The city of Huazhou exceeded our expectations. It’s amazing. I was originally driving north from Hainan and was going to Zhanjiang after passing Xuwen Port, but after going there a few times I felt it was just average, so I changed my route to Huazhou and stopped there. I didn’t expect this small city to be so cozy, with so many delicious foods and cheap prices. The hotel is new and the facilities and equipment are intelligent. The front desk clerk was very nice. The upgrade to a river view room was awesome. The environment is nice for a walk along the river after dinner, without the hustle and bustle of a big city. I really recommend stopping here. Much better than staying in Zhanjiang.

The location is near the maoming high speed rail station, a 7 minutes walking distance to my hotel. The nearby 東汇城 shopping mall and 文化广場，Culture Square park can be reached by Didi easily. And I got to eat the 醉鵝 fried drunken goose near my hotel too!

The service at the front desk is very good. There is a small room while waiting for friends. My brother came over to help me pour water, which was very considerate! It's clean and tidy, and the breakfast is rich and delicious.

I called the front desk multiple times in the early morning, but no one answered. Eventually, I went to the front desk and requested a room change. While there were no more cockroaches in the new room, I still saw geckos. I didn't even dare to use the private hot spring on the balcony. Summary: Facilities: They're okay, but the hotel pool has no shade. Hygiene: The ground-floor rooms seem to be a bit worse; at least I encountered cockroaches. The higher floors also have geckos, and a previous guest's bag wasn't cleaned out. Environment: It's quite secluded and quiet, suitable for relaxation. However, because it's so remote, there are no delivery services nearby, so you have to eat at the hotel. Service: The service was good. The front desk patiently resolved the issue and offered fruit as compensation.

This international brand, established over a decade ago, is showing its age with outdated facilities that no longer match its brand image. Fortunately, the front desk staff was very sharp and proactively upgraded our reserved room. The reason given was that it was rainy during our stay and our original room would have been quite damp. I'm glad for the upgrade; seeing the upgraded room's condition, I can only imagine how uncomfortable our original booking would have been. The staff at the front desk, breakfast area, and those operating the small train were all very enthusiastic. The hotel's surroundings are quite desolate; to find local cuisine, you'd have to drive at least 20 kilometers to the city. The hotel's evening beach entertainment program was also quite limited. If you're not driving and relying solely on the hotel's shuttle service to and from the high-speed rail station, you'd really need to think twice, unless you plan on vacationing at the hotel for a week and have ample time to work around their shuttle schedule.
