Me and my girlfriend got picked up at Congjiang train station which was very convenient. Right from the start the owners of the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. The accomodation is located at the back of the village next to a field where they grow rapeseed flowers and rice during the year. For us the location was perfect as it is very peaceful and quiet but simultaneously litterally a few steps away from the beautiful vibrant little village. The room was very spacious and clean with a gorgeous view on the field. The interior is very well matched and has great facilities. There was even a small laundry machine so we could do some laundry ourselves. So far during our travels in China, this stay was the best we had!
There is a very stylish and cute coffee/restaurant located on the first floor of the building. This is also where you will have a delicious breakfast and where Ni Li and her sister will greet you with a smile every time you walk by.
Ni Li, her husband Tao Mingqing, her sister and brother played a crucial part during our stay as after the first night my wife got very sick due to an infection and barely left the room during our stay. The second night I got foodpoisoning which made the situation even worse. (Not from the hotel!). We ended up extending our stay due to her condition. Luckily Li's English is very good so that helped us a lot in navigating the medical difficulties. We were extremely lucky to be staying with Li and her family as they took care of us like we were their own family. Preparing custom meals and dinner tailored to our needs every single day, preparing us tea, calling the local doctors and translating and taking us to the local hospital back and forth multiple times. We were there during the Qingming festival so no cars were allowed in the village which made it more difficult to reach the hospital. This didn't stop Tao Mingqing as he took us to the local hospital several times on the motorbike, one by one! The last time I even forgot a bag and he even went back to get it for me! He truly is a legend. Fortunately, my recovery was fairly quickly so I had the chance to explore the village a little by myself and spend time with Li and Ming while staying close to the room for my girlfriend.
On day 4 my girlfriend's fever was coming down and she improved a little. Li and Ming invited us to have tea with them. Ming showed me his vast collection of tea and made sure to prepare the best tea suitable for our condition. The tea was truly amazing and he ended up filling a big bag with different kinds of teas as a gift for us! And that was not it, to make sure we would never forget them and drink tea mindfully the Chinese way when we're back home, they gave us the tea cups we used traditionally decorated with the blue dragon and phoenix.
It was a very stressful situation and when we felt at our most fragile, they were there to take care of us, strangers they just met. This says everything about these wonderful people. Even though the illness of my girlfriend and the rough situation, we think back to our stay with a very warm hearth as our special experience forged a bond we'll never forget. We are incredibly lucky to have met Li and her family.
We have said thank you to them 100s of times already, but I can't express enough how grateful I am for this people. Thank you for taking care of us like your family!!! <3
If you are unsure about staying here, there is truly no reason why you shouldn't! Whatever the situation, Li and her family will do everything they can to improve your stay. I'm sure you'll have a blast!

XuemeierThe village has five drum towers representing virtue, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, and trustworthiness, arranged in order. The shops are located next to the Zhi Tuan tower, in the central area. Choosing this spot offers two advantages: a close-up view of the drum towers and the opportunity to watch the Dong ethnic group's grand song performance. Even after the evening performance, it's very quiet, and the bathing water is hot – I was very satisfied. To enter and exit the village, you need to take a sightseeing bus or hire a car. The sightseeing bus costs 10 yuan per person, and a car hire costs 40 yuan per vehicle.

Staying at Sugong Wujing with my family exceeded our expectations! The guesthouse is in a great location, so convenient for the elderly and kids to explore the village without getting tired. The free shuttle service saved us a lot of hassle getting to and from the station. The room was clean and odor-free, and the mattress was so comfortable that my parents slept like babies. The owner even offered to help us with our luggage, which was incredibly thoughtful and warm! We loved looking out the window at the stream, and watching the Dong village night view from the entrance in the evening was a treat for the whole family. It was truly a wonderful stay in the Dong village, highly recommended!

AliceCullenYEThis is a typical ethnic minority village, with a mix of stone and bamboo-style buildings. The environment is quite nice. I booked in a hurry and didn't check carefully, so there's a slight 'photo vs. reality' discrepancy. I was hoping for a place with an elevator and a swimming pool, as I brought my swimsuit. It wasn't until just before check-in that I discovered the 'scenic pool' was only 10cm deep!
To be fair, the host made up for everything with their service. They offered a free room upgrade, complimentary sour plum soup upon arrival, a free selection of drinks and beer, daily afternoon tea, help with transfers and luggage. When there was no hot water in the early morning, one phone call got the issue resolved promptly, without any pretense or impatience.
It might be slightly more expensive than other places, but I travel for happiness, and the emotional value I got was absolutely worth it.

To be honest, during the off-season, I didn't rush to book a room on Ctrip when visiting Zhaoxing Dong Village. Instead, I ate at a Dong-style restaurant first. During the meal, I overheard guests at the next table talking about ”Chenfeng Inn,” how dedicated the owner was to the guesthouse, how much he loved travel photography, and how he only stayed briefly in the US, dedicating the rest of his time to his business in Zhaoxing…
I also enjoy travel photography, so I found Chenfeng Inn. Stepping inside, I fell in love with it, and without hesitation, I placed a order…
Of course, the design, environment, ethnic characteristics, comfort, and value for money were all excellent…

The rooms are clean and hygienic, and the location is central, so it's convenient to go anywhere. There is a snack street nearby, and the hot water is great. The most important thing is that the staircase corridor is spacious, the safety passage is relatively intuitive, the decoration of the corridor has the characteristics of the Dong ethnic group, and the staircase staff cleans it brightly. The wall painting of the guest room is a small scene of the Dong village. I heard from the hotel staff that it was painted by a local. You can imagine the versatility of the Dong people. I like the a**osphere of the Dong village very much. It's great to have such a hotel in the Dong village. I will recommend it to people around me.

