(Sunbathing on Patong Beach, got drenched by a sudden downpour, but after the rain, saw a rainbow and instantly forgave everything)

💔 Reasons that broke my heart

“End of rainy season, constant showers”: March is the hot season in Phuket, but there are occasional showers. One moment it’s sunny, the next it’s pouring rain, umbrellas on the beach get blown away, and everyone scrambles in a mess.

“Beaches packed with people”: Patong Beach is like a crowded market, chairs are packed tightly, it’s hard to find an empty spot. The Jungceylon pool is also overcrowded, impossible to swim freely.

“Day trip feels like military training”: Signed up for a Phi Phi Island day tour, gathered at 6 AM, the speedboat ride was so rough it made me sick, only 1 hour on the island for photos, then rushed to the next island, the whole trip was a mad dash, exhausting.

“Prices soaring”: Compared to pre-pandemic, prices in Phuket have risen a lot. Street vendors’ fried rice noodles went from 50 baht to 100 baht, and lobster at seafood restaurants is ridiculously expensive.

💡 But if you insist on going… (reverse recommendation / survival guide)

✅ Scenery that instantly makes you forgive everything

· Kata Beach sunset: Compared to Patong, Kata Beach is much quieter. Lying on the beach at dusk, watching the sun slowly sink into the Andaman Sea, the sky changes from pink to purple, stunning beyond words.

· Promthep Cape’s sunset glow: If the weather is good, you must go to Promthep Cape to watch the sunset. Standing on the cliff edge, waves crashing below, the fiery sunset on the horizon is unforgettable.

· Similan Islands: Although far, the water in Similan is jelly-colored, and the sand is as fine as flour. Open only half the year, March is the last chance; snorkeling lets you see turtles and coral.

✅ Local lifestyle tips

· Stay at “Kata Beach”: Don’t stay in Patong, it’s noisy. Kata is peaceful, hotels offer good value, 200-300 RMB can get a nice place, and the beach is right outside.

· Breakfast at “street stalls”: 20 baht Thai milk tea, 50 baht chicken skewers, much tastier than hotel buffets. Or buy sandwiches and milk at “7-11,” cheap and convenient.

· Rent a long-tail boat from fishermen: At Kata Beach, find local fishermen to rent a long-tail boat to nearby islands, cheaper than day tours and you can set your own schedule.

✅ Terrain / climate survival kit

· Sunscreen trio: Anessa sunscreen (reapply every 2 hours) + sun-protective clothing + sunglasses. Phuket’s UV rays are strong; no sunscreen means peeling skin.
· Rain gear: Umbrella + waterproof phone pouch, sudden showers come without warning.
· Mosquito repellent: Herbal balm, apply at night or you won’t sleep from bites.

📍 Hardcore survival guide

🔥 Gear code

· Tops: T-shirt/tank top + sun-protective shirt.
· Bottoms: Shorts/beach pants.
· Shoes: Flip-flops (beach) + sneakers (boating/hiking).

🔥 Pitfall avoidance tips

· “Negotiate tuk-tuk fares”: Tuk-tuks in Patong start at 200 baht, can bargain down to 100 baht.
· “Check seafood restaurant scales”: Some restaurants tamper with scales or swap dead lobsters for live ones, keep an eye out.
· “Choose reliable day tour companies”: Use official travel agencies, don’t go for the cheapest or you’ll have a bad experience.

🔥 Photo rescue plan

· Wear bright swimsuits (red/yellow), very eye-catching in the jelly-colored sea.
· Use silhouettes for sunset shots, person by the sea, backlit.
· For portraits, shoot “back views,” running on the beach, candid shots.

🎁 Hard-earned bonuses

“Free viewpoint”: Walk south from Kata Beach to a small hill, climb up for a panoramic view of Kata Bay.

“Hidden café”: “The Boathouse” at Kata Beach, order a coffee and watch the sea all afternoon.

“Late-night warming Thai hotpot”: “MK Gold” in Patong, about 80 RMB per person, clear broth, dip in Thai sauces, delicious.

💎 Final honest truth

Suitable for:
· Island lovers (Phuket is the perfect beginner island).
· Those who like lively places (Patong bar street, vibrant nightlife).
· Diving enthusiasts (Similan, Phi Phi Islands, diving paradise).

Not suitable for:
· Budget travelers (Phuket is not cheap now).
· People who hate crowds (popular beaches are very crowded).
· Those sensitive to heat (March is very hot).

