Guest UserI booked a 1 bedroom suite but the main living room doesn’t have an air conditioner so it was pretty stuffy. There was a portable air conditioner in the bedroom which was very noisy. Room is clean but dated. The location is fantastic and service from the staff very good. The hotel is in an amazing location right by the water, 5 min walk to parliament, empress hotel and water. The bus stop to the ferry is also 5 min walk so super convenient. There is a great green restaurant next to the hotel which I highly recommend for lunch or dinner.

Guest UserThe name of the hotel is very misleading , there is only a spa but it is not considered as a resort because there are no other facilities. The hotel does not have a restaurant ( there is a restaurant but it does not belong to the hotel and is not open for breakfast ) and they do not provide breakfast. There is a coffee place on the lobby level but they do not provide full breakfast. Rooms are spacious and very clean but do not understand why there is a coffee maker and no electric kettle .

5-Star Review for Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza Hotel, Victoria, BC
My stay at the Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza Hotel in downtown Victoria was nothing short of exceptional, especially thanks to the front desk team's kindness in upgrading me to a suite. The suite was fantastic—extremely spacious at around 400-600 sq ft, with a full kitchen including fridge, stove, microwave, and dining area, plus a cozy sitting space and pull-out sofa that made it feel like home. Cleanliness stood out, with spotless rooms, fresh linens, and well-maintained facilities throughout this heritage property renovated in 2019. The location is unbeatable, steps from Government Street, Fan Tan Alley, and the Inner Harbour, perfect for exploring Victoria's attractions on foot. Service was top-notch: friendly, accommodating staff handled everything efficiently, from check-in to daily check-ins, echoing countless glowing guest reviews. Amenities like free WiFi, fitness center, air conditioning, and 24-hour front desk added to the comfort. I can't recommend this hotel enough—it's a gem for any Victoria visit!

Quaint hotel, with a great location.
Staff greeted us as soon as we walked through the door, we were able to check in early and dump our bags and walk into the city centre which is probably 10 minutes away.
Room was very big with 2 huge comfortable beds, no tea or coffee facilities in the room but you could get some from the reception area.
We decided to eat in the pub downstairs which was lovely, it was packed and there was a game on so everyone was very happy

Love love love Hotel Zed!! We spent a lot of time in the pool and sauna. I absolutely loved bringing the board games from the lobby to our room. A very family oriented place for sure. Fresh ground coffee for the French press every morning was definitely a perk as well. It was our son's birthday and they gave us some balloons, stickers and a lovely card for him as well. Such a great vibe

ES20The location is close to the airport and pier, making it easy to catch your trip the next day
There is only one elevator in the entire hotel. It is very difficult to wait for a seat to get in and out during the morning rush hour. It is especially difficult to take the stairs when checking out with luggage.
The overall environment is good, but the elevator problem is

The room was very clean. The noise from the bar on the first floor was a little noticeable, but it didn't bother me too much. The location is also great, highly recommended.

Booked and pre-paid through Trip.com Would have given 4 stars for service but check-in clerk attempted to charge me again for the room at a higher rate then blamed another staff member for not doing their job correctly when I objected to the charge and showed my confirmation. When I said I would park my vehicle elsewhere rather than pay for parking she said my vehicle would be towed if it was parked at the hotel. She was rude and abrupt and had me questioning my choice to stay there. The check-out clerk however was very polite and friendly

We stayed as a couple at Sandman Hotel Victoria for four nights over the Christmas holidays. The hotel looks fresh and modern, as if recently renovated, and was very affordable for Victoria given the season. Amenities include a swimming pool, hot tub, and gym, and the gym is particularly well equipped for a hotel in this price range. Unfortunately, we never had a chance to use the pool or hot tub as they were consistently crowded, and at one point two guests appeared to have poured soapy products into the hot tub, effectively turning it into their own bubble bath, which was unpleasant, and staff did not seem to address it. Another downside was housekeeping: daily service is not provided by default and must be requested each morning, which was not explained at check-in. When we did request housekeeping, towels were replaced and the bed was made, but toiletries such as soap and toilet paper were not replenished and had to be requested separately. Overall, good value and a fresh property, but housekeeping practices and monitoring of shared amenities could be improved.

The room is OK, but it is relatively simple, there is no hot water bottle, there is the simplest coffee machine, it is surprising that even bottled water is not provided. The Indian brother at the front desk was very slow to check in. After asking for various messages to enter the computer, he finally gave me a form to let me fill in the information just now. This check-in efficiency was indeed the first time I met in Canada. It is the off-season, there are a lot of vacancies, and I arranged a room close to the elevator. I said if I could change it. He said that he would add money to upgrade, and he was completely speechless. In short, the feeling is very general, not recommended.
