The antique-style reception area, the venerable camphor tree with its sprawling canopy in the courtyard, the spotlessly elegant ground-floor restaurant, the guest rooms with their enormous bay windows, and of course, that breathtaking book bar – it all truly made me want to settle in for a long read. There’s so much to praise, and the breakfast definitely deserves a huge shout-out. While not extensive in variety, every dish was exquisite and delicious, offering a range of Taizhou local specialties that far surpassed anything you’d find at a street food stall. Finally, I must thank the hotel for the travel photography service. The photographer, Ban Dao Cha (半島茶), was not only highly skilled and patient but also had an excellent eye for aesthetics.

I also booked a courtyard suite for my in-laws, which had an even more charming ambiance. The old street had performances during the holiday, and there were also snacks and a Starbucks right outside, perfect for a stroll. Overall, a great experience!
