From the room and the furnitures, you can tell that it is an old hotel. The lobby is grand but the room is not as great in comparison. Room was not well lit when curtain is closed and all the lights are on. However, hotel is situated at an extremely great location; right outside of the hotel is Nanjing Pedestrian Street. The Bund is walking distance. Nearby the hotel has many great and famous restaurants. If you don’t mind that the room is a bit run down (but relatively clean), I think this hotel is a great place to stay.

The cute boutique is located on a tree lined street approximately a 7 minute brisk walk from Jing’an temple exit 2 ( through a shopping mall), there’s some yummy food spots along the way to the hotel. The hotel is very beautiful and the front desk staff are able to speak English well ( you can ask for toothpaste/ brush) at the front desk. The room was clean and the bed perfect, mix of soft and comfortable. However I did give a 4 point rating for the bathtub in the room. I was not sure if it was dirty or the tub was old, but the room itself was clean and neat including the bathroom, I didn’t use the tub anyway because I couldn’t decide if it was dirty or old. (Picture included) Breakfast was ok, chose the continental and it was a bit dry without any condiments, but I asked and the wait staff brought it for me. Maybe the Chinese style was better. The stay was peaceful and quiet, thanks for having me 🫶🏽

Hotel is cheap and basic, but serves its purpose. Was actually misled by the review, as I thought it’s a convenient place, but turns out that the only pro is that it’s next to a metro, but other than that there’s no shops/breakfast place at all near the place. Nevertheless quite value for money

Facilities: The facilities are a little dated, but very comprehensive. The hotel lobby has a unique character, and the air conditioning works great. Cleanliness: Spotlessly clean, and housekeeping was prompt. Location: Surrounded by major shopping malls and located right next to Jing'an Temple, with an abundance of fantastic dining options in the vicinity. Service: The service was undoubtedly the most impressive aspect of this stay; it was absolutely stellar and made for an incredibly smooth and pleasant experience.

I’ve stayed here before many times over the last 3 years. This would normally be our hotel chain of choice based on price point and amenities. The room smelt like an airport smoking room on a bad day. I thought about accepting it as I was tired and it was late but the air conditioning in the rooms on floor 2 are also not good. Noisy neighbours, screaming kids and families sharing multiple rooms next to each leaving the doors open made the experience even more unpleasant. I had to wait 30 minutes for a new room in a grotty reception area with broken seats. After asking for a refund, I got upgrade to a decent room on the 6th floor. Clean and no smell. Breakfast is good here and much better than in other Chinese Campanile hotels- European breakfast choices are all available: pain au chocolate (etc), butter, milk, acceptable fruit juice etc. There are hotels in this area of a higher quality that provide the same for around 1/2 the price. It’s worth trying the Chinese brands. This stay was expensive as I bought it last minute- next, I’ll choose a different hotel. Key point: if you do book here in advance, you can get a better deal and better rooms- request a non smoking quiet room. If you do stay here, the location is excellent. The LV ship is 1 metro stop away. There are plenty of museums within 5 minutes walking distance and you can walk along the canal to the Bund in 25 minutes.

I was in Shanghai for an exhibition and booked The Kunlun Hotel through an online travel platform. Its location is fantastic, super close to the subway; just 100 meters from Exit 12 of Jing'an Temple Station! Stepping inside, I was immediately impressed by the sheer space and grandeur. The lobby is expansive, with high ceilings, and feels incredibly opulent. I stayed on a high floor. My initial room was on the 23rd floor, offering a view of Jing'an Temple. Unfortunately, there was a minor issue: the air conditioner started leaking, so I had to switch rooms. My second room, on the 28th floor, then had a splendid view of the Oriental Pearl TV Tower. From both high vantage points, Shanghai's bustling traffic looked incredibly dense and vibrant. As someone who can feel overwhelmed by crowded patterns, it was quite a sight! The hotel also generously invited me to a buffet meal at their 38th-floor restaurant. There was a wide selection of alcoholic beverages, though I regret forgetting to take photos. The Japanese ramen was decent, and overall, it was a simple yet satisfying meal. However, I must say, sitting by the window and looking down offered a truly commanding perspective, allowing me to once again soak in Shanghai's dynamic energy. It was a wonderful experience! As for the room itself, it was perfectly equipped with everything one could need and was genuinely comfortable and well-appointed! A quick tip for fellow travelers: toothbrushes are not provided in the room, so if you forget yours, remember to ask for one at the front desk. I was a bit rushed during check-out, so I didn't get a chance to photograph the breakfast buffet area. However, the breakfast buffet actually offered a great ambiance and a wide variety of choices – it was quite good! Should I visit Shanghai again, I would definitely choose this hotel.

