Hotel Royal Macao was a great choice, it was super clean and felt very comfortable throughout my stay. The check-in team was friendly and worked really fast. One thing to keep in mind is that they do require a 500 MOP pre-authorization as a security deposit when you arrive. I also loved that there’s a 7-Eleven just a few steps away, which was perfect for grabbing snacks. I’d definitely stay here again!
Let's start with the positives, then move on to the negatives.
**Pros:**
The viewing glass was incredibly clean, making for a very pleasant city view. The bathroom had a rain shower. Both the bathroom and bedding were spotlessly clean, and the toiletries provided were of good quality. The hotel itself is relatively new. Both the front desk and housekeeping staff were very polite and helpful. The bedside outlets were compatible with mainland China plugs, so no adapter was needed, and the room even provided a three-in-one charging cable.
**Location:**
The location is excellent, right next to the Grand Lisboa, Lisboa, and Wynn (the original Wynn, not Wynn Palace). However, because the roads are wide, even though they're all on the same roundabout, it still takes about ten minutes to walk across several roads. Families with elderly members might want to consider this. If you're looking for convenient dining options, it's probably better to book a hotel near St. Paul's Ruins; there are a few good ones there. If you're not planning on gambling, you can also book a city view room to enjoy these landmark buildings. Of course, after crossing the road, there's a large bus hub (as shown in the picture), which is a huge plus because you can get pretty much anywhere in Macau from there. The hotel also has shuttle buses to other hotels and major border crossings, and taxis are easy to find. Personally, I think staying in the old district is more convenient than Taipa for city walks; within 1-4 kilometers, you can explore many historical sites, small shops, and local eateries. Macau is small, so taxis are convenient everywhere; the starting fare is 25 MOP, and it cost 76 MOP from Qingmao Port to the hotel.
**Floors:**
The front desk is on the basement level, so there's a distinction between the 'Hotel Lobby' (L floor) and the 'Entrance Lobby' (G floor). Taxis and food deliveries drop off at the Entrance Lobby, G floor.
**Price:**
For your reference: I stayed on a weekday in April, in a city view fountain room, and it cost 600-700 RMB including tax.
**Cons:**
The room lacked a 'Do Not Disturb' sign or light. When I smelled smoke, neither the operator nor the in-room phone answered. The wardrobe doors were covered in grease stains and fingerprints from previous guests; housekeeping likely only did a basic clean and didn't notice these 'common' areas on the cabinet doors. The soundproofing is indeed very poor. Whenever someone walks by in the corridor or talks at a normal volume, it's very noisy in the room. When the cleaning staff on the floor above or in adjacent rooms cleaned, and their mops hit the walls, it caused significant disturbance in the room (as shown in the video recording); it felt like the walls were hollow. Surprisingly, the window's soundproofing was good; despite the busy roundabout below with cars constantly passing, I couldn't hear any noise from outside. My biggest complaint is that the hotel has failed to enforce its no-smoking policy. The elevator smelled like a KTV, and the corridors reeked of stale cigarette smoke, as if the carpets had been smoked in. Passing one room, three men walked out, and the smoke smell that wafted out was nauseating. The 11th floor is supposed to be a non-smoking floor, but I often smelled smoke in the corridor, and on one occasion, the smoke directly entered my room. I opened my door to complain to the staff, but although they were present, they seemed to ignore the situation. Later, I spoke to the lobby manager on duty, who also expressed helplessness, stating it was a matter of certain guests' behavior, and they could only check for smoke smell upon checkout and fine the guests who had already checked out. This simply doesn't solve the problem, so non-smoking, rule-abiding guests like us become the victims. When I went to the front desk to ask a question, I saw a male staff member treating another guest's inquiry with a very perfunctory attitude, not even looking up, which was quite rude, like a roadside shopkeeper dealing with someone asking for directions. Overall, despite claiming to be a five-star hotel, the management is quite disorganized.
Great value for money, close to Fisherman's Wharf and Sands, with free shuttle bus access.
The hotel has a vintage European charm, and check-in was smooth, check-out was quick.
Drawbacks:
Facilities are a bit old (opened in 1995).
Not in the city center.
Recommended for: budget travelers, photography enthusiasts, and families.
I forgot to pack my slippers, but when I opened the closet, I found two pairs waiting for me—exactly what I needed! It's rare to find hotels that offer such a thoughtful touch these days.
The bathroom is incredibly spacious, and there's even a TV built into the wall next to the bathtub. The view from the 15th floor is absolutely stunning; you can see the Ruins of St. Paul's in the distance.
Lunch at the MJ Cafe on the first floor is a steal—for just a few dozen bucks, you get soup, a main course, and coffee. The staff were so friendly, and the place had a nice buzz even on a weekday. I'll definitely be back!
