4-Star Hotels in Gansu, China

The hotel is in a convenient location and is well-furnished and my room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast is very satisfactory. The front desk staff were helpful and polite; special thanks to Xiao Wang and Xiao Xie who very patiently helped me with my laundry and with getting the bus to Maiji Shan. 😊

As someone who frequently stays in hotels, I found the hardware facilities to be good, but the service fell short. My overall experience was not great. Here are a few points I found unsatisfactory: 1. The communication during check-in wasn't pleasant, though they did allow me to check in early. 2. The breakfast quality was decent, but there were too few seats in the restaurant. Having to walk around with my food, searching for and waiting for a table, is something I've rarely encountered. 3. I saw food delivery drivers going directly to guest rooms multiple times. Do they not need a key card to access floors? 4. The toiletries were in wall-mounted dispensers that required a lot of force to use, especially the conditioner. This was particularly difficult for me as I had an injury on my hand. 5. I had confirmed a late checkout until 3 PM via Trip.com. I understand the front desk might not have been aware, and a simple phone confirmation would have sufficed. However, I found their passive-aggressive tone about me not mentioning it proactively to be unprofessional. I won't list other minor issues. Personally, I don't expect hotel staff to be overly enthusiastic, but they shouldn't make guests feel uncomfortable. The 2-star service rating is specifically for the two ladies at the restaurant's front desk around 9:30 AM on the 20th. They were consistently warm and greeted guests throughout my stay, leaving a strong positive impression. On the positive side, the hotel facilities are new, the room layout is good, and the soundproofing is effective. It's located near a plaza or residential buildings, so it's not noisy. The hotel is also very close to Zhangye West Station, and with a parking lot, it's convenient for those traveling by car.

This was the second Mercure hotel on our trip, and overall, the facilities were quite good. **Facilities:** The hotel is well-equipped. The lobby is clean and bright. As expected from an Accor property, the decor style and design elements are largely consistent. What truly stood out was that on each floor's common area, right outside the elevator, there was a row of complimentary bottled water. This is quite rare in other hotels and very convenient for guests to grab. Breakfast is served on the 21st floor, offering a panoramic view and a great sense of openness. On another note, staying on the 14th floor, the water pressure was a bit low, and the shower felt like it didn't have enough flow. **Hygiene:** The room's cleanliness was generally acceptable, but I found a long hair stuck to a tile in the bathroom. It felt like the cleaning wasn't thorough, which was a bit off-putting. Also, there was a small tear on the bed linen. I'm not sure if it was an oversight, but ideally, it should have been replaced. **Service:** The hotel's front desk manager took my feedback very seriously. Afterwards, they even proactively called us to inform us that the issues had been rectified. This was truly excellent.

How should I put this? Maybe because it's a provincial capital, this hotel was the most expensive one on our trip to the Northwest. But honestly, the room was small – the kind where you can only open either the room door or the bathroom door at a time. And there was no light above the shower (just sharing the main bathroom ceiling light), so it was really dark. Although you need a key card to access the upper floors, someone still inexplicably knocked on our door (we later found out they had the wrong room). Getting around wasn't super convenient either; it's close to Zhengning Road Night Market, but you basically need a taxi to get to other attractions!

There are many dining options near the hotel. The front desk staff are friendly—they not only served us tea upon arrival but also helped take our luggage to the elevator entrance. The room is equipped with smart devices, and Xiaodu can help control the lights, curtains, TV, and even play music. Around 3:30 a.m., we were woken up by a fire alarm. All guests were evacuated to the street across from the hotel, where staff and firefighters could investigate the issue. The alarm was not lifted until about 5 a.m., allowing us to return to our rooms to sleep. When checking out in the morning, we learned that a drunk guest had shattered a fire alarm. The hotel gave us a full refund—a very responsible approach that deserves praise. The hotel should strictly prohibit guests from smoking in the hallways. Even though non-smoking rooms are requested, the smell of cigarette smoke drifts in from the corridor. I hope the hotel can improve this

The room was great and the hotel's location was good, with warm and attentive service. The only downside was that the breakfast selection was very limited and not tasty at all. Perhaps it's due to limited resources here or the taste just didn't suit me.

Stayed for a few days, did not clean the room for two consecutive days, do you have to talk to the front desk? Such a high-end hotel, the service can't keep up, speechless 😓 no wonder the score is so low

I've been to Zhangye for business many times, and this time I stayed at a new hotel. It looked great when I booked it, and I wasn't disappointed after checking in. The room even came with local yogurt and snacks. The bedding was brand new, and I have to praise them for providing body lotion and conditioner, which were very good. There are many restaurants downstairs, which was convenient since it was raining. The lobby manager even asked about my stay when I checked out, and the service attitude was excellent. Overall, it was a great experience!

Everything was amazing! But as someone who values cleanliness above everything this hotel have fantastic job in that area! I also like to mention that in the laundry room when you do the washing or drying, you’re able to scan a QR code and it will give you the waiting time on a WeChat mini program and it will also tell you when it’s finished. it will also tell you how many machines are free and how many are in use, which I think is such a small detail but so convenient for travellers. The hotel shares the same building with another hotel, but you don’t feel crowded at all. A small suggestion would be to recommend to the hotel that the breakfast have some halal options as there are many Muslims and Lanzhou. If you’re looking for an amazing hotel with an amazing view, I would highly recommend Intercity! ♥️

The hotel's location is excellent, very close to Ming-Qing Street, Zhenyuan Tower (currently under construction), Mutasi Temple, and Dafo Temple, all within walking distance. The accommodation is great—clean and comfortable. There's also a private parking lot. The service was excellent, and they even provided complimentary breakfast, which I really appreciated! Highly recommended! 👍🏾
