The rooms are very tastefully decorated in keeping with the name (crown) and concept (romance) of the hotel, but not with the charm of days gone by, but modern. "We had booked a apartment, which was a little far from the hotel than expected, but fortunately we could find it in the dark. The apartment was very warm (25+ degrees) when we entered, but in each room there was a thermostat so this was fine to regulate. The apartment itself is spacious and clean. The shower and bed was fine. The kiss was a little soft, but I always take it from home. There were some towels, but for 5 dagen/4 nights we would have liked to have clean towels once. Breakfast was nice and there was a huge choice. The cappuccino is really very good! The location found a little far from the paths so we had to pick up the car. All with a pleasant experience and affordable."

"Dear Sir/Madam, We made a booking via *********** at this hotel for the period from February 14 to February 18, 2026, for my daughter's 7th birthday. However, unfortunately, due to an accident, I suffered a severe herniated disc in my back, which forced me to cancel this reservation. Through the BOOKING app, I can cancel this 'entire booking' for free. But unfortunately, they are only refunding me 10% of the total amount. This is despite the fact that I was more than 28 days before arrival, and even though it was clearly stated that cancellation was free. We contacted ***********, and they did nothing. We contacted Der Schöne Asten, and they showed no understanding whatsoever. This is a serious breach of misleading information and communication!! To anyone I can recommend, do not book at this hotel. They are first-class scammers."

"Our stay at the hotel Astenturm did not meet our expectations. Two days before arrival we received a message that check-in at the Dorint Hotel in Winterberg was made. Hotel is about 4 km from the Astenturm. At the arrival at the Astenturm there was no staff member who was powerful in the German language. On the question of the park card it was just called it to stop. The way to the room was described only with rooms there. Room was not cleaned every day so there were no fresh towels. Furthermore, the ties of the predecessor were still in the bathroom waste shop. Reclamation at the reception was not understood due to lack of German knowledge. I called it colleagues. Today's departure day there was no breakfast as it's rest day. Therefore, we saved the lacking breakfast. On the other days, breakfast was a conception. 2 years ago we were enthusiastic with hotel and breakfast. The choice of the so-called breakfast buffet corresponded to a 1 star hotel. For the missed breakfast we ask for a refund of €18"

"Really beautiful hotel, and a lovely location. The breakfast and dinner buffets were delicious and wide selection of choices. Well presented and kept well stocked. Rooms were comfortable and clean, lovely fluffy robes! Really enjoyed the saunas as well, just what was needed after an active day! Location is fabulous for mountain biking, close to several decent downhill parks. Staff at the hotel were the best, friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Baris in particular went above and beyond, we had a biking injury and he helped us with the hospital visit due to language barrier and made sure we had all we needed after the accident - thank you, Baris! Hopefully we will be back again soon for more biking fun! And to try the new cocktails!"

"Three stars... where do they come from? We were accommodated in building 3 and had two double rooms. The rooms were really run-down, with stained carpeting and completely rusted soap dispensers in the bathroom. There was a musty smell in the rooms, and no blinds on the windows. If you were lucky, the TV worked, and the internet was only partially functional. Breakfast: there was what you needed. Everything was very bland and unattractively presented; the fruit salad looked like it was about to ferment. The coffee tasted awful—it was pre-brewed and sitting in a large container for self-service! If you want something from reception after 5:30 p.m., it's a scavenger hunt. At reception, there's a sign saying "please go to the bar," and at the bar, there's a sign saying "please go to the restaurant." Finally, once you get there, nobody seems to feel responsible for the problem—if the staff even understand what you want. The language barrier was significant. During the day, the reception staff were very friendly. The only thing that matches the website is the spa area, which was very nice and clean. However, charging for bathrobes (€6.50 each) and towels (€3.50 each) for the sauna is unacceptable in a spa hotel. It's a real shame, as the website shows completely different facilities. They may exist, but as a hotel employee told me, only a very small number of them. All in all, I wouldn't visit this hotel again or recommend it—especially not at that price."

"Beautiful location, very courteous, friendly staff. The hotel has been renovated, but in some places the cleaning is not good enough. The rooms are modern and functional, only the lighting has been skimped on. Unfortunately, room service cannot count the towels; despite asking several times, we only had 3 towels for 4 people. Housekeeping also left the door open once. Toilet paper was only refilled when asked. Glasses were not cleared away. Sleeping in front of the garbage press also has its appeal, depending on the direction of the wind. Furthermore, we were not always able to log into the WiFi, a problem that other guests also had. At reception we were referred to the hotel manager (see below). The wellness area is nice, but you get the impression that the craftsmen had stopped at 80%. The entrance door to the swimming pool is broken, the hydrojet in the sauna area is broken, the shower gel holders are broken. However, the staff in the restaurant can definitely be mentioned positively. Despite the large crowds and a lot of frustration (because it was fully booked), the staff were always friendly and accommodating. Breakfast and dinner were always delicious and plentiful. We traveled with a dog and he was also welcome everywhere. The actual restaurant is dog-free (which is perfectly fine, not everyone wants a dog at the next table). So we sat in the bar area. Unfortunately with a large travel group of 12 people (6 adults and 6 children, each with a Switch or iPad at room volume). The hotel manager looks after his VIP guests at this table, but couldn't even say good evening to the others at the next table. After two very exhausting evenings, the restaurant manager was able to move us to another table at a distance - thank you again for this and also for the courteous service at our table. After paying on departure, we were wished a safe journey, no questions asked about our satisfaction - a shame. If the restaurant team hadn't been so convincing and attentive, it would have been a very unsatisfactory stay."
