"The hotel is located right next to the old town, very close to Yulinzhou. The scenic spot itself is unmanaged and poorly maintained, quite unremarkable. We stayed in a suite this time, and its overall condition was pretty good. However, the air conditioning unit has a design flaw; it lacks a soundproof return air box, and the supply and return vents are too close, leading to excessive noise from the fan. Thankfully, the weather wasn't hot, so we could sleep with the AC off. Breakfast was decent. Considering the room rate, the early morning construction, starting around 8 am with a jackhammer no less, was disruptive. They really need to manage noise times better to improve the guest experience."

"The hotel is located right on the beachfront, less than 100 meters from the shore. The owner upgraded me to a suite with a sea view (15th floor) free of charge. This room had the best sea view I've ever stayed in (although I've stayed in sea view rooms with direct beach access, none were on this high floor, and the view wasn't as expansive. This one had floor-to-ceiling windows in both the balcony and bedroom that opened directly onto the balcony, allowing me to fall asleep with the windows open and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore). The room was renovated this year, so the facilities were very new, the amenities were complete, and it was very clean. Parking was convenient. It's about 5 kilometers by car from Yulinzhou, a landmark of Dongfang City (even closer as the crow flies; you can see the famous Yulinzhou Lighthouse from the balcony, as seen in the third photo of the distant hills), and only 6 or 7 kilometers from the city center (Dongfang City is quite small)."

When we drove into Dongfang, we found the Mercure Grand Lisboa Hotel on Ctrip. "The room was huge and I was very satisfied. We ordered fruit and enjoyed watching a projector in the evening – it was fantastic! The hotel has air conditioning, and with the temperature dropping in Hainan, the heater made it much more comfortable. The room floor was very clean, and the location near Wanda Plaza is quite lively. There was a little mishap: I navigated from Qizi Bay (beautiful scenery, very fine sand) to the hotel, but I chose the wrong option and ended up at the Changjiang branch, which took another hour to reach the Dongfang branch. In the evening, you can take a taxi to the port to buy seafood; there are processing shops everywhere. You can also try the roasted suckling pig in Dongfang while you're there. Adding a writing desk to the bedroom would be even better, as there's nowhere to put things for writing or working on the computer."

The hostel owner was very helpful and friendly, the beds were comfortable and both sitting and standing toilets available. The sea view rooms had gorgeous views too. The hostel is close to the cities best beaches but about an hour by walking/bus to the city centre, however the owner does let you borrow his Escooter if you're comfortable driving it.

Stayed during the Spring Festival, forgot to comment. The hotel is the best hotel in Dongfang City, it's really good. But the laundry room needs to be improved. The self-service laundry room is too simple and not enough during peak hours. For a business and resort hotel like this, the laundry room is a very important supporting facility. The basement smells a bit. The breakfast is very good. It's also very rich. But during the peak period, I didn't see the management staff. I stayed for several days and only saw the waiters busy. I hope it will be helpful to the hotel. As a fan of a fellow hotel owner and boss, I hope the boss's business will be prosperous and everything will be good.

The hotel was much more secluded than we realized. There’s nothing around it so difficult to stay here without a car. But the hotel itself was very nice. Room was beautiful and spacious, restaurant was good with a great breakfast, pool was very nice. The staff was very helpful and responsive on WeChat. Thanks for the great stay!
