Located on the World Heritage Site of Mount Koya, this is both a temple lodging and the family temple for the entire Tokugawa clan. Memorial services are held for the successive generations of Tokugawa generals and the three branch families and guests can pay homage at the Buddhist mortuary tablet belonging to the Tokugawa family. While the temple has a long history, the temple lodging was renewed in December 2015. And, in keeping with the times, the lodging provides wheelchair accessibility.- This facility is a temple lodging. *Temple lodgings were originally accommodation facilities for Buddhist priests and practitioners, but they now also accept regular tourists. A Buddhist temple is also located on site, so both staff and priests will offer hospitality to guests. - Guests that reserve a plan that includes meals at this temple lodging can enjoy Buddhist vegetarian cuisine. *Buddhist vegetarian cuisine follows Buddhist precepts and is prepared with vegetables, beans, and other plant derived ingredients. - When staying at this temple lodging, guests can experience the following. - Sutra Transcription: Transcribe Buddhist sutras. - Ajikan Meditation: Meditate while looking at the Sanskrit symbol for “A”. - Visit to Tokugawa Shoguns’ Buddhist Mortuary Tablet: Visit the Buddhist mortuary tablet belonging to the successive shoguns from the Tokugawa Clan, the family line that ruled Japan during the Edo period (1603-1868). A Buddhist mortuary tablet is a wooden tablet that is recorded with the names of the deceased. In Buddhism, mortuary tablets are seen as the same as the deceased, and are cherished as such. "A beautiful hotel. Very clean, feels renovated. This is the most delicious vegetarian breakfast and dinner! Morning at 6:30 a service, after which a small tour of the temple at which the hotel is located. Note that the hotel closes at 21:00. That is, it is impossible to get to the night on Okunoin."

"The temple boasts a beautiful environment and a convenient location, within a 1-kilometer walk of both Okunoin and Kongōbuji Temples. We traveled over a hundred kilometers from the seaside to reach the temple, arriving just as the afternoon sun shone brightly after a snowfall. The sounds of chanting and bells could be faintly heard, a scene remarkably similar to the lines from Wang Xin's poem: ”Deep in the mountains, the temple is far away; the clouds are cold, the bell is faint; I rejoice in the lamp among the bamboo, the house among the plum blossoms, and the spring among the rocks.”"

༺࿄ Sydney ࿈࿆࿆༻It is said to be the imperial residence of Emperor Toba and Empress. It has a beautiful environment and the hardware is new and clean. The location is good, in the middle, you can walk to major attractions in ten minutes. There is a short uphill walk to get off the bus. I booked a Japanese-style room with a bathroom. I stayed in a room on the second floor. There was a small entrance hall, a sink, and a small bathroom at the entrance. It's very cold in Mount Koya in winter. With the air conditioner and heating on, the room is very warm. The breakfast and dinner of Shojin cuisine are very sumptuous. In the morning class, the master will lead the chanting of sutras and incense, as well as Azi Temple meditation. If you want to participate in the fire offering, you need to make reservations at other temples. There are dedicated people who come to the room to take meals and morning classes, and the service is very considerate. I’ll come back next time during the red leaf season.
