My wife and I stayed for 2 nights and were drawn in by reputation and quality of the other principal hotels across the country. I was shocked to read so many bad reviews and almost booked somewhere else as a result. It seems most of the intolerant previous residents had issues with noise, smells. food, rooms, service. We didn’t experience any of that and can only conclude that most of the reviews are either planted as false information by competitors or result of warm summer, outdoor bar or questionable views / aspect of room. We stayed in a king on 3rd floor, room 300. If you’re worried about anything just book that one! Tasteful clean decor and great views to the minster. Notable comments for James who went above and beyond to sort out a small issue with audio description hardcoded into the TV, sorted smoothly and efficiently. Great location, atmosphere and setting. We will be back with our dog next time. Don’t believe everything you read from dissolutioned guests who want a megaphone to comment on perceived issues.

We booked this hotel for a 3 day get away to York. The hotel is well situated off Tadcaster Road, near a woodland path which leads to York racecourse, so is very popular for those who go to the horse racing. Free parking is given on the hotel’s ground, but be warned make sure you go to reception and put in your car registration details in their computerised system otherwise you will be issued with a parking fine from the company who operates CCTV monitoring for the hotel. We booked the hotel through the IHG website, as an IHG Gold member we were given an option of an early checkin for a fee of £20.00 and an upgrade of £45.00. We took advantage of both offers, subject to availability on arrival. Unfortunately this wasn’t possible on arrival, and we weren’t able to check in until nearly 3pm. We were given the upgrade of a room on the top floor. The room had a small fridge with complimentary water and a chocolate bar, slippers, and dressing gowns. The toiletries, conditioner, shampoo, body lotion, are all in fixed to the wall containers. The bath room had a large walk in shower which was quite powerful, but space to hang towels, put personal toiletries was very minimal, and I was thankful that I took a plastic shoe type hold-all and a suction hook which I attached to the shower door to put our toiletries in, otherwise they would have cluttered the sink area. The bathroom was very small, and the door needs to be closed to get any room to do what is necessary in the bathroom. We booked a deal of dinner bed and breakfast. This was a disaster. We went for dinner and just about everything on the menu wasn’t available. Eventually we ordered a burger and chips. After about 30 minutes the food arrived. It was the worse burger and chips I have ever tasted. The burger was burnt on the outside, raw in the middle, the bun was burnt, the chips were very brown, which tasted of fat. We picked at the food as we were so hungry but it wasn’t nice, and hardly edible, in fact what I ate made me feel quite sick afterwards. We complained to reception, who apologised, and said that chefs in York were really hard to employ, and offered to refund the dinner to our account. We said that if this was the case, we would rather not eat dinner in the hotel, and could they please refund the dinner portion from our account for the rest of the stay. We had breakfast for the next 3 mornings, but it wasn’t marvellous, often dishes weren’t refilled when emptied. Some staff didn’t seem to know what they were doing, and others didn’t seem to be that bothered, or concerned, about the guests in the hotel, possibly some more customer service training could be beneficial all round. For the remainder of the stay we ate our evening meal in the pub across the road, which was really good. We stayed last weekend to celebrate two birthdays and we arrived on the Friday night at approximately 8.00 pm. We managed to get a car park at the Peel Street car park which is literally located at the back of the hotel. You can unload at the the front on the hotel and the road isn't that busy so you can pull up and unload safely. Reception staff friendly and polite and we were allocated room 209. Upon entering the room is did seem dark and not very big and it was a double bed, but the room was clean and it was what we had booked. We went out for the evening just to grab a quick bite to eat and when entering the room and getting ready for bed it was quite noisy outside. I checked the window and the vent only to realise it was shut. I went to Reception to discuss the noise level as I thought it was coming from Weatherspoon's Pub across the road but in fact I had my geographic location wrong and it was in fact coming from a park that is located at the side of the hotel. The staff were very helpful in checking the floors of the hotel to double check it was not coming from within the hotel but we did ascertain that it was in fact people in the park. (NOTE this is not the hotels fault at all). The hotel dealt with this promptly and it went very quiet after about 20 mins so I am guessing the people were moved on by the authorities. The next morning we were relocated to a higher floor, same type of room and layout which served our purposes much better as the room was much lighter and quieter. Thank you. A great view over the city was was lovely. The Manager on site that weekend was very polite and helpful in moving us the following morning when their was availability and rectified the situation promptly for us. It was my birthday weekend and once we were moved we really felt we started to unwind and enjoy our weekend away. Breakfast was plentiful on all three days and the staff in the breakfast room are smiley, polite and constantly checking things were in stock and were always clearing tables. It is a busy breakfast room but nothing was too much trouble for them......even warming the pancakes up as it is a buffet breakfast. Thank you Tia the Manager for solving the problem we had and for Nicky and his co-worker (apologies a lovely blond lady) who went floor to floor on the Friday night to look for the noise which I am glad to say it wasn't coming from within our hotel). A great hotel for walking in the city and although we did have a small problem the Management dealt with it, without any hassle and it was not awkward when seeing them again which was lovely.