This guesthouse in Zhaoxing Dong Village was the biggest surprise of my trip!
The room had an amazing view; the balcony offered an unobstructed view of the entire Dong village, with its stilted houses, green mountains, and blue skies stretching as far as the eye could see. You could enjoy stunning scenery without even leaving the room. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious, with its own small balcony. The rustic wood style was warm and inviting, and the attention to detail was impeccable, making for a very relaxing stay. The owner was incredibly welcoming and helpful, assisting with luggage and patiently recommending travel tips. Everything was thoughtful and foolproof. I'll definitely stay here again next time! Highly recommended!!!

This place is conveniently located in the heart of Zhaoxing, and it's perfect to explore the town.
Furthermore, staff are really kind and available: they also helped us finding a driver to take us around several Miao/Dong villages in the area.
Hotel is also really nice: the common area is perfect to relax and spend some time, and also the room is comfortable and fully equipped.

The hotel is in the ancient town, and the boss will call you in advance to determine if you can find it. When we arrived at the door of the hotel, we could see the hotel's very humane and comfortable environment.
The room we booked was for this tatami, and the tatami was bigger than the hotel's publicity and could even lie on it. The overall environment of the room is really comfortable. After all, it is really important to go to a comfortable place to stay. Believe me, open the door and know that the room is worth it
It rained when we arrived, and the boss provided us with tea sets and free tea (this is what we asked, the boss did not charge) The boss also gave us the mountain spring water to make tea next door!
The environment plus tea is really comfortable.
The hotel can provide a little internal price for the consumption tickets of the scenic spot. If you feel expensive, you can ask the hotel owner if the price is optimized.
It’s beautiful, so enjoy it early.

I found myself living in a prose poem within the Dong village.
Here I am at the airport, waiting to board, and a small part of my heart is still lingering on that balcony.
The guesthouse is located right at the entrance of the village, perfectly situated – not engulfed by the hustle and bustle, nor isolated from the daily life. I pushed open the door, walked into the room, set down my luggage, and stepped onto the balcony. The entire Dong village unfolded before my eyes, layer upon layer, with its dark tiled roofs stretching out like a painting crumpled by time and then smoothed open. I didn't go anywhere that evening; I just sat there, watching the twilight creep in inch by inch. The silhouette of the drum tower gradually turned into a cut-out, and the village lights flickered on one by one, like stars scattered across the mountains.
That night, we simply listened to music and chatted in the mountain breeze, with the starry sky above and homes in the distance. We only stayed one night, but it felt as if we had been there for a long time.
The room itself was beautiful too, with thoughtful touches hidden in every corner. The interplay of light and shadow on the window lattices, the grain of the wood – every casual shot captured a perfect scene. But these qualities, ultimately, are about the house.
What truly captivates you here are the people.
The landlady, a native Dong, was born and raised there, exuding a vibrant energy gifted by the land itself. She led us through small alleys not found on any map, where the stone paths were smoothed by time, and wooden houses on either side revealed cooking smoke and clothes drying. She told us which corners had the best light, and in front of which old window lattice we could capture a unique view of the Wind-Rain Bridge – those places without road signs are the true veins of the village.
When she had free time, she chatted with us, telling us about working in other provinces when she was young, and how she returned when the road reached her doorstep – preferring to work in her own village, be close to her elders and children, living a steady life. She also talked about swimming in the river in winter, and her eyes sparkled when she spoke of it. It wasn't boasting, but the kind of radiance you see in someone who truly lives life to the fullest.
We only spent a day together, but I still remember her way of speaking very clearly.
She also helped us arrange for a driver to take us to see the sunrise the next day, meticulously instructing us on the time and location, as if she were organizing something for her own relatives. The next morning, as the first light broke, standing on the mountain and watching the golden light gradually paint the village, my heart swelled with much more than just the beauty of the scenery.
Coincidentally, we had just visited the Long March exhibition the day before. The stories of crossing mountains and rivers, enduring snow and wind, still weighed heavily on my mind. Hearing the landlady laughingly say, “Now every village has concrete roads,” in that moment, history suddenly transformed from text in a glass case into the roads beneath my feet, the people before my eyes, and the ordinary life within reach. I have never so genuinely felt that some roads, traveled for nearly a century, have finally reached the doorsteps of ordinary homes.
There was also a little sister, running back and forth, helping us with our luggage and making reservations. Her smile was shy and sweet, like a ray of light peeking through the morning mist.
We only stayed one night. But in that one night, this guesthouse gave me a memory with warmth. As I left, I wondered how long a trip could be remembered, and perhaps it doesn't depend on how many days you stayed, but on who you met.
If you come to Zhaoxing, I hope you stay here. Sit on the balcony and feel the mountain breeze, walk those nameless paths with the landlady, and you'll discover that the drum tower is beautiful, the flower bridge is beautiful, but the most beautiful things are the people and the moments you finally slow down and get close to.
Thank you, big sister. We will definitely be back.
