Overall, there is an outdoor public hot spring pool, and the room has a private pool. Breakfast and dinner are available. Food is not a buffet, but the hotel provides it. Only when the meal is opened on the same day, you know what food is provided. The taste is OK.

KAI Yufuin is a hot spring ryokan under the Hoshino Resorts umbrella, located in the Yufuin Onsen area of Oita Prefecture, Japan. It enjoys a tranquil location overlooking Mount Yufu and nestled amidst its tranquil surroundings. The hotel's design draws inspiration from the local farmhouse style of Yufuin, with its prime attraction being its expansive rice terraces. The table below will provide a quick overview of its key highlights: Featured Dimensions Experience Highlights 🌿 Overall Environment: Surrounded by the mountains of Yufu and cascading rice terraces, the hotel offers a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere, offering a unique view that changes with each season. 🛏️ Room Experience: Guest rooms incorporate local craftsmanship, such as tatami mats crafted from rare Nanashima rush cultivated on Kyushu's Kunisaki Peninsula and ”firefly cage” lighting, which creates a soft, tranquil atmosphere. Some stand-alone rooms are nestled among the rice terraces, offering added privacy. ♨️ Hot Spring Features: Enjoy the Yufuin Onsen. The water is mild and mild, with a mild silicic acid content. Some rooms also feature open-air baths. 🍽️ Dining: We offer kaiseki cuisine featuring local delicacies and seasonal vegetables. 🎎 Cultural Experience: We offer cultural experiences called ”Local Raku,” such as crafting amulets using rice straw. 👍 Who will particularly enjoy this place? · If you seek tranquility away from the hustle and bustle and yearn to unwind amidst nature, you'll love Yufuin's tranquil setting, nestled among rice paddies and mountains, free from the hustle and bustle of a big city. · If you appreciate traditional Japanese crafts and aesthetics, the guest rooms, featuring details like the ”Nanato-no-Ishimura” tatami mats and ”firefly cage” lighting, will evoke a rich sense of Japanese charm. · If you're a hot spring enthusiast, KAI Yufuin offers the Yufuin Onsen. 💡 Things You Need to Know · Surroundings: Yufuin, a hot spring resort, is more tranquil and peaceful than Beppu, a rustic Japanese town. Surrounded by mountains, it boasts refreshingly beautiful rural scenery. · Itinerary: Yufuin is a great place to relax and enjoy your stay at the hotel, taking in the hot springs, strolling, and browsing cafes and art galleries. · Transportation: The hotel is approximately a 10-minute drive from JR Yufuin Station, and a hotel shuttle service is available. 💎 Summary KAI Yufuin offers a tranquil and authentic Japanese onsen experience, with its natural setting of terraced rice paddies and mountains, exquisite Japanese-style guest rooms, high-quality hot springs, and local cultural experiences. Before making a reservation, I hesitated because of the lack of information, but after checking in, I was sure that it was the best choice. I stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. Advantage 1. Private hot spring I was happy because I could soak in the bathtub at any time. I stayed at a private hot spring ryokan in Yufuin, but that place had a structure where you couldn't see outside. You can see the river from the bathroom at Yuyuan. Plus, you can see Sakurajima! Advantage 2. Cleanliness Even if you walk barefoot, your soles are clean. There is no dust anywhere in the room. Even the outside of the window is clean. Advantage 3. Spacious room When I travel, I always choose a room that is at least 25 square meters. It's uncomfortable if it's small. The room I stayed in was 50 square meters. It was spacious for two people. Advantage 4. Meals I had seasonal dinners twice and breakfasts twice, and I ate at the restaurant on the second floor. It was very comfortable because it was a private room. The taste was also excellent. I was even more satisfied because the dishes were made with Kagoshima specialties. Advantage 5. Friendly staff I felt warm staying at a hotel with friendly staff. They were people I want to meet again! The only downside. I took the bus. It was a small bus, not a bus that puts your luggage in the luggage compartment, so I was confused. Of course, this is not a problem for those who take a taxi or rent a car. It is not a good location for those who want to be in a busy area. If you like to take a walk while enjoying the quiet and beautiful scenery, it would be an excellent choice. It was a happy time for me. I walked to Kagoshima Shrine. I gave carrots to a beautiful horse and prayed. Yuyu-an is the perfect place for healing^^

Environment: The hotel boasts an excellent environment, particularly with the in-room rotenburo (open-air bath). The private dining room adds to the exclusive feel. Its location within a quiet community ensures a peaceful and relaxing stay. Staff: A significant advantage for international travelers is the availability of English-speaking staff. Their willingness to communicate through messaging apps makes pre-arrival arrangements and on-site communication smooth and efficient. Transportation: Direct airport bus service to a nearby bus stop offers convenient access to the hotel. However, it's important to check the bus schedule in advance, as departures are infrequent. Planning accordingly will ensure a hassle-free transfer. Location: The hotel's location provides the convenience of being close to a convenience store, just a short five-minute walk away. This makes it easy to pick up any necessities or snacks. Pricing: The pricing is reasonable, especially when considering the exceptional amenities included. The private rotenburo is a luxurious highlight, and the inclusion of both a fabulous breakfast and an elaborate, multi-course dinner (12+ courses) represents excellent value.

I finally got to stay in a deluxe double-bedroom apartment in Japan! Compared to other hotels, it was more like an apartment, with kitchenware and separate toilet and washroom areas. The owner even gave me a bottle of mineral water, something other hotels don't offer. I arrived at Kagoshima Airport around 9 PM, long after public transportation had stopped. I had asked the hotel beforehand if there were still taxis at the airport at that time; a taxi ride to the hotel would cost about 2500-2600 yen. This area is only suitable for transit; it's quite remote. It seems the only direct bus to the airport is in the morning, but I couldn't get up early enough. Other buses take one or two hours, or even only run every two or three hours, and I didn't quite figure it out. There were no taxis on the streets; to find one, you had to ask the shopkeeper to book one for you or call a taxi company. The only nearby attraction was Kagoshima Shrine, but I took the bus to the entrance only to find I was running late for the airport shuttle, so I had to give up. The airport shuttle only accepts old yen if you don't have exact change. In short, transportation was difficult, but thankfully there was a convenience store nearby. If the boss sees this review, please fix the shed on the first floor. It's too noisy when it rains at night, and the raindrops hitting the shed are making it hard to sleep.

I stayed at the first night of my Kagoshima trip and used it for day trip hot springs and dinner on the last day. Despite the reasonable price of less than 5,000 yen for a night stay, the hot springs are flowing from the source where you can enjoy looking at the river. The day trip hot spring is available for 300 yen, and shampoo, conditioner, body soap is also complete. In addition, I was unintentionally relaxed in the healing space where dogs and cats welcomed me. You can enjoy the dishes outdoors like a river floor, and of course you can enjoy the river from the room. Arrived by late flight at night and check-in was around 22:00, but the envy of the red lantern that suddenly appeared in the mountains was like a Yuya of ”Spirited Away”, and it was exciting before entering the building. The building has a modern atmosphere, and you can see the river from your room, and you can spend a luxurious time enjoying sake while watching the river flow.

The hotel is not big but very beautiful, the service is good, the food is very delicious, and the hot spring mineral content is high. Thank you to the restaurant staff for their patient and friendly Chinese, English and Japanese services, and thank you to the front desk lady for helping us contact the bus down the mountain on a snowy day. I want to come to this hotel again. Highly recommended.
