I stayed in Quanzhou for two consecutive days, and my overall experience was fantastic. Everything was perfect, and I highly recommend it!
First, the location is absolutely superb, making getting around incredibly convenient.
The hotel has a parking lot right downstairs, making parking easy and stress-free. There's also a direct elevator, so you don't have to lug your luggage around unnecessarily, which saves a lot of effort. You just drive up a slope and turn a corner, and you're at the entrance – the access is very smooth.
From B1 of the hotel, you can directly access the street. Turn right, and you'll find the Bell Tower; cross an intersection, and you're just a few steps from West Street. Right across the street is a huge area with various eateries, making it a one-stop shop for food, drink, and entertainment. My favorite Aquan Beef restaurant is right next door, and the food is so delicious that I ate there several times during my two-day stay!
The room experience was also great. The room type had one double bed and one single bed, offering spacious and comfortable living. It was equipped with a sofa, table, and chairs, making it very pleasant whether you're relaxing with tea or ordering takeout and dining in.
The biggest bonus: it's super pet-friendly! You can bring your dog without any restrictions, which is a huge relief for those traveling with pets.
The hotel also offers a complimentary Zanhua (flower hairpin) experience. A heads-up and key points for everyone:
The Zanhua spot is on West Street and uses artificial flowers, not fresh ones. However, they will style your entire head, not just provide a simple hairpin. Their operating hours end at 7 PM, and the Zanhua needs to be returned, you cannot keep it. Make sure to manage your time accordingly! Also, be sure to make an appointment in advance via WeChat or business card, as previous customers getting makeup and changing clothes can cause significant delays, and you might have to wait a very long time if you just show up.
Overall, the hotel is newly renovated and well-equipped. The only minor drawback is that the mattress is too soft. I personally like soft beds, but this one was excessively soft – you just sink right into it. After a tiring day of exploring and eating in Quanzhou, lying down for a long time made my body feel a bit sore. Other than that, there's almost nothing to fault.

Guest UserThe staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout my stay. They provided useful itinerary suggestions, and food recommendations.
As a foreign guest, the staff proactively shared their WeChat ID and it’s recommended to share yours as well, as they are cautious about scams. Communication through WeChat was smooth and very helpful. A RMB 200 deposit is required, but as a foreigner there was no issue with the transaction. They were also kind enough to help me operate the washing machine, which I really appreciated.
The room was clean and well-kept. The bed was comfortable, and I especially liked the pillow—it suited my preference well. One small thing to note is that it took a bit of time to figure out how to maintain a consistent shower temperature, as it would sometimes be too hot or too cold.
Also worth mentioning: part of my room had a low ceiling. You’ll need to be careful when standing up—I bumped my head a few times during my stay 😅.
Overall, it was a pleasant and comfortable experience with very attentive service. I would still recommend this homestay, especially for travelers who value helpful staff and local guidance.

Wanran is a charming Minsu homestay nestled in a beautifully preserved 100-year-old house, surrounded by a walkable neighborhood filled with heritage shophouses, cozy cafes, local eateries, and even a shopping mall. It’s the perfect balance of old-world charm and modern convenience.
This family-run homestay — hosted by a lovely couple and their two children — offers a genuine and welcoming experience.
The guest room is a renovated part of the old home: clean, comfortable, and equipped with all the essentials.
Beyond the nostalgic architecture, what makes this place truly special is the tea room. It’s a hidden gem filled with rare and high-quality teas sourced from various regions. Guests are warmly invited to sit, sip, and chat — not just about tea, but also about culture, stories, and everyday life.
Even as a foreigner with only basic Chinese skills, I felt completely at ease spending time in the tea room, exchanging thoughts with the host. Language wasn’t a barrier at all — tea became our shared language.
This was my first time staying in a tea house, and it left me with beautiful memories. If you're looking for something authentic, relaxing, and deeply rooted in local life and tea culture, Wanran is a must.

The hotel room was spacious and very clean, which were two positive aspects of the experience. The only drawback was that the air conditioning only had cooling and no heating, making the room quite cold at night. A special thank you to Ms. Sun at the front desk; after learning of the situation, she immediately brought a heater, and when she discovered it was malfunctioning, she promptly brought a blanket, thoughtfully solving our immediate need for warmth. Her service was superb!

ZeederworldWe had a lovely one night stay Very helpful and friendly hosts who live in the adjoining building Location is perfect. In between West Street and Quanzhou Ancient City. About 20 to 30 mins walk to each direction.
The ginger duck dinner (10 mins walk) and taro fritter right at the back street of this mishu (both recommended by the host) were one of the best food throughout our Fujian trip. We appreciated the host allowing us to freeze our food and helped us arrange a driver to send us to Xiamen the next day. It's door to door at RMB70 per pax (if sharing the cab with others). Cheaper than didi + train + didi and less time consuming.
The room size is slightly on the smaller side but we don't mind as we were out all day. All the basic amenities needed are provided. Most important is its clean and comfortable.
As I booked using non-Chinese no and can't read Chinese, I did not receive notifications from host right after my Trip.com booking . We depended on Baidu map to guess the location after the taxi dropped us at the main road. Be prepared to walk 2 mins into small/back lane and to enter an unlock gate to enter the compound of 2/3 residential building cluster. A bit confusing for us but we managed to locate the minshu after 5 mins.
We wish we had more time for Quanzhou. Definitely worth at 2 nights. So much more to explore here.

