"This was by far the most satisfying place I've stayed during my entire trip through Yunnan. The service was impeccable, truly 5-star. They've thought of almost every scenario in terms of amenities, thoughtful touches, and service. Beyond hand soap, the sink area also had laundry detergent and lotion. When the windows were closed, the soundproofing was excellent; even facing the street, it was incredibly quiet, ensuring a great night's sleep. Laundry left at the door was automatically picked up, washed, and returned daily, perfectly ironed and folded – absolutely no need to worry about it. Daily housekeeping also left handwritten notes, which was a lovely, warm touch. Fresh coffee, tea, and beverages were replenished daily. We upgraded our room and extended our stay by a day. We were even considering extending again for the weekend, but the hotel proactively called us to let us know they were fully booked, so we reluctantly had to end our stay. The breakfast was plentiful, and they even offered complimentary late-night snacks. The ginseng fruit and oranges provided by the front desk were delicious and sweet; my fruit-loving friend and I enjoyed many every day. I want to commend the staff again. If I ever visit Pu'er again, I will definitely stay here and recommend it to all my friends and family."

"The service was excellent, and the room was quite clean. The front desk offered many everyday items for guests to take or borrow, which was a really nice touch and made me feel right at home. The service was very attentive. My white suitcase got a lot of black marks during transit. "The hotel service is absolutely fantastic! They even provide a foot bath bucket and herbal sachets, which is an absolute godsend after a day of being a 'special forces soldier' (sightseeing intensively). Being able to soak my feet when I get back to the room at night is just heavenly! Housekeeping is excellent too; not only was the room spotless, but they also folded my clothes. The front desk staff is incredibly versatile – handling both front desk duties and concierge services, even helping me carry my luggage up and down. Honestly, this hotel absolutely blew me away!"

"The room was very comfortable, and the bed was exceptionally cozy with one firm and one soft pillow. The bathtub was large and deep, and the hot water was excellent, making for a very relaxing bath. The environment was particularly beautiful, the dining area was lovely, and the decorative paintings were stunning! The lobby was also very grand. The lady at the tea room was warm and friendly, sharing a lot of tea knowledge with us. When checking out, the front desk attendant even gave us a small gift, which was a really thoughtful touch!"

"Came here after spending three days in Xishuangbanna. I chose this hotel primarily for its location. The entrance is small, but the facade decor is quite nice. However, there are a few things I really didn't like:
1. The soundproofing is terrible. On top of that, there were wood-knocking sounds in the middle of the night, coming from what sounded like an attic. The rhythm was very consistent, with several sets of knocking. I barely slept the first night.
2. There was a disposable toilet seat cover next to the toilet with a sign saying it was for-pay use, but the bathtub cover didn't have a similar sign. Either don't provide them at all, or charge for both, or make both free.
3. The front desk staff seemed unprofessional and in need of systematic training. Their service felt inconsistent and chaotic.
4. The breakfast selection was limited, and tables weren't cleared promptly. When I went for breakfast at 9:00 AM, there were no seats available except for the high stools at the bar.
5. There aren't many hotel options in Pu'er. I'd suggest sticking with chains like Ji Hotel or Home Inn. Paying so much for this hotel just isn't worth it."

"This homestay should be newly opened soon. The decoration is relatively new and the whole house is smart. The experience is excellent. The boss is very enthusiastic and the staff service is very thoughtful. The aunt who cleans the room is also very good. I can drink the coffee made in the store all the time. I walked into the window of the room and looked very good. Comfortable, especially after the rain, the boss also recommended a place to eat nearby. The taste of Hemu is really super! It is a very tasteful boss hahaha. If I can come to Pu'er next time, I will definitely come back here again! I will recommend it to my friends who love to travel!"

Hygiene: Five-star rating. The bedding is comfortable and soft. The disposable toilet seat covers, disposable face towels, disposable toothbrushes, and toiletries are all excellent! A big plus!
Environment: A quiet oasis in a bustling area. The biggest highlight is the rainforest landscaping – you don't even need to go to a scenic spot to get amazing photos.
Service: They truly embody the feeling of being 'at home away from home.' During breakfast, if you stand in front of the coffee machine or toaster for more than 10 seconds, a staff member will come over and ask if you need help. Finally, I don't have to wander around like a lost child looking for assistance!"