We absolutely loved our stay at Citadines Shanghai. The room was incredibly spacious and comfortable, feeling like a true home away from home. The bed was so comfortable we slept wonderfully every night, and the bathroom was modern and clean. A special mention must go to the staff, who were consistently kind, welcoming, and incredibly helpful with all our questions. The location is also fantastic, making it easy to explore both the bustling city and quieter, charming neighborhoods. Highly recommended

Let me start by saying: I'm deeply dissatisfied. I saw a five-star rating on Trip.com, but my actual stay fell far short of what that standard implies. For this price, there are many other hotels with more professional management. I also question Trip.com's rating criteria. **Facilities:** The room size was one issue, but the bathroom vanity design was truly impractical. There was no space for common toiletries; they had to be crammed onto a tiny ledge. Furthermore, there was no waste bin near the sink, which was very inconvenient. When the overhead shower was turned on, water sprayed everywhere instead of coming down in a steady vertical stream. The room window had two or three panes, but the lock on one of them was broken. The sharp edges of the bed, combined with the narrow aisle, actually scraped a layer of skin off my leg, posing a safety hazard. And then there's the door: once opened, it wouldn't close automatically, unlike any other hotel door, which is another safety concern. **Service:** On the first night of my stay, a Saturday, there was loud noise from downstairs until 1 or 2 AM, making it very difficult to sleep. It was then that I realized why there were two earplugs placed beside the bed. I wanted to change rooms, so I went to the front desk the next day. I was told that it was too late to change room status. My question then is, what if there were unavoidable issues like a leaky pipe, a power outage, or a door that wouldn't close? The front desk simply told me it would be 'better today' and that weekends are generally noisy. In reality, when I tried to sleep, I could hear every sound from downstairs perfectly clearly. I strongly advise light sleepers to avoid this place. Not to mention, the cleaning staff would sit in public areas on their phones, and during breakfast, staff members would stand in front of the food chatting amongst themselves. The entire breakfast experience felt utterly disorganized and unprofessional. **Positive aspects (though few):** The complimentary meal looked decent (though I won't dwell on the fact that I was initially told I could eat it before 6 PM upon check-in, only to be informed at 5 PM that the restaurant was already closed, and it was only delivered to my room after I questioned them). The location is between two metro stations, both about a 15-minute walk away, and it's quite a distance from the core commercial area of Jing'an Temple. If you're traveling with family members who have mobility issues, I'd suggest choosing a hotel closer to a metro station. Finally, with the exception of a few proactive cleaning staff members who greeted me, none of the other hotel staff made me feel welcome. This really puzzled me; isn't a good service attitude the most fundamental professional quality for service personnel? **Summary:** Having stayed in dozens, if not hundreds, of hotels both domestically and internationally, I rarely leave negative reviews unless I'm truly disappointed. Moreover, my own family operates a brand hotel under Jinjiang Group, so this stay left me profoundly disappointed. I hope the management genuinely commits to improving things, and I will also report this to the platform. This definitely does not meet the standard of a five-star hotel.

For a designer hotel, the service genuinely exceeded my expectations. It deviates from the typical service style of traditional luxury hotels; instead, the reception staff treated me more like a 'friend' in need, actively going above and beyond to help. As I'm quite open-minded, I found this to be a rather positive experience, though I understand that personal preferences vary. The room facilities were incredibly innovative, such as the pull-cord light switches. The 180-degree floor-to-ceiling windows beautifully framed the LV boat design, and the ambiance created by the combination of dispersed lighting and New Chinese aesthetics was truly impressive. Numerous thoughtful small details were also present, like a Dyson hairdryer and even small dumbbells, ensuring guests could maintain their fitness routines. All in all, it was a very satisfying stay.

__WeChat280508****Great homestay! It is a three-story building. The environment is very good and beautiful. There are four rooms and two bathrooms. It can accommodate up to ten people! ! ! Especially suitable for poor college students to travel in groups☺️☺️The location is also very good. It is close to everywhere. It is very convenient to take a taxi or subway🚇 The kitchen also has dishes. We also studied and cooked our own dishes😏There are two bathrooms in total. The hygiene is also very good~ I didn’t deliberately take a lot of beautiful photos 555 (my fault☹️) The store owner is also super nice😘😘😭Especially understand poor college students. They also provided us with free mahjong tables, audio equipment and other equipment😘The TV is very large and can be projected. It’s very comfortable to watch! ! ! It is also very convenient to order takeout🥹Just go downstairs and open the door to get it~ The safety factor is very good and very reassuring✊In short, it is a very pleasant homestay experience💕I will recommend it to friends in the future🫧

GGuest UserIt was my first time to travel to Shanghai alone. The front desk lady was very gentle when I entered the room on the night of check-in. She even said that she upgraded my room. As we all know, the prices in Shanghai are high. That small place carries my dream of finding my idol. Thank you for the enthusiasm of the front desk lady. Although the room is small, it is clean and tidy, full of Shanghai style. If someone has booked this room type, I hope you can understand. After all, the room is this price. It is really impossible to have a cheap and large room in Shanghai. Shanghai, hope to see you next time.
