Great value for money, very satisfied overall. 1) Convenience store nearby 2) Ski rental shop nearby 3) Acceptable walking distance to the Shinkansen station 4) Daily room cleaning service 5) The owner is very kind and friendly 6) Laundry room and drying facilities for clothes and ski gear available 7) Would be even more perfect for ski enthusiasts if they had a car

The lady at the counter was so accommodating. Provided everything we needed and was happy to help in any other way. Spoke a little English but used google translate to help. We couldn't use the dining room for dinner, I think that had to be booked in advance. There was only one or two other places open in town at 7.30pm for dinner. So wasn't many options. The room had stains all over the floor, but otherwise the beds were clean, and comfortable being on the harder springy side, and the bathroom was very clean. The onsen was amazing. The room was a good size, and had extra toilets down the hall if we needed them. The Japanese breakfast that was provided was fantastic. We only stayed one night because we were walking the next day just near there otherwise would have stayed in a bigger town, because of the limited outside facilities. But for the price and it was convenient it was good. Would stay again if I had to, but otherwise would go for a bit nicer place.

Tabataya is a 100+ years family run rest house for skiing/snowboarding at myoko suginohara! The host only speaks Japanese but they are very warm and helpful nonetheless. Ski passes can be bought from them at a discount. I brought my own snowboard so I dont know about rentals. We used yamato transport to courier the boards to and fro the airport and tabataya. The host helped us with arranging the return courier to airport 😊. Although it was slightly pricey but there was value for what we paid. Meals are available at a fixed price of about 3500yen and the chef decides the menu! Although the bathrooms are shared, they are very very clean. Lastly, it is worth noting that the nearby Asakusa onsen ski resort will have more food options and night skiing compared to suginohara. It's my first time experiencing Japow and im glad Myoko is part of this experience 😊 (one of the longest and widest beginner runs)

If I had the opportunity, I would come here every year. Some places get better over time and Silver Otawa is one of them. Run for over 40 years, it is a joy to see 3 generations of the family working side by side to make guests stay here so welcoming. My son and I used it as our base for a week of skiing in the myokogen area. Every day we were ferried (complimentarily) to a different ski field. In addition to accommodation and transport, Silver Otawa also rented us ski equipment (so no need to go anywhere else for that!) and we also enjoyed breakfast and dinner there every day - all for a very reasonable price (their multi course dinner was just 2500 yen per person!). Accommodation was spotless clean and service warm, friendly and super professional. I would have no recommendation to recommend you stay at Silver Otawa. Amazing place and true value for money.

I came here during summer for Fuji Rock. In all honesty, it’s alright, the room is clean & the beds were comfortable, aircon works. Don’t expect much from the room, as there’s only 1 power socket in the room, so we had to share. It’s really just for sleeping. The shower is an open bathroom common in Japan & shared toilet situation, so just take note for travellers who aren’t comfortable for that kind of thing. But the good thing is that the shower area was clean, water is hot & great. Towels are provided although it’s a really small and thin one. There’s a free large area for parking near the place so that’s good. I’d think it would be great for winter as it’s right next to the gondola, but we didn’t experience that.

This was my first time staying here. The building doesn't seem to be new, but from the entrance you can feel the atmosphere and history of the building. The hallways are long and there are many banquet halls, so it seems like the building must have been bustling in the past. The tatami room was clean and I was able to stay comfortably, but the TV was small, which was a bit of a concern. I went to the recommended open-air rock bath in the morning, and the atmosphere was great, the water felt good, and my skin felt smooth after the bath all day. The breakfast area was also stylishly designed, and the variety of dishes and elaborate food was very delicious. The other person who went with me was very satisfied and said that he would like to stay here again next time. I stopped by on a business trip this time, and had a very pleasant time. Thank you very much.

The boss personally operates, very kind and proactively contact, providing our station pick-up service. And providing information about the surrounding restaurants. The hotel is about 500 meters from the central entrance of the Shida Maru Mountain Snow Resort and the location is excellent. Ground floor Snowboard and snowshoe drying room can be placed The 2nd floor is spacious and bright with a warm and lovely layout. Coffee and tea bags, water dispensers, hot water free access, very intimate. Breakfast is delicious. There is a microwave food vending machine in front of the canteen, and you can use the microwave oven in the canteen to heat it yourself. There is a sofa area next to the stairs on the 3rd floor and there are many comics. Ground floor There are two private bathrooms. This stay is only for the two of us. The boss said that we were the first group of guests he received in this snow season. We are so lucky. Reminder: about 700 meters from the supermarket. You can buy supplies at Yuezuze Station and then go to the hotel.

Keiko was a lovely host. She was super friendly and welcoming to the area. She was available for any questions we had and was also able to provide a freshly cooked breakfast/dinner at a very small cost. There was free parking behind the accommodation which was great as we had our own entry/exit after hours. The room was spacious, but while the heating wasn't very strong, the bedding was extremely warm and comfortable. Would be more than happy to stay here again any time we're in the area!

The house is a traditional Japanese building and looks rather like a museum than a hotel. Some facilities are run down and repairs are overdue. However the owner and his wife are very friendly and helpful, they even drove us to the ferry terminal, although we didn't ask for.

I really enjoyed my stay! The host was super friendly and made the whole experience even better. The place is about a 15-minute drive from the city center, so it’s not right in the middle of things, but the amazing view totally makes up for it. It’s such a nice spot to chill and take in the scenery. Plus, the WiFi was really fast, which was a big win for me. Would definitely stay here again!