Was worried reading reviews but we had the best get away here for our wedding anniversary. Our room was overlooking the small courtyard and was very clean. Could not fault our room. We arrived early so had a drink at the bar, check in was quick and easy and the lady on reception was very pleasant and polite. Nice touch of chocolates in our room for our anniversary. Only a 10 minute walk into the main centre which has plenty to do and see. Before we left Sunday we wanted to explore and was advised we could stay in the car park as long as needed. Was very quiet in our room and had a decent night sleep. We will definitely return, we had the most perfect weekend.

The location of the hotel is pretty good. The castle is just outside the door. It takes more than 10 minutes to walk to the train station and more than 400 meters to the Shambles Street. The room is not big and the sound insulation is average. The bathroom water will be all over the floor. The faucet of the basin takes a long time. Hot water comes out.

We were disappointed about the parking arrangements, but the pleasant lady on reception found us a spot which we occupied for our mid week break. Loved my room, there were good cocktails and plenty of room for our group to relax. Staff were all helpful to us, although perhaps they were sometimes a little hassled. The breakfasts set us up for a good day's tourism. Very easy for us to walk into the centre and explore. We would return.

It was an ok stay but for us we didn’t realise we booked when the football was on and the away fans had pretty much booked the hotel and to say it was noisy was an understatement. Staff were friendly enough but didn’t ask us if we wanted Breakfast or if we had stayed there before so seemed pretty sub standard and not really that invested in what they were doing. We had planned to use the pool but some local kids sneaked in and used it making it loud and unusable during our stay they were just causing problems and the hotel didn’t act. This is the biggest failing the hotel fails to act we had loud guests door slamming music playing loud football fans going mad till 4am and nothing was done about it. The beds were not that comfy as sadly neither of us had a good nights sleep on top of the noise by others the rooms offered no sound proofing. No air conditioning which is crazy in this day and age and not even a fan in the room, when we asked for one we just got laughed at and told good luck with that by housekeeping. This places lacks staff that care or take pride in their work. The bathroom had no fan so when used steam went everywhere and the water pressure and temperature was terrible it wasn’t overly clean so couldn’t use the bath. Only thing going for this hotel is it’s location but we wouldn’t use it again as the rooms need a lot of TLC and the staff need extra training more so on the communication front. Upon check out we weren’t even asked did we enjoy our stay as we wanted to raise our concerns.

Myself, my son (11 years) and our puppy Hugo and my parents had the privilege of staying in this hotel for 2 nights whilst we had a 2 day city break in York. The staff are extremely welcoming, so friendly, happy to help and fun. The reception area is awesome with so many games and books to read we never had a dull moment. The staff were so good with Hugo, which was a bonus that we could bring our puppy and feel so welcome we would love to come back and stay. The beds are so comfy, massive flat screen tv in rooms, lovely showers and really cool deign in rooms we loved it. The staff really went out of there way too help in anyway they would and gave us a really friendly Advice in where to go too to eat and see th sights of York. Our room was cleaned beautifully and we enjoyed sitting out in the courtyard for our complimentary drinks on our last night. Wonderful ! What more can you ask for :) thanks everyone you made it very special for us all :)