I booked a King Room with an ocean view. The room was spacious, spotless, and well-maintained. The minibar items were complimentary, except for the premium bottled water and wine (though no wine was provided in the room). A deposit of MOP 1,000 was required at check-in, which was fully refunded upon checkout. The hotel also offered free shuttle buses to major hotels and key departure points across Macau. The concierge, Charles, was particularly helpful in advising us on the correct shuttle bus number to reach our intended destination.
I booked this Hong Kong and Macau trip for my parents. At 70 years old, I was a bit worried about them traveling alone, but the Hong Kong and Macau tour felt quite reliable. The flight from Beijing was quick, and I did a lot of research beforehand. The hotel staff were incredibly warm and helpful. The entire trip was perfect; they saw everything they wanted to see. 11 days in Hong Kong and Macau was more than enough!
Overall clean, and the bed was super comfy ✌🏻. The pillows were also really comfortable. You can store your luggage there, and it's within walking distance to the attractions. They were doing some renovations while I was there, so there was a bit of noise, but it didn't affect my sleep at night 😉.
Staying at the Rio Hotel in Macau was an absolutely fantastic experience! The French palace-style decor is incredibly elegant, with gilded carvings and a giant crystal chandelier in the lobby that's perfect for photos.
The location is superb, right in the heart of the NAPE district. It's a short walk to the Lotus Square and the Grand Prix Museum, and there's a bus stop right outside, making it super convenient to get to Taipa and the Border Gate.
The rooms have just been renovated and are spacious, clean, and offer amazing natural light. The bedding is so soft, I slept soundly all night. The facilities are excellent, including a heated pool, gym, and the fantastic Grand Orbit buffet, which offers Chinese, Western, and Japanese cuisine – even locals love it here.
The service is incredibly thoughtful, with a 24-hour front desk and free luggage storage. The staff are warm and professional. It offers incredible value for money; for the same price, the comfort level is definitely top-notch. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Macau!
I absolutely loved this hotel and highly recommend it to everyone! Here's why: 1. The location is superb, right by Senado Square, and on the other side is Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro. It's only about a 10-minute walk to Grand Lisboa. 2. There are plenty of dining, entertainment, and shopping options nearby, and a bus stop is just a minute away. 3. As expected from Macau's first skyscraper hotel built in 1928, you get panoramic views of the entire Macau Peninsula from its rooftop terrace. The hotel was renovated and reopened in 2024, so it's incredibly clean, comfortable, and hygienic, yet it still retains its classic and elegant room style. It's especially well-suited for older guests who appreciate a sense of history. Definitely recommend it to my friends!
My stay at the Yi Fu Hotel in Macau far exceeded my expectations; it's definitely my top choice for this price range! The hotel's location is fantastic – within walking distance of popular attractions like the Ruins of St. Paul's and Senado Square. There are plenty of restaurants, supermarkets, and souvenir shops nearby, making it incredibly convenient. Check-in was very efficient, and the front desk staff were warm and polite. They patiently explained sightseeing routes, transportation options, and local dining recommendations, and even offered luggage storage, which was very friendly to tourists. The room had excellent natural light and ventilation, and the bedding was soft and comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. The bathroom was spotless, with a well-designed wet/dry separation. Although the room wasn't exceptionally large, the layout was practical, making good use of the space. Overall, it offers excellent value for money, with attentive service, a prime location, and a clean, quiet environment. It’s perfect for both leisure and short trips. I've already recommended it to friends and will definitely choose Yi Fu Hotel again on my next visit to Macau. I truly recommend it to every traveler coming to Macau!

LLengyu55After booking, I tried to contact the hotel multiple times without success; no one responded to my requests. Finally, Ctrip helped me communicate with the hotel the day before our trip. Initially, I was concerned about renovation smells in the Bond Tower and asked to be moved to the Banyan Tower. Ctrip informed me that as of April 2026, only the Bond Tower was open, which I accepted. Then, I requested to switch our king room to a twin room, and the hotel said it would cost an additional 90+ RMB, which I also agreed to. Many online reviews mention free room upgrades, but honestly, don't expect any of that anymore.
I had also mentioned it was our 10th wedding anniversary, and while they didn't upgrade our room, they did give us a small cake. However, it was clearly an oversight as it said 'Happy Birthday' – very perfunctory. Furthermore, during check-in, halfway through the process, a South Asian supervisor-like staff member suddenly came over and, with a disdainful look, told us we needed to pay extra. I was thinking, hadn't Ctrip already clarified this, and hadn't we agreed to pay? Why did she act as if we were unwilling to pay and deserved her contempt? This was the first time I'd ever had such an uncomfortable check-in experience in Macau.
