"The most stunning place, exquisitely presented and a feast for the eyes and the soul, aesthetically so much beauty in each room and in each piece of furniture, picture, cushion, wall colour, book, nothing is superfluous and everything is placed with such care and harmony. The owners Claire and Aurelius (and Julian) have really created something truly special at The Green. The attention to detail of our welcome and our well being while staying was outstanding, and articulated with ease and care. Aurelius made gluten free scones for our arrival, a lit fire in the lounge welcomed us, and we had the freedom of the entire house and gardens which are so very beautiful. The wildlife that visits the gardens is wonderful, a hare came by, a sparrow hawk and plenty of other beautiful birds too. Our room was just stunning, we chose The Mulberry room and will return to try the other rooms too, without any doubt that they will all deliver to the same high standard of excellence with their own personality. We slept so well, all the linens are high thread count and luxurious, a choice of natural or man made fibres as your preference... heaven. Breakfast was stunning and felt so relaxed, a full English breakfast (gluten free) with lots of options alongside, we felt spoilt and so well looked after. We will be back to stay without any doubt and highly recommend a stay, you will LOVE it and Claire and Aurelius too, what wonderful hosts. Thank you!"

The Moonraker Hotel ★★★

"Our stay at this hotel left us feeling a bit underwhelmed. While I wouldn't go so far as to say avoid it entirely, I can't recommend it or see myself returning. The room, advertised as having a king-size bed, disappointingly turned out to be a double. Despite the hotel's emphasis on green choices, the room was unbearably warm upon arrival. We had to open both the windows and the door just to cool it down. This lack of basic comfort seemed counterintuitive to their eco-conscious branding. Furthermore, small but crucial amenities were absent, such as a hairdryer, and some lights weren't working. The absence of an in-room phone meant there was no easy way to request these missing items, adding to the overall inconvenience. The breakfast experience was equally disappointing. The so-called buffet consisted of a small, albeit pleasant, continental breakfast. However, being asked immediately upon arrival if we'd like to pay an additional £10 for a cooked breakfast made the setup feel misleading. At £14.50, the continental breakfast alone did not feel like good value.  The restaurant also had a notice about a £2.50 charge for menu amendments. While I understand the principle of upcharges, this particular policy felt excessive and off-putting. These issues were compounded by a lack of personal touches that form the foundation of good customer service. No one asked at checkout or during breakfast how our stay had been, a small but impactful gesture that could have mitigated some of our disappointments. In hindsight, I feel I overpaid by about 20-30% compared to the value I received. Knowing what I do now, I likely wouldn't have chosen this hotel for our stay."

Lots of creaky noises in the room and hotel room like a maze with lots of entry /exit restrictions makes it an average stay inspite of the nice swimming pool and gym.