The hotel is good, but from an investment perspective, you still need to consider the ** time issue.

AAstrxdThe environment was very comfortable and relaxing. Beautiful view whwre you can see some of the sea of clouds. They give you disposable coverings for you to put on top of the fresh pillow bedding and mattress for extra hygiene which is a nice touch I haven't seen before. Bathroom is very clean, though there are only two toilets and two showers and two sinks, so do note that for busy season, but it wasn't an issue at all during my stay. They provided breakfast too, fresh milk the boss heated for me when I got up, and red sugar glutinous rice cakes wrapped in banana leaves (babas), and it was fun to get ready for the day with new friends on the balcony overlooking the village. I think the environment is very good for meeting new friends and other solo travelers- I arrived at the hostel randomly at the same time as three other girls, and we explored Manghong togetjer on the boss's recommendations for itinerary and sightseeing. And the next day the boss dropped us off at a tea roasting experience, and just as we were heading to Nuogan another girl from the hostel finished her tea roasting session, so we all went to Nuogan togetjer to play. The boss even helped load my luggage onto the shuttle bus so that it could pick me up at a sightseeing spot further down the mountain!

GGuest User1. Basic room type, no privacy, the window is on the adjacent balcony. It's unbearable to stay in the room unless you draw the curtains. To protect privacy, you have to accept the room having no window.
2. Hotel prices fluctuate wildly. We paid the price of a balcony room for a basic room, and were very unhappy.
3. Don't have high expectations for the hotel's complimentary lunch and dinner. We ate out ourselves, and the food was terrible—very little food, and the dishes weren't clean.
4. The hotel was very crowded. When we checked in, there was a meeting and a wedding banquet. The laundry room was full and unusable, and the parking lot was full; we circled around three times before we could find a parking spot.

The service is refined and discreet, without being intrusive, creating a perfectly relaxed vacation vibe 🌿. I booked a room this time, and it was really high-end, offering great value for money during my trip. In the evening, they even thoughtfully delivered complimentary rice noodles, and supper was also provided – the service was excellent. Parking was convenient too. Breakfast was a bit simple, but still good enough to fill you up. Thumbs up!

OOlive GohWhen I started planning our itinerary for our 15 day Yunnan holiday, I plotted out our path to go all the way up to Shangri-la, back down to Kunming and then to Jiaozi Snow Mountain and Dongchuan Red Land. Then I chanced upon a video of Aini Garden and fell in love! The only reason we came to Pu'er was to get to Aini. This was the first place I booked, and I really took a chance because it has a no cancellation policy and I really had to stick to the date once it was made.
The initial pre-arrival experience was less than pleasant. I didn't know how we were going to get to the manor and my WeChat messages went unanswered. The hotel we stayed at in Pu'er finally got in touch with someone and got them to message me. I asked how we could get there and the answer was a curt ”take a taxi or charter a car”. No pleasantries of ”we look forward to seeing you” or offering to arrange a car.
When we arrived, no one was at reception and no one came out. Our driver was so perplexed he wondered if we were in the right place and if the place was open. Finally a young girl came out and registered us in. There was an air of aloofness from everyone else. However, once we were checked in, things warmed up quickly. We were offered coffee and freshly cut papaya and had a nice introduction chat with the lady staff.
The bedroom and bathroom is well appointed, spacious and comfortable. We would have enjoyed sitting on the balcony if the chairs were more comfortable. I love the floor to ceiling glass windows but the panel above the door should also be glass (it is just netting) so traffic sounds from the road actually comes through at night. I actually wanted to book the cottage in the hills but opted for the standard room in the main house because I was worried it would be cold. Big regret as it is actually magnificently located with stunning views. However take note that you will need to call for a buggy ride or make a 1km hike every time you want to eat or get to the main house. If you are self driving, no issues as you can park right next to the cottage. Anyway it's a small price to pay for an unlimited view of the milky way and seclusion.
This is as close to a Ryokan experience as you can get in China, minus the hot springs. 3 days 2 nights of blissful, carefree living is not quite enough. They make sure they feed you well, with the freshest produce available for hotpot dinner and home-cooked Yunnanese dishes for lunch. There are so many activities organised, from taking you up the mountain for a glimpse of sunrise (with mountain goats for company ❤️) to coffee plantation education tour to horseback riding along the mountain ridges (the view is spectacular!) to scavenging for wild vegetables and fruits to drinking, dancing and singing around the campfire! So much to do, so little time!
One area of improvement I personally would like to see is the coffee serving. They tend to be quite snobbish about how their coffee is taken. Neat, with nothing else. Asking for sugar or milk feels nearly scorned upon. Coffee is a versatile drink and can be savoured in a huge variety of ways. How else is Starbucks so successful? I felt kind of stifled and deprived because I love a good latte and had looked forward to enjoying an unlimited indulgence of coffee throughout our stay.
Anyhow, I love the ecotourism efforts here. It feels natural and unpretentious. I love the people and the camaraderie they cultivate. I especially enjoyed talking to their consultant 敬梅, a beautiful lady with extensive knowledge in Yunnan culture and ecological progress. Also thank you to 徐芳 for arranging transport back to town and giving helpful recommendations. We hope to return again.

