GGuest UserMy husband and I have travelled the world staying in every type of accommodation imaginable- and never have we experienced such warm, generous hospitality, such utterly beautiful food or such breathtakingly stunning surroundings! Mr and Mrs Xavier Joseph could not have made us more welcome into their beautiful home and their friendly, quiet village, helping us arrange trips and excursions, answering our ***y questions about local life and plying us with beautiful, authentic Keralan cuisine (as spicy as we wanted it!) day and night- as well as fresh water, tea and coffee and snacks. I actually cried when we had to leave this place! The surroundings are idyllic. During the course of our stay we took four very long walks all around the surrounding area (rice fields, canals and waterways, little streets and communities) and in that whole time did not see one single other tourist- we were absolutely able to experience 'real' rural Backwaters life and it was absolutely magical. If you want peace and quiet, beautiful scenery, the warmest of welcomes and the greatest food you will ever taste then this is the place for you! From the bottom of our hearts, heartfelt thanks to Mr and Mrs Xavier Joseph from my husband and I for giving us an experience we will NEVER, ever forget:) Carly and Simon Fee, United Kingdom

GGuest UserThis was undoubtedly the best day/night spent in kerala. One of the best houseboats in the backwater. Staying at kumarakom and availing aqua jumbo was a super decision as not too many boats start from there and the cruise is excellent with land views. The house boat was spacious, each bedroom was nicely done up and the chef, ravi made food better than a hotel cook. Made a trip to the fish market, took a canal cruise and the chef made some delicious snacks with the fresh catch. I would definitely recommend travellers to try the aqua group.

GGuest UserWe had two nights stay at picturesque ILLKKALAM LAKESIDE COTTAGE right on the banks of the lake and were. pleasantly surprised as the nature unfolded before us.
Good location with good facilities and access to all amenities surrounded by organic farm , nature at its best.
Good service through out and personalised care by friendly staff.
Freshly cooked homemade tasty food served to your room and relax in front of the room looking over the lake with boats passing by and beautiful sunset views.
The best part was the relaxed private sunset boat ride on the lake for two of us with stunning views starting right in front of our cottage.
Susan Salin and team have done a wonderful job in making avail of this wonderful property for fortunate few like us.
Special thanks to Asha and Arjun who were always helpful and giving us information of local tours and cultures. Not to forget those amazing cooks who cooked meals as per our taste
We will definitely going to return and recommend to our friends to visit ILLKKALAM LAKESIDE COTTAGES

GGuest UserReached the hotel at 8 40 pm in the night. Security did not allow parking inspite of space available in the front part of the parking area citing owners would object. I had to park in slushy ground nearby out of the compound inspite of having luggage to offload. Priority to parking is for people who come to the bar nearby hotel entrance second day of stay, i could see cars in the front of hotel parked and realized that what the security had told the previous day was not correct. Bathroom stinky when entered. Support staff were good though. Bar close to the entrance and in the second floor. Smell of alcohol all over.