The hotel's facilities and design are undeniably exquisite and beautiful. Although the room was small, the Bond Tower didn't have the strong renovation smell that some online reviews mentioned, which was a relief. The hotel also provided Eiffel Tower tickets, which was a pleasant surprise.
After returning to the room in the evening, I noticed there was no turndown service provided, nor was the room tidied up a second time. The service was a bit lacking. Also, there were no size options for children's bathrobes; my 130cm, 80-catty (approx. 40kg) son couldn't wear theirs. The service staff and front desk employees had poor English proficiency.
The only thing that truly impressed me was the heated swimming pool. Located on the 3rd floor, it offered great views, with comfortable loungers, lemon water, and towels readily available by the pool. The water temperature was a very comfortable 36 degrees Celsius, making it suitable for swimming even in winter, which was excellent.
Overall, you can stay at this hotel, but don't have high expectations for the service.
GGuest UserThe room size was just right, clean and hygienic, and the L'Occitane toiletries made it feel very luxurious. The only downside is the location, which is a bit out of the way. However, the price was good, so it's definitely worth recommending.
PPina ColadadaThe hotel is conveniently located right next to a bus stop, and getting a taxi from the entrance is also a breeze. Downstairs, there's a restaurant called Yang Zhi Jin Lao (currently under renovation, but another branch offering takeout is just 500 meters away), as well as Tang Chao Sheng Shi and a tea restaurant. A pharmacy and bank are also nearby. It's a short trip to Rua do Cunha (Taipa Houses-Museum), just three bus stops away with frequent services.
The hotel staff are incredibly friendly and helpful; you can even get complimentary bottled water. The room was surprisingly spacious, even larger than a 4-star hotel I previously stayed at on the peninsula. A special shout-out to the strong, kind uncle at the front desk! On our check-out day, we were waiting for our ride with lots of luggage, and he proactively helped us hail a taxi and load our bags. It was a truly heartwarming gesture. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Macau!
GGuest UserIncredibly good value for the location. Conveniently located directly across from the galaxy ******. Delicious dining options and also near the old town. Staff is friendly and helpful. Great view out my ninth floor window.
GGuest UserThe lady who handled our check-in was incredibly meticulous and patient, and the bedding in the room was exceptionally comfortable – those were the two best things. I was traveling with my mother, and they happily switched us from a king room to a twin room, which we appreciated. The area around the hotel is very picturesque for photos. For shopping, it's not as extensive as the Londoner. We went primarily for the Eiffel Tower and booked a lunch set menu at La Chine. After our meal, we were able to use our receipt to get free access to the top observation deck of the Eiffel Tower, which was a lovely bonus and fulfilled a little wish of ours!
LLvlailvquThe facilities are a bit old, but the location is great. After clearing customs, I just followed the navigation and walked there. The room isn't big, but it has all the amenities, which is really good. To experience Macanese culture, I even went for dim sum early in the morning.
GGuest UserCheck-in took way too long. When I booked, Trip.com showed that Grand Lisboa Palace offers 3 PM check-in. We arrived at the hotel at 2:40 PM, planning to shower and rest a bit before heading out in the evening. However, we were told our room wasn't ready and we'd have to wait an hour and a half. So, we walked around the mall and garden. At 4:30 PM, we checked again, and they said it still wasn't ready, another 30 minutes. We were getting sleepy from all the walking, and finally checked in at 5:30 PM. That's a solid two and a half hour delay. After complaining online, Grand Lisboa Palace only offered a small fruit platter as an apology, and nothing else. As for the hardware, I found the bed a bit too soft, which gave me a backache. The soundproofing in the room was mediocre; I could clearly hear people talking in the hallway. The shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom were bolted down, as if they were afraid guests would take them. Service-wise, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing either – just average.
YYuhanxiaojiejieFacilities: The hotel is very new, both the software and hardware are up to par, meeting the star rating standards. Hygiene: I absolutely trust the hygiene in Macau, no issues there. Environment: The environment is great, smells lovely, thumbs up. Service: In terms of service, the only thing is that check-in at the lobby was a bit slow, even though it wasn't peak season. Hope they can improve on that, but the service itself was otherwise flawless.
JJayJay1I booked a King Room with an ocean view. The room was spacious, spotless, and well-maintained. The minibar items were complimentary, except for the premium bottled water and wine (though no wine was provided in the room). The concierge, Charles, was particularly helpful in advising us on the correct shuttle bus number to reach our intended destination.
GGuest UserThe room was a 'Eiffel Tower View' room, perfect for watching the Tower's light show at night. It was very clean and looked exactly like the pictures. Getting here from Hengqin Port was easy; just take the light rail, and it's a short walk through the mall. There's a shuttle bus to City of Dreams, and it's convenient to walk around the area too. Downstairs, you'll find plenty of dining, shopping, and entertainment options for kids. There's even the popular Don Quijote supermarket nearby!