SSitao 1985I would love to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Old Town of Chama. It may be a little tricky to find at first, but just follow Google Maps and you’ll get there easily. From the main gate of the Old Town, it’s only about a 5-minute walk.
The hotel itself is quite new and very clean. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and the bathroom facilities and appliances are all modern and high-quality. The soundproofing is excellent—although you might hear music and dancing outside, once inside the room it’s perfectly quiet. The location strikes a nice balance: slightly away from the hustle and bustle, yet just a few steps from plenty of food stalls and restaurants.
What really makes this place special is the owners. They are a warm, welcoming family with parents, an elder sister, and two younger brothers. They don’t speak English, but communication was never a problem—we used Google Translate to chat over cups of delicious tea. If you need anything, you can always ask them. They are very friendly and genuinely do their best to help.

AAnqiFacilities: The facilities are relatively new and clean, and there is really no smell of cigarettes. Hot water came quickly.

Praise: I would like to thank the lady at the front desk of the hotel very much. Because I left in a hurry, I forgot to collect the child's teddy bear doll from the quilt when I left. That was my child's Abebei. As mothers know, although it looks like a discarded short-legged teddy bear doll, it is really important to my child. I found it more than 12 hours after leaving the hotel and called the front desk to look for it. When they heard that it was so important to us, they did not perfunctorily deal with it, but kept looking for the cleaning lady and the brother in charge of linens. After three days of non-stop searching, they finally found it in the factory of the linen cleaning company and delivered it back to the lady at the front desk of the hotel in time. After adding WeChat for confirmation, they handed it to the SF Express courier to send it back to us. The child was really happy when she saw her teddy bear was found. We had almost no hope, they were really caring and made our family feel very warm. Recommended to everyone, this is a very warm hotel! Yes, it is very loud and you hear everyone. We’ve stayed in other fully wooden places, it’s worse here. Maybe not the wood but the guests are the problem. Loud Chinese people, walking the stairs with the heaviest pace you can imagine. Maybe help the other guests by hanging some warnings on the stairs: please be mindful for the other guests when walking to your room.
Also loud Chinese tourist on the square below. Not only while eating they scream all over the place, also with the tea ceremony nobody asks them to please stop talking after 23:00/24:00. We were up till 02:00AM because of tea drinking Chinese people at the fire. We stayed in the suite, which is located above the fire pit. Maybe the other rooms are less noisy. At 7AM each morning, somebody ran down the stairs. We think it’s the staff. It wakes you up through your earplugs.
The staff is OK. They are very shy, not rude. They could be more pro active though as we didn’t feel like they wanted to do something.. which is different to rude but also not very friendly.
The other villages around are way bigger and less cozy than Wengji. Also, with this guesthouse being just next to the town, it was perfect to escape the tourists most of the time. We didn’t find other accommodations in Wengji with the same aesthetics as Shishi guesthouse so we can’t recommend other places better than this.
Maybe if the guesthouse would invest in trying to keep the noise down under the various guests, with text signs or with clearer house rules (fire pit), the noise problem wouldn’t be as bad.
Maybe if they tried to enthusiast their staff more and keep them from watching Chinese drama shows on their phones all day, they would be a bit more welcoming.
We’ve met a lot of amazing people in Wengji, it’s definitely not the locals that have this behaviour.
Lastly, the suite has a cubicle bathroom in the room, they really don’t clean this well. It smells very bad and just feels dirty all over.
For comfort this place is too expensive, for the location and aesthetics you won’t find better options nearby.
