Guest UserFor a family trip before the end of the summer holiday, we chose the 'old internet-famous' Intercontinental Shanghai Wonderland, also known as the Deep Pit Hotel, for a two-day stay.
The hotel thoughtfully assigned Bruce as our butler. Not only did he arrange welcome fruits and sweet soup, but he also upgraded our room type by one level.
The hotel lived up to its reputation as a well-established property. From the moment we were greeted to check-in, the overall experience was excellent. The luggage carts even had felt covers, a level of detail I haven't seen in a long time. The room was very clean and tidy, and the bathroom was spacious. The bathmat for the tub was long-pile, while the one for the shower was terry cloth. After comparing, I realized that none of the hotels or high-end guesthouses I've stayed in these past two years made this distinction – truly, the attention to detail was perfect.
The most anticipated part of the Deep Pit Hotel is the evening light show. The drone show, synchronized with the 'Classic of Mountains and Seas' light projections, truly made the trip worthwhile. It might not be the largest in scale, but when the drones formed the Big Dipper and various light rings overhead, it definitely elicited countless 'wows.'
From the Cai Feng Lou on the top floor, the small underwater aquarium, the nearby amusement park, the night light show, to Bruce's subtle and attentive service – we truly came with high expectations and left thoroughly satisfied.

YituyidakeThe hotel's location is excellent, close to Shanghai Railway Station in the city center, making it very convenient for getting around.
This InterContinental is the one I've stayed at most often in Shanghai, but this time was also the least comfortable experience.
The XX21 room assigned to me this time was a type I'd never stayed in before. It was very spacious, neat, and clean, and the bed was comfortable. The only hardware issue was that the round decorative painting behind the desk made a deafening noise in the middle of the night (see video). This didn't happen on the first night, but on the second night, it lasted for about half an hour starting past midnight. I initially thought it was the air conditioning, but even after turning it off, the noise continued. The baffling part was that it only occurred in the dead of night, never during the day…
Furthermore, I had terrible neighbors during this stay. On the first afternoon after checking in, I heard thumping noises outside my door, appearing at intervals. Looking through the peephole, I saw that it was the child next door, and the noise was made when the door wasn't fully closed but slammed against something. After some investigation, I figured out it was likely the deadbolt's 'tongue' being extended and hitting the door frame when the door closed (as shown in the last picture). While this noise might be tolerable during the day, it started around midnight on both nights of my stay and continued for over an hour, consistently happening at that specific time.
Guest behavior is something the hotel can't control; it's a matter of individual etiquette…
I can only say I was unlucky this time, as I've always stayed on the executive floor at this hotel, but this time I wasn't assigned an executive floor room.

herbvincaMy family came to Shanghai for a trip, and we looked at many hotels. Hotel prices in Shanghai have gone up quite a bit during the summer vacation, but this hotel's price-performance ratio is still quite good. InterContinental quality is always guaranteed. It's located right by the Huangpu River; just go downstairs, turn right, and cross the street, and you're on the riverside promenade. It's about a ten-minute drive to the 'Three Piece Suit' (Lujiazui skyscrapers), the Science and Technology Museum, and the East Pavilion of the Shanghai Museum, which is very convenient. We were upgraded to a river view room on the 30th floor. As soon as we entered, we saw the cleaning staff cleaning the glass curtain wall from the outside – they work so hard in the scorching summer heat. The breakfast was good, with a variety of Chinese and Western dishes, and the gym facilities were comprehensive. Overall, it was great, and we'll definitely come again.

Guest UserTop-notch! I'd been here before with my parents, and this time I brought my girlfriend – the experience was excellent! The room has a classic feel, and some of the furniture shows its age, but it's incredibly tidy! The bathroom is very spacious and clean! There's just something so comfortable about a genuine five-star hotel. The service was superb; they even gave us a late check-out and extra free parking time!

I'd especially like to commend the front desk staff, Yves, Carrie, and Claire. They handled check-in efficiently and professionally, patiently explained member benefits, hotel facilities, and park information. Their demeanor was gentle and thoughtful, they proactively addressed my needs, and the communication experience was excellent. The hotel's garden environment is tranquil and elegant, and the overall service standard is top-notch. I will definitely choose Ruijin Intercontinental again for my next stay.

Anonymous UserI stayed at the InterContinental Shanghai for a business trip and was very impressed with the overall experience. The hotel's biggest advantage is its location, with the convention centre just a short walk away, making it extremely convenient for attending meetings and exhibitions.
The room was clean, spacious, and well-designed for business travelers, with a comfortable workspace and reliable high-speed Wi-Fi. The staff were friendly, efficient, and always willing to help. Breakfast offered a wide variety of quality options, and the executive lounge was a great place to relax or catch up on work.
Overall, this hotel provides an excellent balance of comfort, convenience, and professional service. I would happily stay here again for future business trips.