雾与光的旅程I had a pleasant stay at Shuyu Homestay during my time in Quanzhou. The location is very convenient, especially if you want to explore the old town area. Many attractions, local food spots, and small streets are within walking distance, which made it easy for me to move around and enjoy the city.
The room is clean and nice, just as shown in the photos on the listing. The photo that I shared below was taken before I checked out (not during check-in), and the room was still well maintained and tidy, which shows that the cleanliness standard here is quite good.
The service was also friendly and responsive. During my stay, I requested to upgrade to a queen-size room due to personal reasons and agreed to pay the difference in price. The staff handled my request smoothly and helped arrange the upgrade without any issues, which I really appreciated.
Overall, it was a comfortable stay with good service and a convenient location.

Firstly, I want to emphasise that the hostel staff are amazing - very friendly and helpful. They helped me sort out a problem with my phone, shared their suggestions of places to visit, and helped me upgrade my room too. So 10/10 for the staff. To give a more honest review of the room though:
Pros: The shared common room area is very spacious, and a great place to meet new friends. There are games and activities available, plus they often organised free social events like card game nights and movies. The dorm room was relatively spacious, with a desk space too. The beds have good privacy curtains. There are plug sockets by each bed for charging phones etc.
Cons: The main issue I have with the dorm rooms is that there is a dedicated bathroom per room. This seems great, until you have a roommate who spends three full hours all morning recolouringtheir hair in there, while the rest of us can't use the toilet or shower.
Other than that, I did feel that the location was a bit inconvenient (I had to drag my suitcase through some kind of dirty building site to get there, and it is about 15 mins walk from the main tourist area). Additionally, the beds were very uncomfortable (they've used foam mattesss toppers on wooden boards, with no actual mattress) and didn't have a shelf next to the bed or any storage lockers for bags. Also the hostel didn't provide towels for dorm room guests (which is usually standard).
After the issue with the roommate hogging the bathroom (who also snored all night too...) I asked to pay the difference to upgrade to a private room. The hostel happily arranged this without any issues, and even prepared the room for me to move into early. This private room was much better - a proper mattress, towels provided, etc. It was a bit noisy when the neighbour turned on their air conditioning (since the unit was right outside the window), but other than that I have no complaints.

Let’s talk about transportation first:
Take a taxi to the Quanzhou hotel and walk to the mansion in five or six minutes.
Let’s talk about the surroundings:
There are many small restaurants in the surrounding area. It is more than ten minutes away from West Street and the Confucian Temple, and about twenty minutes away from Kaiyuan Temple. You can walk in the alleys to see the history and appreciate the cultural heritage.
Detailed description of the mansion:
The service staff knows the check-in time before the guests check in, and turns on the electric heater in the room in advance to increase the indoor temperature. Good service 👍
The room is larger than expected. Although the window is a bit small, the seating area and work area are sufficient. Economical price👍
The furnishings in the public areas of the mansion basically retain the ancient home style, fully demonstrating the interactive integration of multiple cultures. Unique style👍
Let’s talk about the shortcomings:
There were a lot of mosquitoes in the room on the first floor. It was still raining in Quanzhou in early March, and people almost froze to death, but the mosquitoes were not dead🙄️
The temperature of the hot water was not quite high, and it was not very hot even after being left there for a long time. Because it was quite late, I did not contact the service staff. Maybe other rooms do not have this problem.
Cats can be more friendly😄

Anonymous UserTime flies when you're having fun, and my trip to this thousand-year-old Quanzhou city has come to an end. What I'll remember most is choosing 2208 Inn, which boasts a fantastic location on the busiest street in Quanzhou's city center. The West Gate of the famous Kaiyuan Temple is just across the road from the inn.
From my room at the inn, I could open the window and gaze at the beautiful night silhouette of Quanxi Hall on West Street. I could also hear the bustling crowds of West Street from outside my window. Day or night, the ancient city's streets are lined with a dazzling array of local snacks and delicacies – think Mianxian paste, Ginger Duck, Fujianese crispy pork, with famous eateries right next door. If you want a taste, just head downstairs; they're just a few steps away. Xunpu flower-wearing shops are also everywhere. If you want to try wearing the flowers, just go downstairs, and you can instantly transform into a beautiful flower-wearing girl.
What brought me the most joy was the genuine conversations I had with the inn staff every time I returned. The front desk's handsome and dedicated customer service representative, the proprietress's beautiful smile, and the cleaning auntie's meticulousness and hard work all exemplify the inn's warm and thoughtful hospitality.
Thank you all for giving me such wonderful memories of the ancient city. It makes me recall: in this thousand-year-old city, in this little alley corner, I unexpectedly encountered your vibrant, almost divine, warmth and vitality. It makes me miss the moment the pigeons flew past the Twin Pagodas of Kaiyuan Temple in the morning, the fragrant misty aroma of Tieguanyin tea in an old teahouse in the afternoon, and the golden glow of the sunset over Jinjiang River.
Encounters are always brief! I've already made a promise with you – if I ever come to Quanzhou again, I will undoubtedly choose 2208 Inn without hesitation. As the year draws to a close and a new one begins, I wish the inn even greater prosperity and a booming year ahead!
