This place was a dream. Jia & Tong are lovely people with good taste. Travelling on my own and having little idea of what to do in the area (due to lacking Chinese language skills), Jia was super helpful with recommendations and arrangements. I only had one day but he managed to make arrangements in such a way that I saw another beautiful old Dong village that wasn’t too touristy as well as the stunning rice-field sunset. I felt like I could even just spend the day watching the view from the balcony whilst drinking the amazing tea. But instead I had a great day and even rounded it off chatting in great company and trying some local drinks. The local people are creative, super friendly and some have a great sense of humour ;) I’ve hardly ever felt so taken care of, so safe, and with so much fun. All the amenities are high quality, the sheets felt like 100% cotton (which is very rare across China I found!) The designs are great using local materials. And yes, the bath is great too! I forgot to ask for local shopping recommendations, which I am sure they must have as they have some beautiful items in the rooms and in the social area. I very much hope to visit again soon. It feels like an area and a place full of people I would love to get to know better.

The soundproofing was excellent; we couldn't hear anyone talking outside the window. The owner was incredibly welcoming and thoughtful. He picked us up in his car when we arrived and drove us home when we left. On the morning of check-out, my child had a fever, and he drove us to the clinic to get treatment. He even extended our check-out time by an hour. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. I would definitely give it a perfect score if any of my friends wanted to go.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming guesthouse. Mr. Lu, the owner, is incredibly kind and welcoming. He truly goes above and beyond for his guests. He even arranged a driver for us to visit nearby villages and personally accompanied us during the visits, which made the experience even more special and authentic. He also picked us up from the train station and dropped us off there, which was very much appreciated. His wife is also very warm and friendly, and together they create a lovely, home like atmosphere. The breakfasts were delicious, and the location of the hotel is excellent, making it easy to explore the surrounding area. The only small downside was that we happened to visit during a period of construction, so our room had a view of the works. However, this was just bad timing and did not take away from our overall experience. As a memorable highlight, Lu played and sang a traditional Dong song for us, which was absolutely magical and something we will never forget. We highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a genuine and heartfelt stay.

The service was excellent, the landlady was very friendly and kind. For the price, the facilities and scenery were exceptional, making it very cost-effective. The landlady readily upgraded our room because of the view of the rice paddies from the window. However, there are many hidden costs in this scenic area. Although the owner provided pick-up from the train station, you still need to pay an additional 20 yuan to get to the high-speed rail station. Parking at the entrance costs 20 yuan, and the daily entrance fee is 80 yuan. If you want to visit the rice terraces, you need to pay for a sightseeing bus. Personally, I didn't find any good food inside the scenic area. In short, unless you have a strong fascination with the architecture of Guizhou's ethnic minorities, I wouldn't recommend coming here.

This stay at Shanyeli Resort Hotel was a fantastic experience and a great value. Location and Transportation It's not far from the high-speed rail station, and the hotel offers free shuttle service. Simply contacting the hotel in advance saves you the hassle of finding a car, which is incredibly convenient. Room Experience We stayed in a fully intelligent room. The lights, curtains, and air conditioning can all be controlled by voice or the control panel. It was easy to use and very comfortable. The room was immaculately clean, and the bed had the perfect firmness. It was quiet at night, and I slept soundly. Dining The owner's restaurant deserves a special mention! The dishes are all homely, but incredibly delicious, made with fresh ingredients, and generous portions. Service The front desk lady was very welcoming, quick to answer any questions, and very considerate. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. Whether it's a family trip or a gathering with friends, this place is perfect. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to the area!

To start with the good points, the service was indeed very good; the staff helped us carry our luggage upstairs. Books were also available for borrowing. The hotel's location was actually quite good; it wasn't on the main street, so it wasn't too noisy. It was also relatively close to the village entrance. There were two things I didn't like: First, the cleanliness: We were originally assigned a room with a mountain view (or something like that, not much of a view, since I haven't seen it, I don't know), but they upgraded us to a room with a river view. The tatami room had a strange pillar; to get to the other side, you had to step onto the bed or walk along the edge. Also, one of the bedside tables wasn't on the bedside table; we had to move it ourselves. Opening the drawers of both bedside tables, one had water left by the previous guest, and the other had a bag for clothes. The toilet paper roll we received had a section that was wet from the outside in. Second, the facilities: I really want to complain about the bathroom. The water heater was right above the sink, and it was leaking (probably why the toilet paper was wet). Water kept dripping, soaking the toothbrush and other skincare products next to it. There wasn't even a place to put clothes in the shower. The placement of the toilet seat is problematic. Usually, it's placed outwards, so you can wear a cover to keep warm. But this one is placed all the way inwards, meaning you have to wear eight covers on top. As soon as you sit down, your legs will be freezing cold.

I read the reviews and said it was very good. After coming here, I was not disappointed. A hotel with a very artistic feel and ethnic characteristics. Seeing that I had a big boy with me, the landlady upgraded us to a double room, loft, and tatami for free. The child was very happy to live upstairs. The proprietress is very nice. Entry and exit are prohibited in the village at 19 o'clock. We got off the high-speed train a little late and could not pick up the car. When we left, the village issued new regulations that did not allow us to pick up tourists. The proprietress found a car to take us off with her own money. She told us along the way to contact us at any time. , give the boss lady a thumbs up!

Cons: - stained towels and bed linen (I wouldn't care, but this hotel is 4 times more expensive than cheap hostels I usually stay in China, so I expect more) - I found a big spider the size of a hand in my room (but to be honest: I don't blame the owners for that because the spider could just come from the window, so it's not their fault) - the staff doesn't speak English Pros: - It is the cheapest hotel with license to give an accommodation for foreigners in Zhaoxing. - The receptionist came to my room immediately after my call in his free time and killed that spider I was talking about above. He is my hero! :) - Apart of stained towels and bed linen the room was cleaner than other rooms in other hostels I stayed in China. - The hotel has a good location just next to the town's gate. - I have got a bottle of water for free and all toiletries.

The hotel is in a quiet location close to the main street. The owner is warm and considerate. The wooden structure is very unique and the price is high. Recommended to stay

B&Bs are all on stilts, and the wooden houses are not well insulated, so I just randomly booked this one. If you have trouble sleeping, you can choose to stay in a higher room or live outside the Dong Village. We live on the fourth floor. As soon as we entered the door of the B&B, the grandma who embroidered the sachets said to me ”Here we come” and it made me feel very warm. The boss will also pick us up at the entrance of Dong Village and help us carry our luggage. The landlady will wash and lay out the sheets and help us carry our luggage upstairs. He also asked us to walk softly, be quiet and respect each other. The room has plenty of hot water and the air conditioner is new. The location in the middle of the village is very lively. I thought it would be noisy when there was a bar singing at night, but it was okay. It's just that the height of the toilet room is low, and the roof leaks a little when it rains all the time. Before I left, I told the boss lady and she apologized to me🤦‍♀️ At night I only heard the sound of rain and the sounds of cats and roosters. When I woke up in the morning and opened the window, I saw rain hitting the tiles, and a kitten came to say hello. It feels like a family house. We are very careful when staying in it and even help to clean it up when leaving. I casually booked a B&B for a hundred yuan, and it turned out to be the most cost-effective B&B I’ve ever stayed in in Guizhou.
