Cheap Hotels in Tanabe

"Overall, it was a pleasant stay. The hotel is clean and relatively new, and the staff are friendly—though, like many Japanese hotels, service tends to follow a strict standard operating procedure. The location is slightly misleading; it’s not as close to the station as advertised, so expect a bit of a walk. One thing to note is the room size. The bed and toilet seat are quite small, and the space overall feels tight. It may be uncomfortable for larger guests, so that’s worth keeping in mind before booking."

"I had originally planned to book the Kamenoi Hotel in Kikatsuura, but I found this one in Tanabe at the last minute and decided to change my plans. The hotel has a shuttle bus from Tanabe, but it seems to leave around 2:30 PM. We arrived around noon, so we opted to go ourselves; a taxi would have cost around 85 yuan. The hotel scenery is beautiful, perfect for a quiet vacation and a few extra days. There are several scenic spots nearby, probably a national park, with stunning views. It was quite windy that day, but we still managed to walk around the island. The hotel service was excellent. They even provided local snacks and green tea in the room. The best part was that from afternoon until 9:00 PM, the hotel lobby offered complimentary red wine, white wine, plum wine, beer, and snacks – that was fantastic! We ordered three simple dishes for dinner, which were quite good (it would be much more cost-effective to book a set menu that includes dinner). In the evening, we went to the large public bath for a soak. The outdoor view of the sunset was amazing."

"The hotel is very nice and still feels brand new, with a great location close to Kii-Tanabe Station. The staff were friendly, the check-in process was fast, and the room was very clean and comfortable. The laundry facilities, ice machine, and vending machines were all excellent. We also appreciated the free breakfast and complimentary coffee/tea in the afternoon. This hotel is highly recommended and perfect as a starting point for the Kumano Kodo journey. One suggestion would be to offer breakfast earlier or provide breakfast boxes for hikers starting early in the morning. Highly recommended, and we would definitely stay here again."

"Beyond imagination, it was so much fun, truly perfect for summer! My kids loved digging for hot springs by the river, and for the first time, they actually enjoyed soaking in them. It's a shame we didn't bring swimsuits and floats, otherwise, we could have had a water fight! Dinner was also good; although the variety wasn't huge, there was enough to eat. The service was excellent, and the hotel was very clean. The only minor complaint is that the dryer didn't quite get clothes completely dry even after half an hour, so I wasn't entirely satisfied with the dryer."

"Tianbian Hotel, the location is excellent, the room is stylishly decorated, the service is friendly and thoughtful, making people feel warm and comfortable. Every employee is dedicated to taking care of the needs of the guests and making the guests feel at home. The hotel provides a rich breakfast to meet guests of different tastes. Find the ideal stay here for business or leisure. Overall, the Tianbian Hotel is an unforgettable accommodation choice and is recommended for all travelers."

"I loved my stay, and was surprised by this property only being rated with a 7 because for such a low price in that area is amazing. According to what I've read, there's some things that have changed in comparison to previous years such as automated check-in/check-out (be aware that if you have any issue during check-in immediately the hotel stuff will call you to the phone on the desk behind you... it took me a while to realize that the call was for me :D ), there's an onsen now at the property at the 3rd floor, and there's no food service anymore. Laundry is free (both waschmachine and dryer). I was positively surprised!"

"The entrance was a bit hard to find, but locals were super helpful and guided me right to it. The hot spring bathhouse is huge, and the water is flowing and very clean. No waiting around, so I could just relax and enjoy the soak. It was perfect for relieving the muscle fatigue from hiking the Kumano Kodo."

"Our room is typical Japanese home style (tatami), small but very cozy and well equipped. The host was very friendly, allowed us to dine in even though it had passed the time for last order, and helped us arrange for a luggage shipping. Thanks a lot!"

"On the Kumano Kodo (Kumano Kodo Trail), near the Kawayu stop, the onsen hotel I chose is right across from a natural river bath. The hotel offers free shovels so you can dig your own bath in the river. I recommend bringing a swimsuit. The hotel also has its own indoor and outdoor public onsen. I booked a room that included the outdoor bath. Staying only one night might be a bit too much. I booked a one-night, two-meal package. Without meals in the mountains, you'd probably only be able to eat instant noodles. The Kumano beef served here was excellent. There's also a dedicated bus stop at the entrance with direct buses to Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine and Shingu."
