeks end of July 2024. I love the lush tropical garden, the rambling colonial house with hardwood floors. I could pick my own lemon grass for tea in the morning."

"Booked one night here after I realised I needed an extra night in Suva with little notice. Checking in and out was great. They had plenty of rooms and did not require a deposit or any guarantee I would actually turn up for my booking when I reserved a room the night before. The bed was comfortable and the room was very average but clean enough, though the whole place is ancient and poorly maintained. Wifi is pretty non existent above the third floor and very average elsewhere unless you go down to the lobby. There is no real security here. Anyone can walk in and out of any floor without being questioned. After midnight a drunk came in and started banging on a door on the third floor looking for someone who apparently wasn’t even staying there anymore. Staff were lovely. Location was great. Room was affordable. If you just need a place to crash and feel confident about travelling alone or are with friends it’s fine."

"Booked online for 334 per night, then extended for another night, paid in cash, added 20 yuan, changed room for a total of 120 Fijian dollars. The room on the first night was on the first floor, and there was a lot of mosquito spray in the room, the smell was pungent, the next day we moved to the second floor, the door was broken, and there was a bad smell of biogas in the room. The room is a bit far from the city, about 30 minutes walk."

"Overall, the room was nice; everything was provided (shampoo, shower gel, conditioner). Tea and coffee were provided in a bag. The room also had an iron and a kettle. We were greeted with complimentary water. There's a water cooler on the floor. It took us about 20-25 minutes to walk from the bus station. One of the drawbacks: instead of a room key, you have to install a special app. The reception will connect it to the hotel, and you can open the door to your room or the pool with your phone. One downside: our room has a door (locked) to the adjoining room. Because of this, you can hear everything that's going on in your neighbors' rooms (our neighbor was on a call with someone at 3:50 AM)."

"One pillow was dirty, but it was replaced in the morning. The bedsheet had a stain, and the bathroom was also partially unclean. Many bugs crawled around the fridge when it was dark. The staff were super nice. The top corner room, No. 400, had a great view. Unfortunately, both chairs and the table were covered in bird droppings. Value for money was just about acceptable. There was no room service for the three days: the trash bin was full."

"The overall stay at Yue Lai Hotel exceeded my expectations. The room was clean and tidy, the environment well-maintained, and the facilities complete and functional. I was also able to ask the manager for help booking a day trip to the outer islands, which was great for someone who doesn't speak English abroad. The front desk was very efficient with check-in and check-out, and the staff were incredibly warm and polite. The location is convenient for getting around, with a large supermarket right next door. The soundproofing was good, ensuring a peaceful rest. It's excellent value for money, suitable for both business and leisure travelers. I will definitely choose to stay here again next time. Highly recommended!"

"Love the environment here, quiet and peaceful. They serve a good grill steak, however, wish they could cook extra stuff like fries or add salads or soup to the menu. They are very flexible and can help you prepare a salad or fruits if you buy. Breakfast is simple but if you want cooked breakfast it’s additional FJD 30. One thing I didn’t like is no proper blanket or comforter. Only thin sheets."
