But Caobaoshan has to reserve a day to take dry food up the mountain, we climbed for an hour and a half with the baby on our backs, not enough fun. There are also Nanxun Museum and Wenhua College not allowed to enter at 4 pm. Our baby is too late to finish the afternoon tea after taking a nap. To escape the frenzy of Kunming ancient town, we took a 2.5 hr train ride to Weishan - an authentic, uncommercialized old town with the splendid Yuan Chuang Yi Su hotel. Sanitized towels are delivered daily in sealed bags and CGTN for foreign guests is available on a huge TV! Yuan Chuang Yi Su's owner is a Mensch. His fluency in English and passion for his adopted town enriched our China trip. He sensed my vegetarian needs and whisked me off to the local market! Yuan Chuang Yi Su is the smartest, but the least expensive of our 28 day trip in Guangdong - Yunnan. We relished the smart set-up, the gleaming interior and delightful neighborhood of eateries. The hotel is truly a train-rider's dream: just 25 minute walk away from Weishan Railway station and 5 minutes from the inexpensive tourist buses that take you as far as Weibaoshan and East Lotus Village.

When booking, if you tell them your high-speed train time, they will pick you up on time, and when you return, you can ask the front desk and they will take you back to the station.