Summary: Phuket in March is a “painful yet joyful” destination. Although crowded and rainy, seeing that sea makes it all worth it.

📍Phuket Old Town

Phuket Town is famous for its Sino-Portuguese style streets lined with colorful buildings. The yellow, pink, and pastel-toned structures make it a perfect spot for casual photography as you stroll through.

Around the iconic Thalang Road, you'll find cafes, souvenir shops, and local restaurants, making it an ideal place for a leisurely walk and exploration. Hidden murals and small shops in the alleys add to the fun of wandering around like you're on a casual stroll.

The atmosphere becomes even more vibrant in the evening. Street lights illuminate the area, and the crowd grows, creating a livelier vibe compared to daytime. If you're looking to experience a blend of old-world charm and hip vibes in Phuket, visiting Phuket Town is a must. Phuket Airport is truly a compact, yet very convenient place! ✈️It has everything travelers need: pharmacies, cozy cafes ☕, and souvenir shops 🏝️. Don't forget about alcohol, cosmetics, and perfume—the selection is impressive! 🛍️

The lounge areas offer a comfortable rest, and the airport is incredibly clean! 🌟 The only downside is that there can sometimes be long lines at passport control. But don't worry! You can pay 200 baht at the left-hand window and get through security quickly. 💨

This way, you'll have more time to stroll around the airport, buy souvenirs, and visit the duty-free shops. Overall, I was pleased with the service and atmosphere at this airport! 🏖️

Kata Noi is the next beach just south of Kata. It's smaller, but way more picturesque! 😍 You'll find beautiful rocks here—making it the perfect spot for photos 📸🤳.

Beach perks:
· the waves are usually calmer than at Kata 🌊;
· there are food stalls where you can grab water or a fresh coconut 🥥🍹;

How to get there? It's just a 7-minute walk from the end of Kata Beach, though you'll have to hike up a bit of a hill ⛰️🥾.

In the evening, head up the hill and grab dinner at a cafe with breathtaking views overlooking Kata Noi! 🌆🍽️ It's an unforgettable experience! 💫

I absolutely love this spot and highly recommend checking it out! ❤️

🇵🇭 Philippines - El Nido
El Nido, a destination visited by Audrey Kasuga for her honeymoon, is one of the most beautiful places she has seen during her numerous overseas shoots. 😌✨

🇮🇩 Indonesia - Bali
Bali attracts tourists from all over the world, including many from Western countries, making it a lively destination. ✨ The hotels are top-notch, so much so that you can spend an entire day within the hotel itself. At Petitenget Beach, sofas are set up at night, allowing you to enjoy meals while gazing at the ocean. ☺️

🇹🇭 Thailand - Phuket Island
Just a 1.5-hour flight from Bangkok, Phuket is one of the world's premier resorts. Known as the "Pearl of the Andaman Sea" for its emerald-green waters and pristine white sands. ⛱️ Patong Beach is bustling with people and offers plenty of activities. I even tried parasailing for the first time here!

🇲🇾 Malaysia - Penang Island
Penang Island is about an hour from Kuala Lumpur. ⛱️ The beaches offer activities like banana boating and jet skiing. George Town is famous for its wall art, which can be found all over the streets, making for great photo opportunities. 📸

🇻🇳 Vietnam - Phu Quoc Island
Located at the southernmost tip of Vietnam, Phu Quoc Island is connected to Hon Thom Island by a cable car. Hon Thom features a water park with thrilling slides that feel like roller coasters. Unlike Japan, where you'd wait 2-3 hours, there was almost no waiting time here. Unfortunately, I didn’t bring my smartphone, so I couldn’t take any photos. 😂 The island is still relatively unknown in Japan, and I hardly saw any Japanese tourists.

Discover resort islands with stunning beaches, rich nature, and cultural experiences 🌴. These are all wonderful destinations that you can visit at affordable prices!

I had the chance to visit Promthep Cape, and I must say it truly lives up to its reputation. This place is considered one of the most stunning sunset viewpoints in Phuket. The atmosphere is wonderful, with a cool sea breeze and a panoramic view of the ocean stretching as far as the eye can see. Especially in the evening, as the sun sets on the horizon, the sky gradually transforms into shades of orange and pink—so breathtaking that you'll find yourself snapping photos non-stop.

Below, there's a pathway leading down closer to the sea. If you love photography or want to experience nature up close, you should definitely explore it. However, I recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes as the path is slightly steep.

Overall, this is a must-visit spot in Phuket. You’ll enjoy the stunning views, great atmosphere, and take home unforgettable memories.
