After reading reviews I was apprehensive going into this holiday but have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms lack privacy but are comfortable and provide everything we needed. You can't go to a country like this expecting perfect plumbing so the toilets do smell. We took toilet fresh and it rarely bothered us. The staff are amazing. They work tirelessly and couldn't do more for you. The entertainment team gives so much to everything they do and live to make you smile. This made our holiday. The beach is one of the most beautiful I've seen and I am not a beach person. The food is no better or worse than any other all inclusive I've been to. Lots to choose from, freshly cooked and we're happy to help with requests. All in all a lovely family resort and I would definitely go back. An absolute breath of fresh air from the usual canary islands/turkey holidays we take.

First time visiting the RIU karamboa and what a experience it was. From checking in to leaveing the staff have been nothing but friendly, the cleaners, receptionists, bar staff, entertainers etc..... All very polite, happy going people. The food is amazing, such a variety aswell. Food I've never had and it was spot on. The pool bar staff are the most entertaining people you will ever meet, bar opens at 10:30am and from opening to close they are always smiling, laughing and singing to the music, they just make you feel so welcome. The hotel it self is 5* rated and we've had a 5*service throughout, amazing 10 days we've had and will definitely be returning when the new refurb has happened. Obrigada :)

The airport pick up worked well, as did the check in. Sleep quality is very good with rooms to any side of the hotel. The hotel as a whole is very tatty. The lift was dirty, the walls are marked everywhere and the very basic room furniture is also scratched, well used. it would all need a deep redecoration. The TV did only have 2 channels, none with English news. This is fine for a 2 night stay but a holiday, rather not. the b'fast was basic too. The entire location of Sal Rei is in decay due to large travel companies having luxury resorts established way out of town, where people have all inclusive. Few tourists come into Sal Rei. This has the benefit that local restaurants are for the locals and offer great food, notably the Te Manche, about 400 m along the beach from this hotel.
