Everything about this place is wonderful except the beach. It's better to go to Una. Jungle Beach is small and a bit dirty. If you just want peace and quiet and a pool, this is ideal.

We stayed at this hotel for one night. While the property is quite old and the décor and furnishings are noticeably dated, the room was impeccably clean. I was able to walk barefoot in the room without any discomfort, which reflects the hotel’s strong cleanliness standards.
The location is one of the hotel’s highlights, situated beautifully along Hikkaduwa Beach with plenty of beach chairs and sunbeds available for guests. Breakfast and dinner were satisfactory, though not particularly outstanding.
The service was very good, with warm, friendly, and attentive hospitality, which is consistent with the high standard of service generally found in Sri Lanka. The hotel was also very kind in allowing our driver to stay as well, which was a thoughtful and generous gesture. Overall, it was a pleasant beachfront stay with excellent cleanliness and service, despite the aging facilities.
I'm so glad I booked this hotel; for $45 a night, we practically got a European four-star. Yes, there's some road noise, but by the third day we'd gotten used to it. We stayed in room 309, which we upgraded from 204, and cars will practically drive past your windows. If you're a light sleeper, be sure to bring earplugs. Across the street, there's a beautiful lounge area; we spent a couple of evenings watching the sunset there. 😍 The room has all the amenities, even a TV. When the hotel is busy, the buffet is excellent.
I recommend this hotel if you value value for money.
Our room was conveniently located right by the pool entrance, making swimming incredibly easy! It faced the ocean, but the waves were too rough for swimming, so we could only enjoy walks along the beach. As it was the weekend, the hotel had children's activities and evening shows. The buffet was very generous, and the desserts were delicious. A big thank you to Jayaru who checked us in; they discovered it was my birthday the next day and surprised me with a birthday cake at breakfast.
From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by wonderfully friendly staff at the reception desk, and our positive impression continued when we saw our room. It was incredibly spacious and spotlessly clean and a perfect space to relax in.
Unfortunately, our enthusiasm dipped when we looked out the window. We had eagerly anticipated the sea view we booked, but found ourselves on the first floor looking directly onto the main path to the restaurant. The lack of both a view and privacy was a real disappointment.
The challenges were compounded by a local festival taking place during our stay. This rendered the beach unusable due to the sheer volume of people. Worse, the road closures made leaving the hotel a logistical headache, leaving us feeling a bit trapped. A final frustration was discovering there were no shops nearby and no convenience store in the hotel itself, so be sure to pack everything you might need.
In summary, while we can't fault the hotel on its cleanliness or the friendliness of its staff, the experience was significantly hampered by the room mix-up and the festival chaos. It wasn’t a bad stay, but it was far from the relaxing getaway we had planned.
The location is a bit remote, especially the entrance to the hotel is very small and has no lights. But it is OK to enter the hotel, the lobby is very high and there is a swimming pool. The room facilities are OK, the service is average, and many operations are outsourced. It feels like a hotel built by a local tycoon, and the hotel management level is average. The food is average, not very delicious, and the overall cost performance is not high.
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, we were quickly checked in and greeted with a welcome drink. The reception staff were very friendly, but the rest of the hotel staff were very strange (noisy, shouting, arguing with each other).
Our room was clean and tidy, the room had a large balcony, and
a large refrigerator. The water pressure in the shower was very good. The location of the hotel is also great (across the street from the beach, 5 minutes walk to the grocery store) Stay away from Tuk Tuk Mafia
Absolutely loved this hotel! The natural environment here is fantastic. It's just a 10-15 minute drive from Tissa Lake. I arrived in the morning to the peaceful sounds of crickets and frogs. It was also a full moon that night, which made the scenery even more stunning. The swimming pool is impressively large too. I stayed on the ground floor, which meant I could step right out onto the lawn from my room.
The hotel offers great value for money; the prices are reasonable and the rooms are quite spacious. It's noticeably cheaper than hotels situated closer to Yala National Park.
I highly recommend booking the breakfast and dinner package. There aren't many other dining options nearby, and more importantly, the buffet is absolutely delicious!!! They offer a great variety of Western dishes, incredibly sweet fruits, and even sushi, making it very suitable for the Chinese palate.
