Sauerland Alpin Hotel
"The facilities were good. The food was good, extensive and varied. The service was top, very friendly and helpful staff that provided excellent service. Location of the hotel very beautiful. Hotel old and dated but a delicious atmosphere."
Hotel Deimann
"My mother and I truly enjoyed our stay at this fantastic hotel! Our room was spacious and overlooked the pond but we hardly spent any time here. We quickly developed a lovely relaxing routine with an early cupboard coffee at the pool snack area, a swim in the saltwater pool, followed by water gymnastics and then swimming g laps in the roof top adult pool. What a view! Early in the morning we guten had it almost all to ourselves. Then a scrumptious breakfast, which had about everything one could thinking for breakfast from 6 different breads, a wonderful cold cut buffet, delicious selection of jams and honeys (yes! Multiple honey types), fresh fruit, made to order egg station and so much more. Dinners were equally wonderful. We were lucky enough with perfect weather and had dinners on the garden patio. During the day, we hiked in the area, visited Schmallenberg for a little bit of shopping but I enjoyed our full day of relaxing at the hotel best of all. The sauna selection was wonderful and all the quiet areas are well appointed and beautiful. The staff was amazing and fun to interact with. Most guests were German but we also met people from the Netherlands and Denmark. The hotel bar and staff was also wonderful. If you are looking for an authentic German 5-star hotel with a quiet, relaxed and beautiful ambiance, you are at the right place here! I hope to be able to return."
Hotel Stockhausen
Hotel Jagdhaus Wiese
"A 4+ star establishment that is well maintained, but the type and quality of the food does not match the stars. For breakfast, you have to fill out a questionnaire at the table and write down how many slices of ham, salmon, cheese or whatever you want to eat. Then they bring it out and you can eat it. It reminded me of my stay in hospital. Being able to see the delicacies on the buffet whets your appetite and invites you to choose which appetizers you want to eat. Filling out a form is completely unsuitable for this and is not an indication of hospitality. After all, you eat with your eyes too! You can choose the evening menu, but the salad buffet that is typical in establishments of this category is not available! My main course (fish) was so salty that I could hardly eat it - but they simply took note of the complaint and did not try to make amends (as is completely normal in other hotels/restaurants). The prices are really amazing, though. The stay and the strange "hospitality" are quite expensive."

"For us, two people with a dog, the hotel was a true oasis of relaxation over Christmas. It's wonderfully quiet up here, and many beautiful hikes are accessible directly from the hotel. The evening meal (a buffet) was truly delicious, and the fantastic breakfast buffet left nothing to be desired... and was available until 11:30 a.m.... fantastic!"
Landhotel Albers
"The bed was comfortable and made daily, though nothing special. The room’s furnishings were adequate, and it was well-ventilated and stayed cool despite the heat and lack of air conditioning. Unfortunately, cleanliness was a concern. The floors were not vacuumed, and the bathroom often smelled musty due to water leaking from a poorly closing shower. This also caused water damage on the bathroom door, which added to the unpleasant experience. While the room was otherwise comfortable, these maintenance and hygiene issues significantly affected our stay. The staff were often unfriendly and seemed reluctant to assist us. Upon arrival, we were wrongly blamed for not printing our voucher, even though the confirmation email explicitly stated that this was unnecessary. While the check-in process itself was quick once the voucher was emailed, the initial impression was off-putting. During meals, the service felt rushed and inattentive. Bread that our children had started eating at breakfast was charged to our account, without any prior warning. We also felt constantly monitored, and staff often placed dishes on the table before we had time to clear or arrange it properly. The coffee machine remained broken for several days, which was frustrating. Overall, the staff’s approach made us feel unwelcome and reluctant to stay in the hotel. The food was tasty and plentiful. However, there were limited options for children, and vegetables were not always available. While the quality of the meals was good, the lack of flexibility for children was disappointing. Although the surrounding area is very beautiful and added some enjoyment to our stay, our experience at the hotel itself was disappointing. The facilities were adequate, the room acceptable, and the food good, but recurring issues with staff behavior, room cleanliness, and maintenance overshadowed the positive aspects."