Awful stay, sleep deprived because we had a faulty fire alarm screaming alarms into our ears and the last night and following day were completely ruined for us negating the whole point of a short two day city break. Fire alarm was faulty and repeatedly went off during the night, screeching into your ears starting at 10 pm, if that doesn’t sound like fun to you, avoid, especially as the issue wasn’t fixed when we left. Alarm issues started on Sunday morning but didn't seem to be passed onto staff on Sunday evening and were not dealt with or forwarded. Fire alarm went off on Sunday night at 10pm which should have registered a major issue but rather than deal with it, roomzzz just left it. I rang the member of staff on duty and told him it needed silencing due to him saying it was a faulty sensor and i informed him it had gone off before that day of which he was not aware. He simply wasn't trained to do it or trained in escalation and simply left it, having already disturbed everyone at 10pm on a Sunday night which is ultimately managements fault for not making sure staff understood what to do in emergency situations. Faulty alarm then predictably woke everybody up at 2am which i told the member of staff the first time we didn’t want to be woken up again, then at half 2 and then it went off again a few times when the staff member finally decided to get the manager out of bed, which should have happened when the issue first appeared on Sunday morning or at the very least sorted at 10pm when it went off at 10pm Sunday evening. To top it off it went off again Monday morning at 11am. The Manager was nice but full of the usual excuses which i just were not buying, she said it could have been handled better but it was handled at all, it was amateur at roomzzz York. Its likely still faulty as i type this due to the alarm company clearly not being called out. She said there was not a lot that could be done because it’s the fire alarm which is just…a lie, the zone or faulty sensor should have been isolated on the system. Again lack of knowledge on what to do from management. To top it off we had someone hammering away on Monday morning at 11 am, clearly nobody communicates who is in what rooms. Other than that the stay was standard though not to the quality we had when we visited the Chester roomzzz aparthotel. TV was faulty when we booked in which was a minor inconvenience but nothing compared to having screeching faulty fire alarms shocking you out of bed. Awful experience and we rushed home due to been knackered because my partner couldn’t get back to sleep, rather than enjoying the day out in York.

York is a small place. This hotel feels like a local homestay with a small area. When I first arrived, I didn't think it was a good choice. But after checking in, I feel that this hotel is not simple. The first choice, I have been in the UK for 18 days, and there is only one hotel with a snack room. The snacks in the snack room are all you can eat! Children simply think this is heaven, there are ice cream, potato chips, candy, apple juice, etc. The whole hotel is made of wood, and the floor is of course wood. The place is small, but the cleanliness is very good, especially the bathroom is very clean. Then there are vinyl records in the room. If you are not satisfied with the songs on the records, you can replace them yourself downstairs. The TV in the room also has netfix and other apps. The location is also pretty good. York Church, you must be there within a 15-minute walk. If there is parking, remember to make an appoin**ent in advance. Otherwise, there is no parking space. You have to go to the public car park to park, but it’s not far away.

When we arrived there was no staff anywhere to be seen until someone from restaurant came and got someone, however when she did arrive she was very nice and helpful. I asked to be in a refurbished room and wasn’t, shower was broke and hanging off the hinges and squirts all over. The car parking is not good as there is only 6 spaces and it’s £10 per night. Food was nice however wasn’t fully well done like I asked but was still nice. Lovely man in restaurant and guy behind reception on nights took pictures for us and brought my bfs surprise bday cake out. Lovely night staff got us water after we arrived back after night out. Would like to thank the housekeeping staff for making the room lovely with all of the decorations I brought to decorate it with for my bfs bday.

I had a four night stay in a double room in this lovely city centre hotel. Check in was friendly and efficient and my room was spotlessly clean and well appointed. Refreshments and toiletries were of a good standard and housekeeping was great during my stay. I loved the robe and slippers! The buffet style breakfast was terrific - fresh, varied and tasty - with the ability to order extra/specific items. I used the bar once and liked the variety of beverages on offer and the service was good. The rail station is only a 10-15 minute walk away, with shopping and lots of restuarants only 10 mins walk away, and all the tourist sites within 10-20mins of the hotel. There is a busy conference centre next door and there was building work going on, but this didn't affect my sleep quality - the beds are amazing!

Beautiful, comfortable and beautiful. Across the road is a huge lawn! The room was a bit small but reasonably clean. The surrounding environment is great. The English breakfast was also delicious, I ate it for 5 days in a row. The dinner is also good, the waiters are nice, Service is nice. Many elderly people come here. The water quality is a few blocks behind London.

The hotel's exterior, public areas are very good, breakfast is very good, and it is close to the exhibition hall. Because the new carpet was changed, the smell was very uncomfortable. After changing the room, I also changed a room with a lower level, above. And the attitude is very unfriendly, although Ctrip customer service has been in contact, but the hotel has not dealt with.

It's just that the facilities are too old. It would be better if the facilities can be improved. The room is relatively large. For me, the location is more convenient. There is no air-conditioning and there is a garden. I feel that it should be refurbished to be worthy of the price.

I originally wanted to order Rudding Park, but I have seen the room type and I have been entangled for a long time. I chose West Park and then I was alone in the RP official website. The same 4 stars difference is too much. The suite is very low cost and the restaurant that WP comes with is very expensive. Brunch ate 30+ pounds
