"We stayed in Avana during our recent trip to Ninh Binh. We were looking for homely feel and that is exactly what we got in Avana. The room and the facilities were very clean and on top of it the attentiveness of the host was top notch.
We had to leave early by 7AM for halong bay cruise and the host ensured we could get our desired breakfast by 6:30 AM.
Thanks for your service and people of Ninh Binh for our pleasant stay."

It was okay, there are free bicycles to use. However there are a few things are worth mentioning. There’s no power point beside the bed, so you can’t charge your phone and use it while lying down.
There’s also no power point in the bathroom, which means no blow-drying your hair inside. They do have a spot outside for drying hair, but there’s no mirror there, so it’s not practical and I doubt that setup is going to change.
The room has no entertainment at all, not even a TV, which may or may not matter depending on the person.
One thing that might bother some people is the mirror directly facing the bed. It can be uncomfortable or even considered bad feng shui. Honestly it gave me a bit of a scare at night.
Overall fine for a simple stay, but these are things to be aware of.

A very friendly family runs this small homestay. We felt very comfortable. The room was clean, the beds comfortable, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. A delicious breakfast was also provided, and if the weather is warm enough, you can use the pool. Otherwise, it's also pleasant to relax on the sun lounger in front of the pool. Many thanks to the whole family who run this homestay and ensured we had a wonderful stay.

We had a wonderful stay at The Wooden Gate! The property is absolutely beautiful, with a lovely pool and a very peaceful atmosphere. The breakfast was excellent, with a great selection and everything freshly prepared.
The location is also perfect for exploring the area. With the bicycles provided, we could easily and quickly reach Mua Cave and the Trang An boat tours.
What impressed us most was the kindness and hospitality of the staff. Our children are very picky eaters, and the team even prepared special meals just for them, which we really appreciated.
We felt very welcome and well taken care of throughout our stay. A beautiful place with wonderful service – we would definitely recommend The Wooden Gate!

The swimming pool was very happy, the hotel was surrounded by the mountains, it was not too convenient to go out, so we rented a motorcycle to play everywhere and it was perfect... The hotel's breakfast is not too much, let's eat alive, the price is so cheap and don't expect everything to be perfect. The toilet window in the room cannot be closed tightly, so there are often mosquitoes in the room, but there are simple children's amusement facilities in the hotel garden with electric mosquito patties. Overall very good!

CalvinnI had a great stay here. Bed was okay. You just gotta find the comfortable spots. Some spots are slightly uncomfortable. Its very clean all around. The food is good, but slightly limited. They provide free bikes, but 80% of the them are dangerous and fall apart midway your trip. This has caused me multiple inconveniences. Upon such situation they apologized sincerely and requested to come pick me up. They should replace the bikes for a better and safer experiences. The bathroom has an interesting mountain view from it’s back. The area is beautiful.
The weekdays are great value. On weekends their prices almost double and for that price I would recommend anyone to stay somewhere else to save up to 50% of your money

The hotel seats are not very good and there are few convenience stores nearby.
There are many foreign tourists, almost all of them European and American tourists, and then Korean tourists.
The hotel swimming pool cannot be used due to winter maintenance.
The TV couldn't be watched the next day. Even if I asked the housekeeping staff to deal with it, it still wouldn't work.
The hot water for bathing in the hotel is not hot
Other services can be of a good level or above

The rooms are very nice and clean, had no problem whatsoever.
The staff are very nice and helpful, they really want to help you throughout your stay.
The breakfast are delicious and plentiful, we even had the chance to try their diner service and it was great ^^ a lot of variety in the menu and the service was fast and amazing.
Only thing I have to say is that it’s a bit far from any restaurants, I personally didn’t mind walking around to look for options but it’s a a bit of walk. Nothing too scary, the area is very friendly and smiling 😅