For our morning safari, we requested a packed meal from the hotel. It was incredibly generous, including water, various drinks, juice, sandwiches, and cake – truly more than we could finish! Upon our return, breakfast was still ongoing. I explained to a staff member that I was feeling quite hot and asked if I could get a drink. She was very accommodating, assuring me it was absolutely fine, but did clarify that since we had taken a packed breakfast, we wouldn't be able to have another full meal in the dining area.
A very high-quality hotel. The student interns provide excellent, lively service. They arranged everything for us, from snorkeling to a safari tour. It's also within walking distance to the beach, and there are many restaurants nearby. We will definitely come back here again.

Great
I had a pleasant stay at this hotel, it was an amazing experience. Beautiful view. The rooms were super comfortable.
There was hot water and toiletries, which is a marked upgrade from some of the other places in Sri Lanka. The bed was very comfortable & they had adequate towels, which was also not common in many places where I have stayed in Sri Lanka. The food was relatively unremarkable, advertising basil & rosemary ice cream, when in reality, it was just vanilla ice cream with dried herbs sprinkled on top. Maybe stick with the Sri Lankan country dishes. An easy walk to a quiet beach, wild surroundings but also had a TV with working cable channels. The bungalow was elegantly furnished with small animals right outside your door.
the hotel is a wonderful of modern architecture and nature, you can lie comfortably on your bed while watching the monkeys climb down your balcony. If you are afraid of wild animals, don’t book a ground floor pool suite, rather take a room upstairs.
Service was great. Staff were helpful and friendly. As it was low season, staff were attentive. Starry night at the beach which was peaceful and beautiful. Closes at 6pm but we still ventured out for the stars. Pool is long and nice if you want to swim laps. The dining menu has good variety and food was good. What we did not like was the additional taxes on top of the VAT and service tax. Balloons the total bill on top of the already more expensive menu compared to other 5stars hotel we visited. So need to add another 33% on top of the more expensive prices on the menu.
We booked this at the last minute due to a change of plans and so just went by the previous reviews but we are so glad we did! It’s a small hotel but with lovely large rooms with private pools. We loved the sunset walk to the beautiful wild beach and our trip to Yala. We didn’t have any problems with wildlife in the shower and loved the feeling of being in such a natural environment. The real selling point of the hotel however is their staff and every one of them went out of their way to help us have a great stay. Thanks again!
Wild Coast Tented Lodge - Relais & Châteaux is located near Yala National Park in Sri Lanka. It is close to the national park boundary and within walking distance of the beautiful coastline. It is a great choice for wildlife viewing and getting close to nature. The hotel is famous for its unique tent-style suite design. These Cocoon Suites are very comfortable and creative. During the stay, the hotel also thoughtfully provides free postcards to write to friends and family. The wildlife tour of Yala National Park is also included in the room rate. The guide is very professional. In short, Yala National Park is full of peace, peacocks can be seen everywhere, from hummingbirds to eagles, from leopards to elephants, every sighting is full of surprises. The environment inside the hotel is also full of vitality, monkeys and lizards can be seen everywhere, and one day I even saw elephants walking in the distance on the beach. I really enjoyed it all. The service of the hotel is impressive, and every staff member is friendly and helpful. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all included. Although the freshness of the ingredients cannot be compared with that of ordinary Relais & Chateaux hotels due to its location in the wilderness, the dining experience is still satisfactory in this unique environment.
Wonderful hotel with great staff speaking English and beautiful environment. It doesn’t have beach access, so there’re tuk tuks by the gate that can take you to your destination. Delicious breakfasts and nice views. You can also meet different animals on the territory of the hotel. I’m totally satisfied with my experience of staying here and can recommend this hotel to others 👍
I booked this hotel as a treat for my friend, and the experience was great. My friend said everything was very good – the room was clean, the staff were friendly, and the stay was comfortable. Thank you for the good service!
Best hotel I stayed at in Sri Lanka. Room was huge, clean and stylish. Plunge pool = perfect to relax. Room dining food was way above average. Super friendly staff. Would 100% book again.
