"Going to Alishan -> Where's the Alishan Hotel? -> Why is the hotel so cheap today? Following this stream of consciousness, I planned my trip around that one strangely cheap day for a hotel, which ended up being a trip to Taichung. There were many reviews, but the location is great, and the view is absolutely fantastic. They even posted the sunrise train schedule for Chaoping Station and the sunrise time in the hotel lobby. There's also a round-trip shuttle to the Alishan Information Center. The hotel room was clean, and they informed me that hot water would be available until midnight, but it was still working fine in the morning. The air conditioner is a combined heating and cooling unit. If you switch the mode correctly, you'll see a 'heat' indicator. It was a bit chilly that day, but I slept warmly. The hotel room is quite spacious, and the bedding is excellent. When booking through Trip.com, it states that you need to call to confirm your reservation two days before your stay. I recommend trying to send an email first. It was a difficult time for both the staff member and me... ㅠㅠ Sending an email resolved it very simply. And for some reason, Trip.com also called me separately regarding the reservation. I'm still not sure if they confirmed the reservation on Trip.com's end and notified me, or if they did it because my initial attempt to use Trip.com's internet call failed. The check-in process was assisted by a male staff member who was very friendly. Thank you! The hotel has a restaurant, but it's entirely reservation-based. I ate dinner outside, so I reserved for breakfast. It was served neatly and simply. In the morning, the door to the stairs is blocked, so you have to use the elevator."

"It’s a 10 mins walk to the nearest convenience store and eateries near to Xiding bus stop. The path gets quite dim and quiet at night. What’s nearby is mainly the “Tea and Mist Trail” - entrance to the trail is 2 mins walk from Dafang. The nearest bus stop to Dafang is Lincuo (3-5 mins walk away), which is not a major stop i.e. you can get off the tourist shuttle bus but you can’t board at Lincuo bus stop. The nearest stop to board the bus is Xiding. The room was fairly comfortable, but we were far from impressed with the aesthetics. Functional wise, It would have been useful to have a clothing rack in the room. While the room is spacious, the bathroom is rather cramped. Breakfast was simple and individually served, at the rooftop lounge which offers a great view of the mountain range."

"The service was exceptional! On the day my girlfriend and I were checking out, we wanted to spend a bit more time exploring Alishan National Scenic Area before catching our train down the mountain. Before we even had a chance to ask, the staff at the front desk proactively offered to deliver our luggage directly to the train station, saving us the trip back to the hotel. This level of service was incredibly thoughtful! The hotel's shuttle arrived at the station at 11:30 AM, just as we were returning from exploring Zhaoping Park. We were able to board our 11:50 AM train down the mountain effortlessly. We're truly grateful for the hotel staff's incredible help!"

"Highly recommended if you are looking for a chill and comfortable stay. The environment was great, quiet, and relaxing, while the owner was very friendly and helpful. The owner requested an additional TWD200 for my 5-year-old boy and kindly upgraded our room from 3 double beds to 4 double beds. The breakfast was comforting and tasty. They also provided stationery and coloring materials for kids to draw and paint, which was perfect for keeping my little one entertained. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. The owner also kindly explained the route to Alishan and even brought us to watch the sunrise, which made the experience even more memorable."

"Situated just behind the town centre, it's a small boutique hotel amongst the row of hotels in the town centre. The bathroom & room are renovated so it's modern & comfortable. There's an electric blanket which heats up the bed & should be switched off once it's warm. Surprisingly the room doesn't have heating but is well insulated. There's no shower door & bathroom gets abit wet no matter how carefully the spray is kept in. No point warning that the floor gets slippery."

"I had an absolutely unforgettable stay at Applause in the Mountain. Surrounded by nature, the peaceful atmosphere and stunning mountain views made this a truly relaxing escape from the city. The room was clean, cozy, and beautifully designed to blend with the natural surroundings. Waking up to the fresh air and scenic views was definitely a highlight of the stay. The hosts were warm, welcoming, and very attentive, making sure everything was comfortable throughout my visit. Their hospitality really added a personal touch to the experience. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway to recharge and reconnect with nature, this is the perfect place. I would definitely come back again and highly recommend it!"

"The hotel is located near the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum. Some rooms offer views of the Southern Branch. The staff are friendly and courteous, enthusiastically recommending nearby restaurants. The hotel has complete facilities, a variety of affordable dining options, and an exceptionally clean outdoor swimming pool with views of the Southern Branch. Today, March 17th, the lifeguards were very friendly and chatted with guests, making us feel right at home. This stay was truly memorable and will be our only choice for accommodation when visiting Chiayi..."

"Great 1 day stay at Alishan Hotel, with dinner and breakfast covered. The dinner spread was fabulous. The shuttle service to visitor centre was very frequent and Hotel staff were very helpful and obliging. It's a good location and starting point fior the forest trail walk. Starbucks as lobby lounge was a bonus."

"The hotel's hygiene was pretty good; I didn't notice any dirty spots, and the duvet in the room was comfortable and warm. However, the soundproofing in the room was really bad. I could hear everything from the toilet flushing next door to people showering and even sneezing 😂. The hotel's location is a bit out of the way. It's situated lower down among a cluster of hotels and is the furthest from Alishan Station. Getting there involves walking down stairs or a slope, which means every time you go from the hotel to the station or out for a meal, you have to walk uphill, which is quite tiring 😂. Also, there's no elevator, and even though it's only three stories high, those with large luggage should be aware."

"Environment is peaceful and suitable for people who drive because it's quite far away from Taiping Bridge and not accessible by public transport. So we ended with plenty of time after arrival. So we engaged a private car to chauffeur us the next day for NT3500 from Minsu to Taiping Bridge (too misty to see anything), then had lunch at Fenqihu and finally stopped at Alishan hotel. We should have stuck to original plan to just go Fenqihu for NT1000 transport fare and stay there for a night because when we reached Alishan, it was near 3:30p.m., there's not much time for us to roam the place due to the gloomy weather and heavy mist."
