The service provided by the front desk and cleaning staff is quite satisfactory. Any problems will be reported promptly, but follow-up and resolution can be improved. The TV in the room is super poor, the signal period is continuous and it is almost impossible to watch. The room size is okay, the hygiene is average, and the bathroom configuration is also average. For example, there is no basket for dirty towels."

"We chose this as a one-night stopover on our way from Hunan back to Sichuan, and it was a fantastic experience; one of the few genuinely pet-friendly guesthouses. We let them know in advance that we were driving to the parking lot, and it was only a few minutes' walk to the guesthouse. They even came to pick us up and helped with our luggage ❤️. The town itself is peaceful and serene, definitely worth a visit."

"Highly recommend this hotel! The rooms are spacious, well-designed, and airy, making them feel completely comfortable and not at all cramped. The whole-room smart control system is incredibly convenient; lights, curtains, and air conditioning can all be controlled with a single button – it's so high-tech! The cleanliness was a pleasant surprise; the sheets and blankets were spotless and odorless, and the bathroom was immaculate, with even the crevices and nooks cleaned thoroughly. "First, I arrived at Gongtan at 8 PM. On the way, the landlady called to say that neither she nor her husband were at the guesthouse that day, only her mother was. I told her we had a driver and guide, so it wouldn't be a problem to find it. Later, I learned that cars couldn't drive in, and it was very difficult to find. We carried heavy suitcases down from the top, which was exhausting, as it was all high steps. The GPS wasn't accurate here either. Anyway, we searched for a long time, and it was hot and tiring. Second, when we arrived at the guesthouse, the environment was quite nice at first glance—bright and clean, with a nice view from the balcony. However, I thought the two rooms would be two separate rooms, but it turned out to be one large room separated by a glass partition with a bathroom. The soundproofing was terrible; the sound of people using the toilet was very clear, which was embarrassing. When I went to sleep, I found many small black bugs on the bed, the headboard felt quite dirty, and the blanket on the bed felt dirty and fuzzy. The faucet on the sink was loose, and the basin was too small, so water splashed everywhere when I washed my face. Third, I arrived very late at night and hadn't had dinner. I asked the auntie if there were any places to eat nearby, but she said she didn't know. I wandered around aimlessly for a while, and finally saw a bunch of tables next door by the river that looked like a restaurant. I climbed up to check, and sure enough, the place next to my room was a restaurant. I was a bit speechless. I left at eight in the morning, and there was nothing there—no breakfast or anything like that I'd seen in the comments. In short, the only advantage was the environment outside the balcony."

The décor is a beautiful, personal curation: art and personal book collection, vintage porcelain, silk cushions, and carefully chosen artworks. Nothing feels excessive or staged. Every object has intention behind it — a celadon vase here, a bronze figurine there — and yet the overall feeling is one of warmth and ease, not a museum. The rooms are serene, the linens impeccable, and the little touches — embroidered pillow slips, a hand-painted watercolour above the bed — speak of a host who genuinely cares. The lady boss is a gracious and soft spoken lady. She offers just the right amount of company and showed us the warmth of Gongtan residents through her actions and food. This is not just a place to sleep. It is a place that stays with you."

"If you’re traveling to Gongtan ancient town, I highly recommend this hotel! It is located right in front of the pier and looks exactly like the pictures. Sparkling clean, spacious room and very new. The host was very nice and they picked us up at the location where they drop you off if you take the shuttle bus from the Pengshuixi station. They also provided free drop-off too, to the same place they picked us up. The view was insanely beautiful and while there are lots of stairs, the host helped us bring our luggages to our room. I chose this hotel out of the other ones because it’s a divided bathroom and looked clean and new. The hotel also has a restaurant upstairs which serve delicious food that’s not too oily or spicy. Overall, highly recommended"

"I made a special trip back to my hometown, Youyang, to experience the Peach Blossom Spring Forest Hotel. Even though I'm a local and own a place there, I was still willing to spend the money to experience it. The tree-hole room I booked was a fantastic experience; it even had a mahjong machine. It was incredibly photogenic, and the surrounding area was beautiful for taking pictures. The only thing I found a little uncomfortable was the infinity pool, which wasn't as impressive as I'd imagined. Before arriving, I thought it would be a private hotel pool, but when I got there, I found many people who weren't even staying at the hotel using swimming tickets to swim in it. This made me a little uncomfortable. Overall, though, it was great, and the service was excellent; they could easily call a car to pick you up whenever you wanted."

"A trip to Chongqing is incomplete without a stay at Gongtan Ancient Town's Bashi Inn which is located at the bank of the calm Wujiang River facing the forested mountain. The Inn is conveniently situated opposite the Wujiang Cruise Centre. We had 2 blissful nights and adore the scenic view from our balcony. The room is clean and very comfortable. Our host, Ms Ran Ran, is a very warm and helpful person who had gone the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. She helped arrange all our transportation needs: arriving from Pengshui and departure from Gongtan."
