SShioriAs the name suggests, it is a retreat in the jungle. There are no windows, and the trees are the natural windows. You can meet squirrels and monkeys, and you are surrounded by the sounds of many birds and insects in the morning and at night. The hotel offers a variety of activities, which can be booked. The beginning of April, when we stayed, was firefly season, and when it rained in the evening, more than a dozen fireflies surrounded our mosquito net.

The owner goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome, always offering help and thoughtful advice. He even arranged for a local tuk-tuk driver at a very reasonable price, ensuring I had the best experience exploring the area. Every afternoon, he would check in and offer a delightful cup of tea, making the stay feel extra special. His wife’s cooking is an absolute highlight—breakfast was not just delicious but prepared with so much care, adding a homely touch to every meal. The room itself was super clean, big, and incredibly comfortable. From start to finish, they both made me feel completely at home. I can say this was the best accommodation I experienced during my time in Sri Lanka, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a truly memorable and comfortable stay.

GGuest UserThe hotel is located in a local residential area, and it took me a long time to find it before checking in. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool and a garden. There are many restaurants within a five-minute walk, and one of them had such delicious food that I highly recommend it.

GGuest UserThis hotel was in an excellent location. It was nearby restaurants and amenities. We had a pleasant stay except for an issue with the laundry service which was not up to par. Would advise travellers to clarify the no of items and weight of laundry before getting hotel to do it. Laundry was returned to us partially wet and a sock was missing n never found. We were asked to pay more as they claimed that our laundry exceeded the weight. It would have been good to have been informed first. It was unfortunate that the end of stay was disappointing due to this incident. The hotel manager was not very professional in handling the matter. ☹️
